Totally the officials fault however I think the Livingston coaches should carry some of the blame. Chevoski should have went to the sidelines for a while to cool off. Is it me or does it seem we can't get officials that are impartial or competent? I'm sorry, you are getting paid for this. I officiated soccer for 15 years and I can assure you, I would have been pulled from refereeing for a while if I couldn't do it right and I know they see what's going on. I could make a list of their obvious blunders to cover an entire page. Truthfully, the kids on the field shouldn't be blamed...it rest with the officials and coaches. I know the Livingston coaches saw what Collins did on Montana's TD. What would Jeff do if the shoe was on the other foot and Montana had beed doing that after a Collins TD? Guarantee you he would be benched. Disgusting.
Points mean nothing tonight. Ozen is in if there's a 3-way tie. I posted this in another thread:
Week 9 Results (minus the LCM vs Central game tonight) are posted.... [Hidden Content] Just curious... With the Ozen victory last night, Ozen has a pretty much automatic victory over Lumberton next week. With a Central victory tonight that could create a three way 3 and 4 record tie for 4th place. Can someone explain the tie breaker scenario, looks like Ozen might still get in with a Central victory.
IF Central wins tonight and Ozen/Vidor take care of business next week you will have Central, Ozen, and LCM tied for 4th place. It will go to points. Here is the point breakdown Ozen : +14 LCM : +6 (pending tonight's game) Central : -20 (pending tonight's game) Note: **Points from now on mean nothing** Central is out if they lose next week to Nederland (if Ozen beats Lumberton), regardless of tonight's score because they can't catch Ozen on points. They would be, at most +1 on the points. Ozen's +14 wouldn't change. It's a stretch but Central could still get in even if they lose to Nederland if Ozen loses next week to Lumberton and LC-M loses both games. If LCM loses this week and next week (which is required for this scenario) then Ozen is in if they beat Lumberton. So in theory, tonights game means squat for a points tiebreaker. If LCM drops its last two games, Ozen is in with a win. If LCM wins tonight, LCM has clinched since they would hold the heads up tiebreaker against Central. Ok so summary. Points mean nothing tonight because if LCM wins, Ozen and Central are out for sure with 4 losses.. If Central wins, points still mean nothing because they will need to beat Nederland to get in as well. If they do that, they are in regardless of what the outcome of Vidor/LC-M is. Even if LC-M upsets Vidor, there is no points tie-breaker because it's two teams with 4-3 records and Central would win the heads up against LC-M. So, in essence, Central and LC-M control their own destiny. For Ozen to be in : W against Lumberton, a Central loss to Ned, and two LC-M losses. For Central to be in: W against LCM AND Ned ---- OR ---- W against LC-M, Ozen loss, LC-M loss For LC-M to be in: W against Central OR Vidor Remember, points are established so they mean nothing from here on.. LOL Any questions??
+1 GoDogs. Good car math....
And if you watch the tailgate party he slung quirante down about 5 yards already into the endzone. Don't know why you would be proud of yourself for getting scored on and outran by the QB.? Put that on the highlight film for mack
The referee actually had flagged him for the tackle on Montana. Then Collins followed Montana down the sidelines with his antics. The referee picked up the flag and waved it off. That's when the officials lost control of the game...1st quarter...not hitting Collins for the flagrant late hit and not hitting him again for taunting.

I have said that since back in the 80's.
And that is all I am saying....Would like for Vidor to have that extra weapon!!!
May see more passing next year as our running QB, MQ, will graduate. Still, the Slot-T, by it's very nature, is a run-heavy offense. Livingston's version is more varied with the shotgun, zone read, and even some spread with quite a bit more passing. I think all the "extras" that the Lions run may be geared to Collins' abilities however and that makes their version more of a hybrid Slot-T, rather than Vidor's "pure" slot T.
Why? I'm so tired of hearing about us not passing...we average approx. 35 point per game and beat the other team down. Most 4A schools have players that go both ways and they run out of gas (i.e. Collins). It's a scheme, a rhythym. We run the ball, run the clock, wear the other team down. We used to throw the ball all the time, what did it get us? This offense and this scheme has put us into the playoffs three of the last four years and maximizes the talent we have while negating the other teams. It cuts down the opportunities they have the ball. If you want the spread, go watch png. -

