**POST TUES SCORES HERE**

Silsbee did have a good bench last year. They have some talented hitters and their setter (who played Libero last year) is doing a great job as well. They have a new coach who is intent on continuing the tradition of winning. -
"If you can't play with the big dogs.... don't get off the porch!" Apparently that "bunch of Freshmen and Sophomores" was good enough to win second place in their district.... so your point is lost on me. The Kingwood girls played with a lot of maturity considering their youth and Silsbee did not have their best game, but the way you make it sound, it shouldn't even count because the other team was younger. Kingwood earned their playoff berth, and Silsbee earned the right to continue in the post season, and that is the end of that!!

What is wrong with Lumberton??
takemeouttotheballgame replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You speak of racism, yet you hint of the same yourself.... there is such a thing as REVERSE racism and you are thinly disguising the fact that you believe Lumberton has no athletes . Find another thread.... you are embarrassing yourself. -
One of the most impressive things about Ang Green is her demeanor... on and off the court. She has a load of talent, but she is definitely a team player. She is not arrogant, boastful, or self centered. A lot of times when an individual possesses outstanding talent, particularly a young person, the tendency is to be "all about me", but I can truly say that I have only missed a handful of Silsbee Lady Tiger games in the past two seasons, and I have never witnessed anything but classy behavior from this young lady.

Lumberton vs BC Predictions??
takemeouttotheballgame replied to TheWilson's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hey now.... wait a minute..... we do know about tradition in other sports ... the Lady Raiders had a great run in the late 1990's, and early 2000's in basketball, volleyball and soccer .... but alas.... various coaching changes, AD changes, and the tradition was short lived...... -

Congratulations Coach Killam, Ang, Brandi, Sameika, Brittany and Chelsye. We are proud of you. You all made awesome contributions to an exciting season and you earned your spot at the top of the district race, along with the support of the rest of your team. One of the best things about watching the Lady Tigers this year was never having to worry if one or two got into foul trouble, because there were plenty of other talented players ready to step in and pick up the slack. From game to game, while the five ladies mentioned above made their presence known, you never knew who else might be an impact player that night. Be it Sherry's 3 point shooting, Quela's rebounding and put backs, or Shedryl's quick hands on defense - just when the competition thought they had it figured out, someone else would be there to accept the challenge. I really want to say thanks for making it so much fun to come out and watch!!! -
Silsbee vs WOS round 3..Game In Evadale!!
takemeouttotheballgame replied to 20FAN07's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There are local teams that compete in the Houston area so that staying and practicing in Houston is not necessary. AAU provides great exposure. I agree with the previous poster..... be cautious about what team you get involved with. A few years ago, my daughter played with a number of AAU teams - there were teams organized from local players (Silsbee, Lumberton, Orangefield, Evadale, Woodville). The set up of most AAU tournaments is such that all teams play pool play initially, and then they are bracketed according to their pool play - ie: Gold, Silver and Bronze brackets. That way, they have an opportunity to compete against teams of similar talent for the medal rounds. It really is great experience and exposure for players. It can get expensive though! -
WO-S 79 Silsbee 74 Final/Playoffs

As a matter of fact, I am a "Silsbee poster" and what I have to say is, Silsbee had a good night, but WOS had a better one, and that is that. Congratulations Lady Mustangs and good luck. As for the Lady Tigers, it was a wonderful treat getting to watch you play this year. I have really missed basketball since my daughter finished her career, and I feel fortunate that she is now a part of this Silsbee Lady Tiger program. For the seniors, best of luck in your future endeavors. Ang and Chelsye, I look forward to seeing you again next year. GO LADY TIGERS!!!!!! -

If Silsbee is on their game... they will win. They have the better, more balanced team, and that has been the story all season long. It will be up to the Lady Tigers what the outcome of this game is. -
Lumberton vs Crosby what are yall thoughts

Crosby beat Silsbee in the Gulf Coast Classic..... but should not have - they weren't the better team, Silsbee just wasn't on the mark that day...... -

The 16 to 18 year old high school basketball players aren't "hired", are you suggesting when they make mistakes they be "fired"? Ridiculous. And if there were that many free throws and layups missed, then it is certainly going out on a limb blaming the loss on being "outcoached"... EVERYBODY's an expert when it comes to second guessing coaches. -

Rough Play
takemeouttotheballgame replied to takemeouttotheballgame's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Boy, did I open a can of worms!!! LOL. Seriously though, one of the Silsbee players had the sleeve of her jersey ripped during the game Tuesday night, and it wasn't even on a seam. It was a rip right through the fabric. How does something like THAT happen without anyone seeing? Another left the court with a scratch down half the length of her shoulder that was showing blood. Girls had slap marks and knots and various other signs of roughness. Some of this can happen in the course of good hustle, but that was not the case Tuesday night. I'm not saying that all refereeing is bad - by any means. It's just that lately things really seem to be getting out of control. And the referees have been late for the last three JV starts for Silsbee - what's that about? Could it be an indication of their enthusiasm for the job at hand? Okay.... enough is enough. I will get off my soapbox, but not before saying thank you to all the good refs out there. Without you, the games I enjoy so much would not be possible. I know your job is thankless and I for one would not put myself in your shoes..... the extent of my refereeing experience is limited to Little Dribblers, and that was murderous.... can't imagine what it's like to referee at the high school level. -
Well, apparently rough play was the theme for the night last night. According to the posts I've read here, the Deweyville/EC game, the Vidor/LCM game, and the Orangefield/HJ game were all that way. Let me add another to the list... the Silsbee/Jasper game - the refs were so random in their calls - they were quick to whistle touch fouls, and let other obvious ones go beyond the point of reason. People were getting poked in the eyes, shoved down to the floor from behind, whacked in the head, arms twisted, ankles stomped. I was in disbelief. I'll give the refs credit though, it wasn't one sided - they were missing and mistaking both ways!! Technical fouls were called on both teams.... for "unsportsmanlike conduct"..... in both cases pure frustration had set in due to a stream of missed calls, and players lost their cool. Maybe some of the refs are just getting tired... and ready to hang up their whistles for the season. Anyway.... the Lady Tigers did prevail and I am looking forward to cheering them on in the playoffs............................. "All the way to Austin, Ladies!"

Silsbee 76 Kirbyville 71 Final/Friday
takemeouttotheballgame replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Way to go Lady Tigers.... now take care of business Tuesday night, then GET READY FOR THE PLAYOFFS!!!! Silsbee has the most rotation of players on and off court than any other team in the district, and I for one think that has been the key to their success. While they do have some standout players, their bench goes deep and they can move players in and out of the game - they don't have to rely on just one or two people to create scoring opportunities or handle the other team's offensive threat. Last night they were swapping out three and four players during a single substituion without a hitch. Props to Coach Killam for taking advantage of all the talent his players have to offer and utilizing it to move them to the top of the district. -
