Herm Edwards made a good point in the post game comments. This team is young and really doesn't know Romo as the QB; he really hasn't been the full time starter since 2014. Dakota is consistent and this has the entire team playing at a high level because he is the only starter for more than two games in a row any of them really know. The rest of the components were there...they just needed leadership. Dakota does that.

I'm for it because of the disparity among some schools. No matter how you slice it, a school of Lumberton, Livingston or Ozen's size has little to no chance of competing against a 2000+ student school. Period. Second, if you made the cut at the 1050 - to 1100 range you bring a lot of similar sized schools into to play such as Huffman Hargrave and LCM. You wouldn't have a small 5A school being arbitrarily stuck into Div1 and having to play an on the bubble 6A school in the playoffs with no chance of winning. 1050 - 1600 pretty well puts all of our schools stuck in population decline in 5A Div 2, 1601 to 2100 Div1 with the growing powerhouses on the east side of Houston (like BH, NC, etc.). We wind up with districts consisting of 6 - 8 team combinations. Beaumont schools could and should realign their school zones to bring all three into the 5A but that ain't happening. Lastly, I know a lot of you hate the 4 team playoff designation but that will never change. It's about money and fits nicely into the UIL's narrative of playing football until Xmas. Besides, Texas is growing so fast they need to do this to accommodate the expansion. A good example is College Station creating two 5A schools out of the one 6A school (A&M Consolidated) they had. Better opportunities for the kids to compete. One caveat...if you want the district championship to mean something other than being a paper title, make the first round of the playoffs at home for that champion. Then you would have something.

Day in and day out, Silsbee, WOS and all of these schools have no chance playing bigger classification schools on a regular basis. You just don't have enough kids to cover the positions without some kids going both ways...they will wear you out. Good example: WOS vs. Richmond Foster. Over the course of a season, the injuries, etc. rack up and you lose. Fair is fair. 

I heard them say it...and I said we didn't even play them...lol
WOS is not as big as PAM. No competition at the QB position...Dallas has that locked down. WOS seems more experienced and has the edge on Defense. I dont think we would have put up as many points on the chain gang. It would be a good game if the two teams were to play.

no offense brother Pirate but you always play to win...those kids want to win district and if that game is anywhere near close they're gonna want (and need) to play it out. You can get an injury just as easy playing Lee. You want momentum going into the playoffs, IMO.

OK, OK, there is a little disclaimer at the bottom asking for y'alls' thoughts. I considered putting Vidor on here but was concerned about being called biased. Besides, since 2009 the Pirates are 46 - 38 with three playoff appearances; this year withstanding (number 4). Like most of y'all, I start threads to stir the pot a little and IMO, these are my five. You are or course, welcome to your opinion. Evadale was expected to do good but they haven't been phenomenal over the last decade and I was pointing out that they might make a good run in the playoffs. Besides, I'll bet half the people on this board can't find Evadale on the map. Take them off, put us on it and there ya' go! AAW, Liberty has had only one winning season since 2000, (2011) according to lonestarfootball.net. I didn't go back further because that sorta proved my point.

Coaching is everything in high school football. PNG 35 - PAM 28 PAM needs to sell me on how good they are. Beating a down in the ditch Nederland was one thing; a flying high Purple Haze is another.

I'd project Vidor winning 42-34.  Imo, Livingston is not a bad team, as most were saying prior to district.  
Curious to know what you, or other Livingston fans predict.
PS:  Hope you get to go.  Vidor does put on a Great Homecoming performance.

Trading beads with the purple Indians, onsides kick, Indians in black and white striped uniforms...time to sail the Black Pearl back to port. It's homecoming and we do it better than anyone. Here's what's on the line; you win and you're THE FIRST to qualify for the playoffs. You win and a share of the district championship is still in sight of our guns. You win and we right the Black Pearl and prepare for a probable first round game with the greatest high school football team (self-proclaimed) ever in the history of football, Cosby. You win, and the rest of the year is really fun. You win out and a PAM or nederville victory against the purple Indians = a district championship. People have been talking you guys down all year; time for that to change.
 
 
This is our week. This is homecoming week where people who haven't seen you play in years come back expecting the old Vidor from 20 years ago that wins 3 games in a good season. Let's surprise the HE11 out of them! BTW, don't mind the old drunk people in the video below, concentrate on the cheerleaders and the song (it's you guys 40 years later...if you're lucky).

Livingston passes a lot. Vidor d backs need to get ready. Vidor should run the ball well though. I think is too strong for Livingston. But Vidor can't over confident 'cause Livingston could sneak up on them.

He's good, really good but I believe y'all will out-athlete them. All y'all gotta do is throw it up to McZeal. No doubt Westerberg will have some rabbits to pull out....
