1. As an old high school sports junkie, if you've made it this far, you're a good football team. Period. The Pirates have proven they are a good football team on the Texas state level as has Angleton. One stat I think getting left out is that we force a lot of turnovers. Turnovers cost Montgomery against my Pirates and I believe it will be the difference against Angleton. I cannot speak for Angleton but the Pirates are a disciplined football team, in outstanding physical shape, well coached and we play with a lot of heart. Personally, I think we "let up" against Montgomery when we got such a big lead with 7:15 to play in the fourth. BIG MISTAKE against teams with great programs like the Bears. I expect Jeff to be more aware of this situation should it happen with Angleton. However, I expect the game will be close and dictated again by who turns the ball over.
 2. Let's all remember that the Indians barely lost to a Dayton team that was a member of 20-4A. They're 20-4A by proxy!!!!1
 3. Literally wearing the "N" in my window.... [move]GO BULLDOGS!!![/move]
 4. I just wish we could have covered it with a little "Quirante" sauce. Maybe now some of these knuckleheads will play us pre-district....
 5.
Let's bring Dayton too. Lol
Weren't they once a member of our district? Once 20-4A, always 20-4A!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!

They got outplayed, ouhustled, and yes OUTCOACHED (Imagine Ozen actually having good coaching...... ::)*sarcastically smh* ::)). Sorry cubbies :'( :'(. See ya in the playoffs in Bball. BTW.........all that "D1" talent, #19 national ranking, and #3 state ranking means NOTHING when faith, heart, determination, talent, skill, and leadership all come together at once. Congrats on a great season though Brenham, but the Panthers are so hot right now!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
I love the PearOrchardPanther logo. Some of us are old enough to know where the Pear Orchard is. Mighty Pirate band looked a little like the great Panther band last night, did a little more than just marched. Lotta love from us here in Snuff Gulley.
 7. The Black Pearl is ready to sail for all Buccaneers who care to board her!!! GO BUCS!!!

 9. I'm on my knees praying again....We both only have one more game to win to get the magical rematch I dream about for the Region III championship. The competition for both teams will be extremely tough....not much more to be said about it. Play your hearts out guys...I would put it in old English but we don't have that font choice. BTW, if you look on the back of my work car, one of ya'lls' fellow knuckleheads put the "N" on the back windshield next to the Pirate flag. It stays there until you lose.... [move]GO BULLDOGS!!!![/move]
Maybe.  OK,  let's try ameba,  ahmeebah,  oh here it is... amoeba! Give me a break,  I went to PNG.  BUT, at least I know the difference between to, too, and two.... unlike 80% of the posters on here.
What the heck is that supposed to mean?  My grammar and spelling are not flawless, but they are pretty close.
a·moe·ba [ ə mbə ]    1. single-celled organism: a single-celled organism found in water and in damp soil on land, and as a parasite of other organisms. When you look at one under a microscope,  it's just a blob that moves around in no particular shape.
I know what an amoeba is.  We were talking about "Rock-a-noo."
It's a PNG thing invictus, unfortunately we just add to the mystique of the name....

(Have to make sure I can get off) If we sweep y'all, their might not be a show.... :-\
In all honestly BrenhamFan i think 19-4A had a better chance at a sweep than yall do. All yall got is Brenham and Mont and after tonight you'll only have Brenham.  8)
SMH....  I really hope your not serious.  Our 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams all finished 5-2 in district.  The top half of 17-4A is good, even of you don't believe me.
And the second and third teams of 20-4A finished 5-2 in district. I think you have some pretty good teams in Stratford and MW but top 4 to top 4 we are a better district. And you will see that this weekend. Yes i know i'm looking to eat a lotta crow if i'm wrong but so are you if i'm right.  8)
Your kidding ,  right ? Vidor wouldnt stand chance in our district . I bet they would finish last or maybe at best , next to last . You'll see tonight . make sure that you save some room for that crow . Theres gonna be alot of it. NA NA NA NA NA NA HEY HEY HEY GOODBYE
How's that crow tastin' this morning??? Good luck Bears in basketball!!
Maybe they should've played 20-4As JV teams first....stay east of the Trinity 17-4A....
 12. Great Job Panthers. You know how we Pirates feel about ya'll. Lotta love from Snuff Gulley. REPRESENT PANTHERS!!!
 13. EZDawg, we probably totally agree and are just trying to say the same thing. This will be good conversation in the stands for the Region III championship between our schools at the PUS.

