  1. Silsbee is loaded with atheletes on the regular. The fact they have not won championships in football is not because the district pours more into basketball than football. To the contrary, the basketball program has not only won championships, but won period for a long time in spite of. It was only when Silsbee got an Administration that afforded the basketball program some of the same amenities as football,(ie: basketball class and the ability to go play outside the immediate area to name a couple), that Silsbee got over the hump championship wise. Football has had those amenities and more. Monetarily, there is no comparison between the two when it comes to outlay. Comparing this athletic program to to others in the area (WOS, Newton, etc) is really comparing communities. The Silsbee community values all their sports not just one or two. Bigger, stronger, faster works well for football, but basketball requires a level of skill that can only be attained through skill development. When bigger, stronger faster meets skilled in basketball, skilled at that game usually wins out at a more consistent rate. I will end with this, Silsbee is unlike anywhere else in this area. They don't take down the basketball goals or prevent basketball practices from happening or even games from taking place until football season ends. Why? because there are other students that are trying to be the best they can at their sport and are not afraid to go play schools while under manned. Before someone asks, yes I KNOW these things first hand.
  2. I have never seen a vaccine do these things either, but that is because it is the virus that is doing these things and not the vaccine. The vaccine is doing what it is supposed to do and that is lessen the chances of people dying from this virus. Flu vaccines and others do not eradicate the disease the just lessen the complications of them and lessen the occurrence of them. Those vaccines that are taken by your children just to go to school, didn’t completely eradicate most of the maladies, they are just not prevalent anymore because everybody has developed antibodies over the years to fight them off because of said vaccines. Given time, the same thing will happen here.
  3. Houston and Dallas are able to get away with recruiting because they are their own DEC (District Executive Committees). the entire 4a district in HISD and DISD work for the same AD respectively. What coach is gonna report kids transferring for athletic purposes within their district with the threat of losing their job hanging over their head because the district is loading up their "showcase school" ? Also, just like basketball kids are steered to Yates in this way, football kids are steered to a certain school(s) as well. That's why small towns can fair well against most of the other Houston schools and not these. As stated before, if these schools have this unfair advantage then they should either be in 5 or 6a or in their own league. And yes, there are exceptions when talking about small towns competing. However, in most instances, small towns cannot compete on a consistent basis.

dang, is that on varsity or lower levels

  9. Was told WOS only has 5 players. Silsbee still has their 6. Playing with 6 is tough but Playing with 5, next to impossible because of injury, foul trouble, etc.
  10. also played jr,high in silsbee
  11. AMEN!!!
  12. I agree with respecting him for not pointing out other programs. but don't point out your own in a public forum either. Everyone else handles theirs in house, why not do the same.
  13. I can be found at any of the basketball, football, track meets and baseball games in the playoffs. And trust me I was courtside for each and every one of those games you say I complained about. Here's the thing, he is not being lectured, and I never said he was not supportive. But if he is gonna make statements like his original one, like his alma mater is the only program that supposedly needs cleaning up, then he ought to be willing to make the same statement about the other programs that supposedly need it in this open forum as well. Whether his services are deserved or not, Silsbee doesn't need those services if he is going to make those type comments. No he is not blind and neither are you sir. However as I stated before, even coaches themselves have to watch film to catch things they miss. If AAW felt that strongly about it then why not go talk with the people who could do something about it instead of throwing them under the bus. And before you say it, I KNOW he has not talked with them.
  14. Trust me when I tell you that I KNOW just as much or more, and even coaches need game film....I also know exactly who he is sir.
  15. First of all, just because you choose to ignore or non comment about the other teams' kids actions in all this doesn't mean they don't have kids just like Silsbee's talking and taking cheap shots during games. ( all you have to do is get some film of these games and see for yourself) It doesn't seem to be too difficult to do so. Secondly, I think most of us were embarrassed by "the fight" and the kid that deserved to be punished the most was and has paid his debt so that is not the issue here. The issue here is just because Silsbee seems to be the common denominator in these incidents does not mean they have not taken a long hard look at themselves. Contrary to what has been published, Silsbee has long had a Technical foul punishment in place in their program and it has been used over the course of the last 6 years or so. These confrontations you speak of, outside of the Jasper incident, have all taken place within the district, most notably with the Orange county schools. Silsbee never has these issues when they play anywhere else (Houston, Dallas, Sherman, San Antonio, Beaumont, La Marque, Cleveland, etc). So maybe, just maybe, the problem is something else.....I don't know, like some people don't like their style of play (in your face defense) or maybe point spreads, heck I don't know. What I do Know is you are right, Silsbee is very talented, but that doesn't mean that they ought to just allow themselves to become a whipping board for everybody that chooses to use tactics that are not part of the game. I too am a long time Silsbee Tiger. If you would like to discuss this further I would welcome the conversation in person.
