That's why there is a big school playoffs and a little school. Do you think that PNG can play with Lake Travis / Aledo ?
never said i did and i never said png was going very far but the way yall make it sound memorial is already state champs and by the way do your research it is possible for yall to meet up with katy
I don't know who this "y'all" you refer to. I am probably PAM's biggest critic from a coaching and schematic standpoint. Toned down my criticism this year because I have friends with kids playing
Very honorable, I applaud this post.

I would venture to say that if more kids would have a job at a young age. This world would be in better shape instead of being spoiled and lazy. You don't see many kids from the 70's or 80's still mooching off their parents or their parents raising their kids. I would say yes we need a time machine to bring back morals and respectablity to this country.
::) Yes lets all go back to the 60s and 70s when we had "morals". When we had a president killed, draft dodgers galore, "peace" activist who blew up things, hippies running wild, watergate, a gas shortage, a president who couldn't save some hostages in iran, and smasmouth football. ahh the good old days.
::) Well first off I graduated in 1980 and today is any better? 14 million out of work, Half the population does not pay taxes, More people on welfare than ever, Young people don't get married so the government can pay for the baby to be born plus food stamps, diapers, formula, cheese, should I go on. Atleast some of us were reponsible for our own actions. Yes, they was the good ole days when kids played outside, neighborhood football, basketball and baseball games. We was not in the AC playing X-Box eating twinkie's or ding dongs while drinking a coke or should I say entergy drink.
Im not saying one is better than the other, I'm saying every generation has its problems. When you were growing up the older generation talked about how lazy you were and how you had no morals or direction too. Not everybody today is lazy and irresponsible, but if you have a problem with this generation maybe you should blame your generation for not raising them the right way. BTW LT spread offence 4 consecutive state championships(who else has done that recently?), slc 3 straight state championships, Oregon spread offence and almost lead the country in rushing, Nevada runs the pistol(similar to the spread) and leads the country in rushing almost every year. You keep saying you have to be balenced, but you can be alot more balenced in the spread than in the wing t or slot t. Spread isn't a gimick the only reason you don't see it that often in the nfl is because the hash marks are not as wide as they are in college or high school.
I agree with the first statement, did not mean to categorize all young people of today. I think coaches should run an offense that best fits their personel on the field. I will say this, I am not a big fan of zone blocking. It is kind of like a zone defense in basketball it tends to make you lazy. -

Liberty Hill won state in 2006 / 07 using the Slot T. Spread offenses can be dealt with if you have some speed on defence.....I love the Slot T because noone knows where your big bruising fullback is going until he pops up under you facemask.
I love the slot-t because when it is executed correctly it gives defenses fits. Vidor runs it pretty good but not perfectly, if you ever get a chance to watch a team that runs it to perfection it is magic.
Bridge City ran it to perfection under Les Johnson. -
The spread offense is a joke to me. I am probably in the minority in this way of thinking. I believe you should be balance on offense. You should be able to run the ball and be able to get the ball downfield in the pass game. However, the game is won in the trenches. When my offensive tackle is in a two point stance for the majority of the game and my offensive line spends majority of the time on it's heel pass blocking that's when I have problem. It's 3rd and 2 and you have four wide receivers on the field and you pass the ball. That is a problem. When you have a lead and you are trying to run the clock and you are still passing the rock because you cannot run it. That is a problem. Football is meant to be a physical that is why you have pads and a helmet on. The spread is a gimmick like the run and shoot. When it meets a good defense it will always fail. Katy beat the heck out of North Shore's spread offense which includes speed and plenty of talent. Another example is how LSU broke out their belt and beat Oregon back to the West Coast.
You are correct JT. My youngest brother played for Lamargue in 1986. He was QB and they ran the run and shoot. Hugh Massey was their coach. Lamarque was 5A back then. To make a long story short, Lamarque played Plano in the state championship game. The run and shoot got shot, Plano motored up and down the field like a well oiled machine with a mixture of run and pass but mostly run. -

This can't be the same team I saw in Woodville at the end of last year. They were explosive and could score on one play from anywhere on the field. Give us some insight. Good win for the Bobcats though.
I was at the game and woodville had some good looking kids. They just did not play with much emotion. They would drive the ball then the Orangefield "D" would shut them down. They would have first and 2 then all of a sudden it was 3rd and long. They just never got anything going. I can't explain it. I will say this, the Orangefield kids did not dominate but they stayed the course, played hard and that is why they won. -

The great coaches will mold the offense around the talent he has on the field. You don't just wake up one morning and say I think I will run the spread. I have no problem with the spread if you have the personnel to run it. Some coaches insist on running it when they don't have the athlete's. As far as conditioning goes, depends on the coach, back when I was in school precautions were not taken like they are now because of the heat. During two a days it was full pads both sessions everyday. During the regular season it full pads till wednesday and shorts and shoulder pads on thursday. We did not have entergy drinks back then either. Because of all the deaths coaches cannot coach like they did 30 years ago. So in reality my gripe is not with the offense but with the coaches who insist on running it when they should not. No doubt the weight conditioning is better today. A lot of us did weight conditioning on our spare time because most of us had jobs during the summer. -
And what city are you referring to Coug21, I noticed you laid out 5 spaces for 5 letters, you talking about Vidor, If you are scared to name the city you had in mind just say your scared and be done with it. As for this sign that was displayed it was not necessary, and kinda stupid but was it racist I don't know what was in the hearts of the punks that displayed it so I can't say for sure. I will tell you one thing that does offend me, the city of Vidor has come along way in race relations and a lot of that credit go's to sports and the interaction that young men and women of Vidor have had with all races of young people in competitive sports. I for one am heart sick that some small minded folks wont let the good people of Vidor live down the past....we are not the same town of 20 or 30 yrs. ago. I would stand side by side with my black brothers against real racism but some of the so called racism that offends people today most of the strong black men and women I know would laugh at it on go on. I know this was a rant....but I fell strongly about this subject.
Great post VPirate, I could not agree more. Things are blown way out proportion these days. I use the term "Bro" all the time. It means brother to me. This is no different than a 19 year old boy having sex with a 16 year old girl and then he makes her mad so she hollers rape and he is now a sex offender and has no future and she gets pregnant right after that because basically she could not keep her legs closed but that is OK. The messed up society we live in. Some just looking for that easy way out. Pretty much sums up the state of America. When they took prayer and paddling away from the schools and parents morals went out the window. Without morals this country will destroy itself. Will not happen in my time but it is coming and soon. This started way before Obama became president. He is not the blame and not for the deficit either. -
