I've been watching this kid since junior high and just wanted to do a little shout out to the greatest rusher in Pirate history, Haylon Leckelt. Haylon's been a four year starter with the Pirates, playing both running back and an occasional spot on the defense. Quoting the Vidor Vidorian:
"On the following play Haylon Leckelt got the call and gained 16 yards and a spot in the record book as he became the Pirates' all time rusher with 4494 career rushing yards, 14 over the previous record of 4478 yards held by Tim Hagler since 1982. Calling a timeout, players and coaches rushed the field to congratulate Leckelt on his record breaking accomplishment."
Enough said. Thank you Haylon for all the memorable plays over your career with the Pirates!! Good luck in the future and we all hope to see you get four more years running with the football for someone on Saturdays.

Probably?  Yes.  In fact, when I was discussing the playoff situation with Gabe for his column this weekend, I had originally told him that Nederland could clinch the final playoff spot this weekend based on this.
But I had to walk that back and can only agree to "probably" as your scenario assumes a Central win in Week 11 and while I agree that will probably happen, I have seen teams spit the bit with bigger advantages.
 

I think the Indians want to knock you guys out more.

I keep changing my thoughts on who will be the fourth team out of district and this playoff game has me in a tizzy. Central has the kids but their coaching is inept at best. Livingston has the edge on coaching. Whoever wins this game has the upper hand on the playoffs because I'm just not sold Nederland can beat the Indians at the Rez when you know how desperately the purple indians wanna win. I'm gonna go with my gut and our true rival the Jaguars to win out and make the playoffs. Central 35 - Livingston 21.

Honestly, I thought they would be. Splendora is next. That area is growing so fast, you have great facilities, good coaching, big influx of money and people = formula for success. The Cleveland area will follow. There's a lot to be said for changing US 59 into IH 69. A lot more money, industry, etc. always follows the improvement of infrastructure throughout history. I can remember playing NC back in the mid-2000s and there wasn't a lot of nothing that way. My how times change. Hard for schools that are stagnant in growth to keep up.  

That gimmick offense abused y'all a few years ago and went 3 deep in the playoffs. Y'all knew what was coming an still couldn't stop it. Even with 11 in the box. It's just a smash mouth offense. Just saying.

Correct! I don't sell the Pirates short and Nederland will be playing for a post season spot at MCM. Of course, all of the media will be at MCM and could give a flip about Vidor vs. PAM for district title (which it will be for). I can tell you now, our kids really, really want to win district and play Memorial. At home in the Boneyard against the top team in 22-5A, you couldn't ask for anything better!

Porter's a lock with 5 victories and tie breakers. Do the math...there are 9 teams in your district. Humble not going to run the table. Your district is set.

Final: Jasper 41, Tatum 17. Nice win for the Dawgs that puts them in the driver's seat for the district title. 

For 2 teams at 7-1 & 6-1 that was a pretty weak crowd for a 5a football game.  

That no call though took 7 points away.  That's the point.  It would have been 21-14 @ the half with Central gaining some momentum and getting the ball to start the 2nd half.  Wouldn't expect you to understand. 

Then Mathews became the coach, Interstate takes an arse whuppin' every year.

Huckleberry....I like that. I got called bombastic earlier in the week. Next two weeks gonna be a lot of fun.