However will they ever ditch the short sighted goal of winning games and district games for the bigger prize? I might be wrong but in my opinion a 4A team will not win state relying on the run. Someone will either shut them down or put them too far behind to catch up. There are too many high powered offenses out there.
It has been a couple of years but if I am not mistaken (and I am know I am not) Texas City won a state championship with running the ball the entire game in the Championship. Therefore a 4A CAN AND HAS won STATE RELYING ON THE RUN....just saying do your research....believe Texas City's motto that year was something along the lines of "Better stop the run, because we pass for fun"
Lamarque won two state championships as well as Liberty Hill with the slot-t. It is a good offense and fits our kids and our scheme. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! I would't change anything...just keep winning baby! -

That was a disgusting display by a football team...and that team is a reflection of their coach. The officials were pathetic and allowed it to happen. Were Livingston's head coach half a man, he would have benched Collins and cooled him off. I'm really, really, really getting tired of these officials , who are getting paid, yet can't control the game, call it fair, know how many yards you get for offsides (it ain't 6) or what down it is. Hint: look at the scoreboard or this website. They're either blind or biased and It's sickening... -

I see Crosby beating LCM, and getting beat by Manor 2nd round. I see BH beating Livingston, and getting beat by Brenham 2nd round. That's my prediction today, could change. ;D
manor? really? you got some inside scoop on those guys? Who did yall play before district started?
I've heard several people claim 19-4A was the best district, which means they would have had to have been tested by now.
19-4A claimed they were the best district last year when they went 1 - 3 vs. 20-4A. Ned is right there in the mix for the state rankings and please, please sleep on my Pirates. What I will say is if we can get a D1 double header somewhere, that will be a good ticket of football for the day!!! -

Y'all act like getting score run up a kid is gonna land them in depression or something. Jeez it's just football y'all. They'll be okay. I once lost a game by 60 points. Did I go home and cry? No I played harder the next practice. Football is becoming too sissy-fied now a days. ::)
It's obvious you miss the intent of sportsmanship. You can beat me as bad as you can. You do not define me If I allowed that to happen, I have empowered you beyond the playing field. That is the same concept I pass along to my children. Luckily, I have never been on the losing side of a beat-down as an athlete. I have had to be a spectator to some. GCM was a first year school that opted to play a varsity schedule. It happens. No sissies here. Tides turn. Be prepared for the shoe on the other foot to one day kick you in the arse.
I'm an old Pirate GCM and let me tell you, we know full well what it's like for the shoe to be on the other foot. Jeff Mathews is one of the finest individuals you'll meet and I promise he would not intentionally do that. I'm still trying to figure out how this thread became an indictment of Vidor but I believe I found the source. There are those on this website who hate to see us win no matter what and could use a little humility themselves. Having been on the other end, when the wheels come off a good little league team could beat you. You take your lumps and learn from it. -

However, Vidor wasn't out to keep the score running up out of spite or anything else. When you put 2nd and 3rd string in and they run the ball and continue to score because the opposing team just can't tackle what are you supposed to do?? Kneel at the 1 yard line and give the ball to the opposing team?
Ned had a chance to score again with the backups against Ozen at the end of the game, we kneeled on the 3 yard line to end the game.
To me that's more of a slap in the face. It's almost as if you're saying, we know we're better and we could score if we wanted to, but we're gonna let you make it this game.
No, were saying the game is over and has been since the third quarter and we are not going to run up the score. Running up 66 points on a team is just asking for karma.
Here we go again with St. Littledog pontificating about his pius puppies NEVER doing anything wrong and incorrectly quoting statistics. I can remember us playing your homecoming and y'all running the score up with the starters or do you want me to put up the those statistics? Jeff emptied the bench against Lumberton and it was all he could do. He had the same mercy rule against png, believe it or not. I always wanted the other team to play hard so my team could learn; kneeling the ball is the worse thing to do. Take that holier than thou crud somewhere else. I do believe Nederland thought they were going to win that game also. ;D
They must have been the crack-headed daddy last year. We punked y'all to the tune of 3 - 1 in victories.
Vidor has some very big shoes to fill when we lose this Sr. class. Obviously starting with Quirante and most of our defense. The Freshman group sounds like they are pretty solid, so hopefully we will continue to be relevant in the playoff picture.
vhs, I do agree with you about big shoes to fill however, we'll be fine. You seen some of the Freshman games? Also, the Junior High has a group that is every bit as talented as the 2009 bunch, if not more. And, can you honestly tell me you saw this team coming in 2010? I wasn't willing to go out on a limb and say they would have the sort of year like 2011. Vidor football and Vidor sports in general have turned the corner...we have a coaching staff and program on a par with anybody's and are returning some good kids with experience. I'm not concerned about the future of Pirate football one iota. Whether we become "another Lumberton" I am willing to wager on with anyone in the area. Hamburger Depot on Tuesday nights, I'm easy to find.
