I think the problems go much deeper than the coach.  Sterling is a good coach but is young and learning to do things as head coach at the varsity level.  The biggest problem is a total lack of off season work.  Kids dont get better during the season, they get better during the off season.  Until the basketball program works as hard as the football and baseball players in the off season, you will see the same results as what we are seeing now.  Nothing takes the place of hard work.  Nothing.

They played each other in a scrimmage but that doesnt count for anything.  I would bet that both teams added players once football was over with.  I know Vidor added 4 players since the scrimmage.

I know that the scrimmage got called early because of some pushing and shoving going on during the game.  Vidor has a couple of players that came in from football that are pretty tough on defense, too.  Kelly is a good team so it will tell the Pirates where they are right now early in the season.  I think Kelly would be a middle of the district team if they were in 20-4A so it ought to be interesting to see who comes out ahead and by how much.

It was a good thread until some folks decided to step in and start trash talkin Vidor.  And from a team we whipped in the playoffs last year, if Im not mistaken. 

Too bad the Pirates are turning it over.  SC scored on all 3 of the Pirate fumbles.

SC needs to seriously consider getting rid of the color guy...he cant even tell what offense the Pirates are running.  He keeps calling it the option.
