BISD Votes to Merge Central and Ozen beginning in 2018-19

I doubt it. The ones that would quit in Beaumont are already not playing. Go read my post from yesterday about Quitters. Being pushed is what these kids need and will bring out the best in them, it's in their DNA. Now Bridge City on the otherhand... -

You think? All he would do is have to show his 2016 ring to get the kids to buy in but he isn't leaving WO-S. How old is he by the way? -
The only bad part is instead of going in as the #1 seed and playing the #4 seed from another district, they'll go in as the #4 seed and play the #1 seed.

In my opinion, it is good to open ALL the head positions up. Not saying that none of the former in-house coaches won't get their respective position (I believe girls volleyball, girls basketball and girls track will stay in-house) but why not see what outside candidates apply? The AD, BOM's, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent want an outside hire for football from what I was told. Hell, no outside candidates might even apply for the football coach. In that case you might have to go with Nelson or Taylor. I just think it would be harder for the Central kids to buy in to Taylor (3-15) vs Ozen's kids buying in to Nelson (21-31) if it comes down to that. The only argument that I've heard from Ozen faithful on Nelson is his run in's with UIL. With the application deadline being February 9th, we will be able to find out who all applied shortly after that. I do know that the plan is to have a coach in place by spring break, if not sooner and to do spring football in May. -

Grad is there a set time they usually release the districts? I need to schedule my work around it -
I totally agree! Happened to us this year and it was a front office mistake.
-
Will 5 district losses make them miss the playoffs?
-
Yea, I have a bad feeling we will wind up with the Northeast Houston schools instead of the Southeast Houston which would be a tad easier...

WOSGrad, is the server ready for the spike in activity that it will get tomorrow? We don't need the forum crashing... -
Central/Ozen...
-
No pull by any means, just stay blowing up peoples phones and attending various meetings. I hope they keep "Oh they want some" and the song that Ozen does, I can't recall the name...

From what I've heard if an outside hire is made, they will have to keep at least a few from both schools. Me and you both know, they can hire and outsider but as soon as the next pretty hire paying job that is closer to their home comes calling, they are gone. Hopefully it want be until after the 3rd season so that all the current Central and Ozen students will have graduated. -
Me personally, I think it's something else. As a father of 7, 6 that are involved in extracurricular activities, I think this generation is full of quitters created by their parents. What do I mean by that? For example, I'll use my oldest child. Junior in high school currently at Central who plays football and runs track. He didn't do this but what if when he was playing with the Bulls and they were just getting started with their workouts in July/August in the dead heat of summer, he came home one day from practice and said he quit, he doesn't want to play football anymore? It's too hot, they are making us run too much or he doesn't like the contact that comes with football. Or if when he started running the hurdles in 7th grade, he wanted to quit because the hurdles hurt too much if you miss time one and all of the conditioning that goes into track. If I would have let him quit, he wouldn't have the opportunity to start at WR for the "new noname" high school in 2018. He wouldn't have made it to Regionals in the 300 M Hurdles as a Sophomore and have paperwork coming in saying that colleges coaches are taking note. A lot of these parents now a days would go turn in their kids equipment for them and say to the coach that my child doesn't want to play or run anymore. Not at my house. We are going to sit down and have a discussion about why he wants to quit. I would hear him out, listen. But then I would interject and finish the conversation with "We don't quit anything during the season. You will finish the season, then we will have this discussion again once the season is over with and see if you feel the same way." If at that time, he still felt the same way, then I would let him quit. Quitting is what's wrong with this society, especially in Beaumont. When these same kids get older, become adults and get a job or married and the going gets tough or they are faced with adversity, they quit the job or wind up getting a divorce. They don't know how to persevere, adapt and overcome. Just some of my thoughts...
