1. Carthage is not 150 miles from Jasper. 8)
2. Close... But I'm 150 miles away now. But I still wear my tall rubber boots!
3. Whoever they bring in needs to beware of what lies in the tall grass! A CCopperhead is lurking! 8)
4. I keep reading the same things... Last 10 years... Administration.... Who could this be...
5. Spreadguy7 you've posted this twice... Where have you heard this? That sounds a little crazy?
6. It doesn't say he did not like the direction the program was headed. Everyone knows he had the program headed in the right direction. He said, "the vision for Jisd athletics has changed" to me this is very obvious that he has been handcuffed!
7. That is not true. It had nothing to do with them not renewing his contract. This should be a red flag for any decent coach that would be interested in this job.
8. Jasper is a circus!! :o There is one man behind all this and it's not right.
9. The Administration ran him out. Really sad! He had that place headed in the right direction. Jasper will always struggle with the leadership the currently have.
10. Look at where your getting your facts. Jasper is not the one that couldn't work it out. Here's the schedule for Jasper. ( Don't see anything anything NORTH.) Wk 0 - Liberty Wk 1 - Orangefield Wk 2 - Kirbyville Wk 3 - WOS Wk 4 - TBA Wk 5 - Bridge City
11. Wow! :) [Hidden Content]
12. Congrats Coach from up north! Looks like trouble for setx in the future! Sure hope we don't end up in that old district.
13.
YES  the young man karion morrisey of our Jasper Bulldogs is on pace (and would have for sure had he played entire game last week against Huntington) to be the all time varisty rusher in  Jasper history. (with the yards he got last year while playing quarterback and the totally awesome yard total to this point this year). For those of you old enough and or know the history of very good backs Jasper has had over the years u can/will  appreciate what a great accomplishment for the young man it will be!!!  So Karion  "GO DOG GO !!""
He had another big night Friday!! He and his offensive line took over the game in the second half. I don't think they punted all night.
14. Harrison from CS. Stud!
15. The Morrisey kid in Jasper has 1270. News paper had him at 303 on 12 carries in the 1st half (didnt play 2nd half) last week!!!! That's insane! :o
16. He has my vote!
17. Rome wasn't built in a day! These guys will be just fine.
18. All I can say is Carthage really will miss coach Morgan. He is an amazing coach and even better man. You guys in Jasper have got a GREAT one. You will see soon enough... Goodluck!
19. Morgan was at Copperas Cove and Texas High before Carthage. I'd say he has been at some pretty good places, I was also told he comes from a family of coaches with two brothers,  one in the NFL and the other at Lufkin or Longview not sure which.
20. I agree with you J Dog. When you've got it, you've got. Age doesn't matter. There is a reason they are hiring 31 year old Head Coaches in the NFL! P.S. LloydChristmas, How many "RINGS" does your dog in this hunt have? ;D
21. I've been watching East Texas football for about 25 years now. I'm from EF. And I've been a EF and Marshall fan for the the past few decades. But the past 2 years or so I've found myself cheering for Carthage in December. I have a good friend, who used to be the AD/HC at EF is now on the Carthage staff. In November 2008 I went to SFA to watch a playoff game between the highly favored Gilmer Buckeyes and the Carthage Bulldogs. That night I became a huge supporter of Carthage football and head coach Scott Surratt. Since that night I have kept up with Carthage, and have been to 10+ games since. The thing that makes them so special is there COACHING STAFF. Yes they have great athletes, but most of us do in east Texas. I've seen the great John Tyler's, Longviews, Lufkins, Jaspers, Kilgores, Gilmer's, and now Carthage... These guys are not your normal high school coaches. THEY ARE SPECIAL. This is why I commented on this thread. I've been reading this for a few weeks. And I have to clear a few things up. The 3 names everyone is hearing are close to what I've heard. I've heard Alvarez, Carthage Coord. (which is the DC Coach Morgan) and another South east texas 2A Head coach i'm leaving blank because no one has mentioned him on here yet. The two biggest issues I read on here from Jasper fans are the lack of defense and discipline in the program. Well it was the same way at Carthage before these guys showed up. They were average on defense and offense, and there was no discipline. People I have talked to at the Carthage games I've attended the past few years, say that they were more talented before these coaches got there. And that the reason they are so dominant now is because of the discipiline and relationships these coaches build with the kids. I went to the Jasper vs Carthage game last year in Jasper. I believe the final was 27-3 Carthage or 24-3. Something like that. IMO, Jasper probably had more talent on the field that night. Jasper's program is just the right coach away from not being "good" but being "Great" The talent is there. If it were me I wouldn't look any farther than the BACK 2 BACK 2 BACK state champs staff for your next coach. P.S. To me both schools are similar. The baseball programs are big if not bigger than the football programs.   Does anyone know how many state championships Jasper has won in BASEBALL??
22. Kid outta Spring Dekaney. Trey Williams is his name... Best I have seen since Dwight Smith of Carthage a few years back. Oh and Johnathan Gray... Haha (He is alright)
23. My vote goes to Henry Winters... STUD
