I have a hard time with the Carthage football posters talking smack about Silsbee's basketball team. Carthage: the new Cosby.

WOS vs. Celina in the finals. From that point it's a toss up. My heart is with the Ponies.

Silsbee just beat 5A #5 Beaumont Central 73 - 70 with a bunch of freshman. You want to wager in basketball, I'm your boy.

Well, it's on his twitter now lol. Mason Sikes, the soon to be two time first team all-district tight end from Lumberton. 

Another local kid was offered today. Great they're recognizing the talent in the area.

Central can gripe all they want but all I know (and BG and AWW can back me up when I say I am far from a basketball expert) is that this Silsbee team is beyond impressive. How many starters are they missing? How many total players are they missing? And they just beat the No. 5 Class 5A team in the state?
Applause to Silsbee. That is scary good right there. 

I've been saying Silsbee was plenty good without the football boys.  The ones they have now are just as good.  However, when they were down to 5 players in OT, not hard to see where the depth is going to help immensely.  
May have some more joining the voting Silsbee #1 in the Dirty Dozen next week.     This team is for real.

Central in my mind can't use any excuse when another team is missing about 4 of 5 starters if I remember right. Central was going to be awesome without the big man or not.

Hello SETX fans!  This is my first post on this site because my confirmation email was in my Spam folder & I wasn't able to get onboard until now! 
First, about Carthage blowing Silsbee out of the water this Friday night; I think that's going a tad overboard. We are both coming down to the nitty gritty & those one sided victories are probably not going to happen here. 
The Navasota game was a war between two evenly matched adversaries who were playing Life or Death for the chance to advance. No One in th' place had a Clue who was leaving as the winner until Eppler fumbled the pitchout to the RB on their final drive toward the goal with 1:02 left to play! 
Being a Carthage "homer", I have us as a 10 point favorite. I just hope everyone stays safe both to & from the game, & hope we have a good clean penalty free game & may the winner advance to the Championship & take the Crown!

I thought it was kinda funny that Navasota played Cherokee in front of a bunch of barking Dogs and look what happened....

and saw one helluva football game. Worth every penny. Thank you Carthage and Navasota for playing it here.

I'm just going to assume I'm one of the posters some are talking about. Well yes I declare a Carthage victory before the coin toss. That's what a prediction is, a declaration of victory for the team you pick. I find it comical that while others make their picks it's ok but as soon as a Carthage fan says that Carthage is better and they will win, it's all of a sudden disrespect. Silsbee is very good no doubt. That's why they are still in it but I think my team is better but for some reason that rubs people the wrong way. Can Silsbee win? Yes, but I just don't see it. One poster even said Carthage people live and die for football and I'm trying to figure out how he came to that conclusion. I guess that's the curse of success. Anytime you pick Carthage to win you're arrogant. 

Lumberton has some sort of indoor practice facility but I'm not sure if it's big enough for football.. They got it after I graduated so idk.. I'm sure we would let our village creek neighbors use it for a week! Lol
