Leftover talent from the Stowers era. Those kids were underclassmen then and was coached up and knew how to win. When that last crop (2010) came and gone, it was in the dumps after that.

Remember, this was the same regime that let 10 players play on defense for about 6 minutes in a game that we lost...

A middle school could've beaten Central's previous regime aka The 3 Stooges. Last year was a 2 score game that could've been close had our qb not had the worst game of the season (4 picks thrown).

So beating Central last year was luck? Is it still luck if you beat Central 3 or 4 years straight? Hmmm ... well, here's to luck..ha ha if that's what your calling it now.  I call it a quality team.  Things can change year to year, but the last 3 have been quite well for us.  Looking forward to seeing how this year, and the next, and the next and so on goes for the DOGS.  Nothing lasts forever, but it is fun to see them do well and have good seasons.  Isn't that what fans from other schools want to see from their teams as well.  PA bumps their gums a lot and disrespects what our program has accomplished over the past several years .... at least that is how it appears to me. Y'all whine about wanting to play little 'ol Nederland so much ... I wonder why you aren't wanting to play better talent in your own classification? I sure don't hear you asking to play KATY TIGERS !  ha ha and why is that?

Central matches up well with us most years. 24-23 loss to them at the buzzer I have no real issue with. Did you watch the game? I know I watched the puppies play em. Thankgoodness for yall sake yall had that DLine or it might have been a different outcome.

I make this really quick...

#1. Those "ex players" you speak of are only there because them or their parents KNEW they would spend their high school careers as the #3 or #4 players at Memorial.

#2. 9 times out of 10, Those players/parents(from PA) that decided to take their talents to the middle of Jefferson County end up with nothing to show for their efforts. (Scholarships, scholly whatever you to call it)

#3. I know the few responses will be "Quality of Education", well let me just cut that of before it even gets started. If little"Susie" or little "Johnny" WANTS to learn they're going to learn. If they want be "dumb as a box of rocks" that's what they're going to do also. No matter WHAT SCHOOL they attend.

Now with that being said, good luck to the Bulldogs. Hopefully they continue that district win streak. Aleast for the next two years when realignment rolls around again, because those a South County Titans have been known to end streaks.

Texas City almost always has quality talent on the field. I'm glad we had a good showing against that type of talent. O-line and D-line work is about technique. We'll be ready on kickoff night. I've heard we have good size and strength in the trenches. So that's a plus...

Anyone who was around from the mid 1980s-mid 1990s watched how WOS dominated EVERYONE in the area. They became the gold standard under Dan Hooks. Very much like Pa Lincoln in basketball. Many of you youngsters don't remember that WOS was a 5A school for much of that time, then dropped to 4A, then 3A (new 4A).
I remember one year that we (Nederland) ONLY lost 28-7 to WOS. I say ONLY bc WOS was beating everyone 40, 50-0.
It seems that ever since, WOS has been the measuring stick for everyone.

What is amazing is year end year out, whether it is a scrimmage or a real game; everyone gauges their team when they play WOS. A tribute to how good, how respected, and the long running tradition of WOS being the team everyone wants to beat.

That '03 team had the talent all over the field to win state that year... Lost to the state champions, Bay City... If Ozen is THAT loaded now, we would've seen shades of that last year. I didn't see it. I know they'll be good, but like I've said before....

Sure, I've herd of schools de-funding their athletic programs. Some years back I read about a program. But BISD won't do this. They will probably make cuts in travel, purchases, etc.

Being a former BISD kid, there wasn't a BISD Police force back then and things operated pretty well. If there was a problem, the real poli e officers are called in and/or a coach or male teach was called in to stop the confusion. Also, parents were more involved and proactive on a lot of situations.

The current BISD police are always seen doing nothing... Some of thwm do a piss poor job doing their job even when a situation presents itself. Also, its been rumored for several years now that there are many of the BISD police that's doing a lot of inappropriate things toward and around the students..

WOW!  Cut out what could be the one and only thing that keeps a lot of kids off the streets and prevents them from doing wrong and actually gives them a REASON to "make the grade" and keep on keepin on!!!  I know the article did say its not just athletics being looked at to compensate for the budget deficient and that is only fair.  I agree that there needs to be cuts all across the board; I just hate that the KIDS are having to pay the price for the ADULTS sticky fingers.

Receivers ate out there to catch passes. Not outrun anyone... When the pass is caught, then the kid's job is done. That kid made plays all night... Don't feel bad. He made plays even on the district powerhouse, Nederland ( :rolleyes: ) and that state power, Summer Creek.. ;)

Vs. West Brook - Rivalry game... West Brook was more prepared.

Vs. WO-S - Conflict of interest

Vs. Ozen, Lumberton, LC-M, Vidor, and Livingston - the better team won.

Vs. PN-G - 1 play away from a win in a triple OT thriller on the road

Vs. Nederland - 2 score loss in a game in a horrible game where our qb threw 4 interceptions and an unreal performance from their Receiver

Vs. Summer Creek - went toe to toe with the best team on paper that we played and lost on 2 big plays and a pivotal key turnover on their 2 yard line.

But you say Nederland is our NS... That was a ridiculous statement. I think you're giving them too much credit especially when not too long ago, their chest banger was ONLY consecutive playoff appearances...
