This says it all -- I think this is the best answer to the thread's initial question. A school whose leaders build failure into the coaching system by forcing the coach to hire people based on personal politics can hardly complain about a football team that fails. I'm guessing Westbrook doesn't do this kind of stuff. Change this one thing at United and all of the other things we've been talking about don't matter near as much. Get even a mildly decent coach and get out of his way, and Beaumont would have TWO solid teams. 

A lot of us former Jaguars were not happy about the season.  Central wasn't any world beaters but the teams always got out there and competed.  Some people are use to 2-8 seasons...
Todd Peterman was a top notch coach that applied but he didn't go to Antioch or Ozen with the current Superintendent.  He actually came down an interviewed, wanted the job but she wouldn't let him bring his OC and DC.  He would have had to use all the coaches already at the school.

Yes if the work they can be , but but but most of this work has to be done at home. And at college camps outside . I have seen none at any of the local camps . The parents  play a huge role in this process. Money must be spent and time given to be successful

When he took over the program their it was in really bad shape and the base of his team the first 2 years were freshman and soph. He had done alot of good over there and is on his way to being a top tier HC one day once he gets some talent around him.

Gotcha ya .  read some of it....a few posters ain’t got a clue about teaching or coaching or how salaries work. I’m not gonna even entertain that subject which I know first hand.
Back to the “impatience”  
i was just referring to it cause it’s west Hardin.   Has west Hardin been a powerhouse in the past?  Playoffs?  If not “impatience” doesn’t really fit to get rid of a guy especially if he s an alum and as long as he has good character.  It s west Hardin... you ain’t getting a top tier coach.
 

Ha ha.  Me and him use to be assistants at Legacy years ago before I changed professions.  Good young fiery guy and will make the most of what he has to work with.  West Hardin is where he graduated from and he started to show progress in that 3rd year but I guess the people there were too impatient...

I don't know which one it is but the one on last years JV team ripped us a new one...

I heard from a reliable source that Anderson will see some time at QB AND Yoeman isn't a lock for the QB job.  Heard there is a hotshot underclassmen that will give him a hard push.

Talking about recently,  like within the last 20 years...  all new coaches that come through, seems like out of all the applicants that are white, they end up with heavy consideration for West Brook and not then, Ozen or Central.  

Not sure how I feel about that.  I like the fact that the move to 11 man indicates that there is increased enthusiasm, if not enrollment, has increased down in High Island.
It is just that I remember the last few years that High Island was in 11 man with Coach Jones, they were playing essentially playing iron man football at every position.  Any injuries could lead to forfeitures which is already a problem in District 12-2A-II, which is purportedly the district that they would be aligned to.
Sabine Pass has cancelled their district schedule, Burkeville, which has a 6man eligible enrollment, will probably have a similar problem unless Coach Williams can work some magic.
Good luck to them none the less.

The final set of questionnaires have been sent out and the coaches' responses are already rolling in!
I have determined the final schedule of the previews but will do so in the next couple of days.
