Maybe Vidor just needed to put a W in the win column.
Hey bh15, we have always had problems getting preseason games....I'm not going there. We played Texarkana Texas High the last two years preseason. It is sorta cool playing someone you've played against before although I would have loved to see us play someone like Brenham the first game. Anyway..... Vidor 35, Santa Fe 0. Jeff doesn't believe in running up the score but I think our defense will put points on the board.
Me too....  I would have liked to have seen that.  We still have a chance to meet up in the playoffs if 2 out of these 3 teams make the playoffs.  (Central, PNG, Nederland)  That would send your Pirates D2, which is where we'll be.
I asked Jeff Mathews about scheduling y'all and also Corsicana. My wife's family is from there. I would like to see us play some progressively better teams. I think our playoff run did help us to get the games with Santa Fe and Clear Brook. We've had a problem with that in the past.
 2. Tough being the best team in Orange County but not really being in Orange County. Perhaps we should start our own republic.

Last district game at home. 7. Ozen. They lost that great quarterback, o-line and their coaching is questionable IMO. 8. Santa Fe. 9. LCM. 5. It's hard to have this discussion without mentioning Bud Hebert from old Beaumont South Park High. He was all-state in about everything you can think of including tiddly winks. Heck of a long jumper. Went on to play football for U. of Oklahoma, I do believe.
My Panthers get no love on here, had it been about a fight we'd be on page 13 by now lol
Maybe it's because the Beaumont paper stinks in its' coverage of local sports. I don't think it's a matter of respect for Ozen. Both the PA News and Orange Leader have better local coverage. Hard to take them serious about anything.
Gave you an applaud on this one, BrenhamFan. I agree...  Vidor.
Thanks.  Haha.  Now hope PNG & the rest of 20-4A will make the pirates walk the plank, so we can avoid the Vidor talk. [/quote Yeah, good luck with that "walking the plank" crud BF. BTW, are you the only fan from Brenham? Jealousy breeds contempt. You enjoyed your time sitting with us "delusional" Pirate fans.
 9.
Most Delusional Fanbase is Vidor and mytwocents is there leader. After 2012, their back to being the Pirates of old! Had a good run with a good group of kids! Same as Lumberton in '07 & '08!!
Would you like to wager on that this year, JagWar? Do you even know the definition of "delusional" without having to look it up?

 11. Have you seen their high school? My niece lives two blocks away. It looks like the front of a university.

 13. skipper, I'd like to think that Vidor's defense is the reason you couldn't run the ball. We're returning nine starters from a defense that took us three rounds deep...including the entire defensive line. Jon Boy Smith is a beast and should get some serious looks from colleges.
 14.
;D ;D ;D thank GOD for that
WOS 42, LCM 14. Sezar will be the only saving grace for LCM....WOS is still WOS. Y'all only get better as the season goes forward. I miss the old WOS / Vidor district games....

 16.
this was a good one for both teams as we all saw last night, vidor is for real a ball control team that comes right at you and says stop me if you can.vidors OL is big and  fast and there blocking skills are very good and the coaching staff was smileing most of the night but still had a few brake downs at times but that will be fixed i am sure. now for wo-s i will say thay do have a good  DL and with speed  but had alot of brake downs and this will be fixed also i hope. vidor DL did not give salter much time to set up and lord hope the coaching staff can fix this  before friday nights game with lc-m if not it will be a very close game IMO,i wish the best for the vidor team this year i would love to see them go deep in the playoffs . PS PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR MY SPELLING
Your spelling is just fine skipper. We're all from the OC, we get a pass on spelling...
 17. I would give Livingston props if they didn't have to drive so far. I believe it really hurts them. Don't know why but they just don't do well when they play in our area. Were they in district with the New Caney teams, Huntsville, etc., might be a different story. I don't consider Central a dark horse...they just re-loaded. Watch Lumberton, they were scrappy last year......my pick. Top 4 in 20-4A: Vidor, Ned, PNG and Central based mostly on 80% coaching and about 20% talent.
 18.
Mathews is changing the culture and expectations in Vidor. I knew Coach Mathews from when my son played and had the pleasure of meeting him a few times at some of the 7 on 7 events and he is a great guy who really enjoys the kids.  I know it's early, but Vidor has probably become the front runner to win district at this moment, they still have to beat the Mid-County teams to get there but, they have the schedule to do it this year. They have to travel to Beaumont twice but have key games with Nederland, PNG and Livingston at home, this could be the year Vidor takes center stage and if it happens I'll be happy for Vidor and Coach Mathews, I'm still hoping they finish 2nd behind Nederland, but right now it looks like the district title goes through VIDOR.
I totally agree. Just wanted to call Jeff out...make him WORK!! Jeff knows me well.
 19. alright Jeff, last year you deserved that award. There was plenty of talk about who was the best coach in the area; I kept my mouth shut because I know how far you've taken our Pirates and didn't want to be droned out by fans whose coaches inherited a good program. I know you read this board. I believe the Pirates have the team to go very far, futher than last season. THIS YEAR, YOU HAVE TO EARN IT. SO, YOU AND THE REST OF THE PIRATE STAFF WORK YOUR BUTTS OFF AND EARN THIS!!!!
 20.
Brenham Fan enjoyed sitting with the Pirate faithful in the playoffs last year. Nearly talked him outta those green shoes and into some Black and Gold. We can make him an honorary Pirate....
 21. Get a life.....seriously, congrats on well ran board.
 22.
Vidor 42 Sante Fe 7--------------maybe
Agreed. Pirate offense looking good but Pirate defense is looking great! Maybe the best we've ever had.
 23. Yeah, I lost my computer so i haven't been able to post. Hey, seems to me if you have a local paper, you put stuff in it that interests the local people, even scrimmages.
 24. Sorry I had to miss this scrimmage. Bad week. Anyway, what you got to say about my Pirates now, Mr. Garrity?
