I shudder to think how many MORE yards he would have if he had the O-line that Gray and Aledo does. This kid sounds like a freight train as he runs by you! Everyone in the stadium(in the COUNTY, for that matter) at Buna Friday night KNEW he was getting the ball and he still went for 475, I believe. Amazing athlete! And West Sabine is a 1A school, for all those that were asking. We had so much respect for his kick return abilities we never punted or kicked it to him the entire night.

I got to see him up close and personal at the West Sabine game, and he is a full grown man in a 15 year old's body. Think he has close to or over 1,000 yards already in 4 games. A Bo Jackson-type athlete in my opinion. Body of a fullback and sprinter's speed. I'm originally from West Sabine but this kid is a special talent that still has growing to do. Just hope he stays healthy.

I say Buna in a shootout. Not much passing gonna be done in this game!

I work in Hemphill, and believe me they were chirping about the 18 penalties for 160 yards they got all last weekend. The officiating was horrible on both sides, and I got to see it field level. An example: WS QB fakes to the RB, and the back judge follows the RB and whistles him down, which under normal circumstances would be ok, but the WS QB still had the ball running up the right sideline! Guess it was an awesome fake on WS QB's part, eh? The refs were just HIGHLY incompetent, not malicious, however. You're right about moving on because both teams may have their hands full as WS takes on a rejuvenated San Augustine squad in Pineland and Hemphill travels to Joaquin to battle the Rams and their vaunted Wing-T offense(which, if run right, is awful tough to defend). Good luck to both teams!

That is true, but Lacey also had 175 yards passing in addition to that 200 yards rushing and he was in on 5 of our 8 TDs(2 rushing, 3 passing). And don't forget Williams had close to 250 total yards and 3 TDs as well(2 rushing, 1 recieving). Our yards were spread out over 2 or 3 players instead of having one go off. Both QB's had career nights!

This game will not be for the faint of heart. These two are practically mirror images of the other, running the ball and playing stout defense.  I'll say 21-14 Newton at the gun.

That is so true about the officiating, and the time being kept on the field was a joke! Think we played pro length quarters!!!!!!!! The defense will show up this week, and as for our clock, the last time I seen it it was working! Got people from SA talkin smack about how we can't stop one man! They forget how many times they fumbled last year(10) and they got most of the same players back! We will see Friday night...........

Ok. We'll see Friday night won't we? Last Friday was a fluke and it won't happen two weeks in a row! We'll also see if you all can hold on to the ball, unlike last year (10 fumbles and 2 or 3 int's). And we will also see if yall can stop that one man later on this year. Heard yall's coach has got em goin in the right direction though. Yall didn't exactly beat a powerhouse in Colmesneil, you know.

I was on the sidelines last Friday, and from the look in the WS players eyes I would NOT want to be San Augustine this Friday! The defensive performance against Hemphill last week was a fluke for WS. Think the Tigers bounce back at home, but no shutout like last year. I'll say 38-21 WS.

I was at the game where Twine played and he went OFF! Deserving of this award. If he had hadn't had two runs called back for holding penalties (each were at least 40 yards and were TD's) he would have not only broke but shattered Kenneth Hall's 587 yard single game record. If those scores had counted, the single game scoring rcord would have been in jeopardy too. I know I am singing his praises but I am from West Sabine not Hemphill :):):)! Best performance by an athlete high school, college, or pro that I have ever seen. Honored to have been a small part of history.

I was at this game and I believe it was the best performance I have ever seen by an athlete high school, college or pro. That kid is lightning in a bottle. If they could just get another option on offense to take the pressure off him Hemphill would go far! The only thing that will keep him out of the playoffs is his team's defense.

Playing dirty? How so? We had our fair share of holding penalties sure, but dirty implies something else entirely. From evidence I have seen personally from the 1st game this year we have "cleaned up our act", so to speak. If there was intentionally dirty plays last year I would have seen them. Not a homer here, for I would be the first to fess up if my team was guilty of anything. If it happened I didn't see it, but you may have had a different perspective than I did on the sidelines (i.e. in the pressbox). Just curious, not starting anything.

Trying not to be a homer here, but with what I've seen so far with West Sabine, I see them making the 3rd round at LEAST! All depends on the matchups......

Are their last names Young and Paige? Young got their 2 tds in last years game. Did their conditioning appear better? I mean, were any of em gassed by the 4th qtr like last year?

There are numerous teams in all the divisions lurking just outside of the top 10, waiting for teams ahead of them to falter so they can slided ahead of them. These are just preseason, however. On paper. Let's play some BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did they look out there? Were they able to run the offense more smoothly?

Think they used him mainly as decoy in the game we played at Lovelady last year, either that or he was injured. That little sophomore rb they had last year(junior now), name was Kelly I believe. Was small but he could motor! Got us for at least 3tds. They will be the the team to beat in this district, and it's like Ric Flair always said, "To be the man, you gotta beat the man!". That being said, I believe it will be West Sabine and Lovelady once again vying for the district crown with West Sabine coming out on top. Defense is a year older and a year wiser. It will be a great game though, probably the toughest they will play until (God willing) the playoffs. Each year plays out different, however. Only 5 more days.......................................................
