  1. I'm hearing Jeff Mathews is hiring Boyd...PNG is furious about it.
  2. Got nothing to do with Vidor; a heck of lot to do with WOS. You would get beat and yes I would make that wager.
  3. WOS would beat you easier than PNG, the Indians have a better defense than you and couldn't control their offense. You guys struggled with us at home.
  4. OK, I'm one of those who voted Kirbyville number one and I'll tell you why. First, let's get the fact that I'm a big supporter of WOS out of the way and followed them all the way to the state championship game in Cowboy stadium last year. The fact that WOS did cake walk in that district had a little to do with it. The real reason is I saw Kirbyville go into Winnie and dismantle a #5 ranked and extremely good East Chambers team on their home field. To me, that gave Kirbyville the edge over WOS at the END of the season. Realistically, I think WOS could have won 22-5A this year; but they still had a bad loss to Foster and an easy district. Kville destroys BC at the end of the season, period.
  5. I was a marshal for this event. First day I drew Charley Hartley (Taylor's), second day Jerod Linter (we ran to Kemah), third day was Kurt Dove (Cow Bayou). You have not lived until you've ran from Orange to Kemah at 70 mph in a Skeeter for 2 hours one way. One of the coolest things I've ever done in my life.
  6. BTW, I'm hunting Type 2 this year.
  7. bullets, you ever get far west texas. it would be cool getting drawn for the mulies and big horns out there. i'm gonna try my luck next year, thanks for posting this.
  8. I've been watching Pirate basketball for a few years and can tell you now, Larry Sterling couldn't get it done. Last year's team had some talent but I never saw the discipline that all the non-Vidor pundents are talking about. What I saw was some bonehead moves that cost us some games. Funny how English could get it done here and how nederrville stunk before he went back there. Now, everyone in nederville is an expert. If Larry didn't want to be here, he should have left earlier instead of just putting up with it, so to speak. I wish him well in Bridge City; looking forward to what Coach Williams can do with the Pirates.
  9. Out of Humphreys Pavilion. Weigh in at 4:00 p.m. Expecting 300+ teams!
  10. Nahhh. Safe place, DPS everywhere . Too early for those muy grandes.
  11. This year I've taken a team of kiddos from Vidor to fish in the SETX High School bass tournament trail. Hopefully I'll be able to bring a report for the board on each tourney's results so everyone can track their individual schools. First event is Dec. 6th out of Umphrey's Pavilion. If you have the desire, I suggest you contact your local school and help these clubs out; they have way more kids than captains.
  12. Three day trip we took down there the weekend of Oct. 24 - 26. Seven hour trip for me pulling the Ranger from Vidor but the highways are good all the way there. 59 South to Freer, turn onto TX 16 straight into Zapata. We stayed at the Beacon Lodge, which I recommend but only if a guys fishing trip; if you bring your wife stay at the Holiday Inn or Best Western. The sunsets were gorgeous! liltex and I fished together and smokin baby fished with his girlfriend. Fishing was slow at best due to the fact the Mexicans drew the lake down 18 inches in five days= suspended fish with lockjaw. What we did catch we caught on watermelon candy red wacky worms, carolina rigged caffeine shads and medium running shad crankbaits. Falcon is a very pretty lake with a lot of structure that normally produces great stringers so I am looking forward to a return trip (besides, I don't like it when a lake whips me). We felt safe the entire time we were there and the only people on the lake were Mexican fishermen (few) and guys like ourselves bass fishing. Beautiful place...highly recommend going.
  13. This is the same Supreme Court that ruled Obamacare is a tax using the interstate commerce law? The same court that ruled the defense of marriage act was constitutional while upholding then 9th circuit's ruling (and others) on gay marriage? Although abortion is legal, I don't see Christian's running out to do it, it doesn't make it right. The constitution says " freedom OF religion", not from it. When man' s laws try to supercede God's, I don't listen. GoDogs, you want to discuss scripture or the constitution, you know where to find me.. thx again Bulldog fans!
  14. I can't speak for the rest of the Pirate faithful, but I really appreciated the applause after the young lady who led the invocation ended it with "in Jesus name." I try not to be political on the board but I do believe the vast majorityof Texas high school football fans are made to bow to the wishes of the very few.
  15. To say my Pirates aren't striving to have the same sort of success Dayton has would be an extreme understatement. The Broncos will be fine an continue the winning tradition.
  16. OK, someone in an earlier post mentioned the lack of competitiveness in our pre-district schedule and this time, I agree. Lately, we've had a couple of marquee games...both with Texarkana Texas High but usually our pre-district lacks. Although we haven't played the games yet, I don't believe my Pirates will be tested until Clear Brook comes to town in three weeks. In times past, people wouldn't play us for various and sundry reasons which I won't discuss but I don't think that is the case now. SOOOOOO...I would like to see us pick up a high level game or two. I believe we have the coaches, the kids, the program and the fanbase to bring the Black Pearl up the Brazos or any other place she may want to sail...say somewhere like Brenham or Montgomery. I know Jeff reads this stuff so thought I would run the ol' Jolly Roger up the pole and see what happens (I would love to kick my brother-in-law's team in Corsicana's butt).
  17. It will be a good game but WS is returning 17 starters from a very good team last year. A lot to be said for that.
  18. Good article. Shame the boremont enterprise can't write articles like that.

  20. Silsbee 42, PNG 14. Keep those *&^% purple canoes out of the Neches when we're sailing the Black Pearl out to Santa Fe Friday!