You deserve it by winning more district games. I'm not a fan of 4 teams in the playoffs in a district with 8 teams. It teaches mediocrity. Three should be the max , IMO, in a district with 8 teams, and 2 teams with a 6 team district. Sure it's great that Ozen is doing well, but I bet there are not many other 4th place teams still in the playoffs. It's more the exception than the rule. Growing up, I can never remember being excited in the 100m dash when I finished in 4th place out of 8 runners.
No problem EZDawg and I agree with you about our spoiled kid. I like California's way of doing it, I work there quite a bit, maybe we should split the state. I don't know the answer... Fellas, I don't think the issue is sending so many teams. It's the fact that Texas has so many kids in school it's hard demographically to make districts that are fair travel and otherwise to all the teams. It's either we take 4A and make two divisions out of it or we make 4A or add more As on the top end (7A?) and the teams travel across the state according to their size. There are a heck of a lot more kids and schools now than there were in the 70s when I was a kid. It's no more unrealistic now than when we (Vidor) had to play in a 5A district in the 90s when we had the same number of kids as PNG or Nederland. We played in 4 team districts in the 70s. Simple math.
I understand where you're coming from with travel and all, but back when you and I played, only the best team (s) made it to the playoffs, and it made it so that every game in district was important. Football (and sports in general) teach kids how to approach life. For example, I've observed a lot of young kids who want to work a 30 hour week and get paid a 40 hour week. Just look at the direction our country is going. I know AAW, we are suppose to discuss this in the political forum-sorry.  8) For me, it's more about the bigger picture...Again, JMO.
16.
Its because of the redistricting and Realignments of  the schools
California has to do the same thing. They split the state in half and the winners north and south play each other in a state championship. It's an issue for both states due to their size geographically and demographically. Think about this since the thread is about throwing everything back to the way it was in the 70s-80s, what if you couldn't make a school with over 2000 students? How many more schools would there be in Texas then????
 17.
How about "Home For the Holidays"?
My favorite as well. Topped with a lot of crow, of course. BrenhamFan should have known it was gonna be rough sailing today after last night. AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!

How about this....let's all have a great Christmas party in Arlington!!!!  I'll bring the eggnog. And some Gentlemen Jack ;)
He didn't forget. I'll bring the Captain Morgan. aaarrrrgggghhhhh BTW, the Black Pearl has room for all. It'll be sailing out of Beard's Bayou next Friday....

 20. If my math's correct: 17-4A out. 19-4A nearly out. who's 20-4A's next victim??? And A&M joined the SEC? Ya'll all better stay east of the Trinity....just sayin'.
last time i checked we haven't been here in 47 years. Give us a break man.
My thoughts exactly. Anyone who remembers me from the old boards knows I don't value other people's opinions anyway. We deserve this. And it is America, you don't have to read it (at least right now). You Bulldogs just keep winning and we'll do the same and meet up against each other for the Region III championship at the PUS.
 23. Well, us Vidorians who like high school football are usually watching someone else this time of year. Continue on your journey and represent Orange County, GO MUSTANGS!!!
 24. We beat a real good football team last night. I don't put anything past our kids anymore.
 25.
Even if they hadn't won a single game, we'd still be proud of them.  I think every little boy in Vidor grows up wanting to play football for the Pirates (even my son and he only lived there 2 years).  They all believe they are going to be "different" than the past and win.  These boys are exceeding everyone's expectations and are still going strong.  Someone said these are good memories for them.  These are good memories for the entire city and for anyone who ever graduated from Vidor High School. My dad was a senior in 1964.  He is so proud of this team, he's had a smile on his face for weeks.
I agree invictus....I endured the Interstate 10, Vidor 0 jokes and the 0-44 losing streak we went through. Couple that with the "racist" brand we've had to carry and it makes these kids all that more special. Our community has always centered around the school and that football team and we fill the stands even when we can only win one game.
