It's easy to dehumanize these guys when discussing them through the lens of football only. Just a few weeks ago, the conversation was about ET potentially taking over for AL at BU and how that wouldn't be any good for the program. Today, the conversation is about mourning his death and remembering the lives he has touched during his career. It just hits kind of hard when you think about it in those terms.

See thats the problem, 23 days 37 hours 22 minutes is when  it starts. If u wait 25 more days to start then ur season will already be over.

although i I didn’t like the coaching, off the field he was one of the best ppl you’d ever meet, sorry to hear this for his wife and kids 

Hate to hear this. He was a player at Ozen when I kept stats for them. Always gave me a big hug anytime I saw him.

This hits deep. He was also in coach Foreman's 1st staff at Central when i played. He was a great Oline coach and just and even better Man overall. This is a huge loss

At least 3 of the former Central coaches listed above will not be coaching with United this coming season and a 4th has accepted an assistant principal position on the campus.  
If the O-line can give QB Vaughn decent protection, he along with RB Wilson will lead this years offense in scoring more than 18 points a game.  The biggest difference will be not as many 3 and outs simply because this QB will pick up a few yards with his feet when nothing else is there.  Wilson should have been the starter from the get go last year.  There are plenty of targets for Vaughn to throw to.
With 7 starters returning on defense and plenty of other kids with significant playing time, they won't give up 32 points a game.  The defenses biggest benefit will be from the offense not having so many 3 and outs as last years unit.  
Last years team was better than 2-8 and I do think this years team will will get more than 2 wins.  
 

33 Days until the 1st practice for most teams...

Check their feeder middle schools... NSMS and Cunningham.... their feeder program is awesome...both of them rarely lose games until they play each other with  Cunningham winning most of the time  ... no recruiting at least not at the high school area   ... now what it does seem and look like is the middle schools have Pee wee all star teams  ..: for instance during the WB game they say the gp athletic department  let the little leaguers in the area and their parents get in the game free  ... they do get transfers here and there ... but it mostly goes the other way with kids wanting to leaving and go to other schools... a couple of those good players on ce king last year came from north shore .. one was north shore’s starting running back at north shore before Zach became the starter... another thing that keeps them good is the refusal to build another high and middle school. They have one 6th grade campus and in the past has had three separate high school campuses.. Enrollment is almost at 5k... 

I'm quite sure there are a stable full of Mustangs on Castlegory Dr. waiting on their shot to step up when those two are gone.

To me it’s not about which one they choose, but to have your lower level teams running a completely different offense just doesn’t make sense.

Yea they split with Strake last year but I think they beat them this year.  In Beaumont and Brooks side will be packed...

I've got to support my son, nephews and their friends so I will be obviously following United as they travel to St. Pius.

Let me help you out.  I'm waiting on WOSGrad preview to come out Friday about United to verify this but from what I know, the majority of the coaches that were at Central in 2017 that came over to United in 2018, won't be back in 2019.  They were "inherited" instead of merged with the Ozen staff, if you know what I mean.  I also keep getting calls/text from people close to AL that says he will step down prior to the season starting, which will force the keys to be handed over to ET.  
Some will call me a "homer" for this statement and that's fine but the talent/potential is there to beat every team on the schedule except the two that went to state last year.  But just as last year it's the coaching staff and division amongst it that causes me concern...

It works awesome if you have good clock management and a decent defense.  
It also helps if your district opponents only see it when they play you.  Between BC, Lum and possibly LiCk'eM running some form of it, there's not gonna be a lot of novelty in running it later in District play.  The flip side is that your defense will suffer when facing a passing attack because the only time that they defend a decent passing attack is on Friday nights.  Some of that can be made up with sheer athleticism in the secondary, but I don't think Lum has those kind of horses in the stable.  
We had a lot of success under Dubois with a decent group of kids using the slot T.  We beat talented teams like Silsbee and Center and bigger schools like Huffman, LiCk'eM, etc... It's a great equalizer against bigger/more talented kids if utilized correctly.  I think a slot T with a mixed in passing attack like Pleasant Grove ran against a much better WOS team in '17 could hurt a lot of feelings.  I know we hurt our fair share without (sorry Tiger fans) a passing threat.  
If I'm not mistaken, Babin was a Slot T guy before he took the job in Lumberton.  Getting the system installed and utilized correctly is another huge key.  The other thing is that you MUST have disciplined fat kids if you want to succeed.  You're not gonna be very successful with a 175 lb center, no offense.  
 

It's fun to run the "T" when nobody else gets a good look at it.  It's not very fun when you're having a "who runs the "T" better contest."

As long as either Deer Park or Channelview get in along with North Shore of course, Brook has it made.  If a combination like say NS, WB, United and CE King get in, then Brook will go D1.
