That could be true. I honestly just wanted to know what happened. I also don't agree with saying the Jasper athletic program is better just because the football team had a good season and went one round further than those other teams the last 10 years. That doesn't necessarily equate to things being better overall. IMO

The question was about the other sports at Jasper. Nobody is questioning Crum and what he is doing with football and recruiting. The question is why is the other 5 sports (volleyball, boys/girls basketball, baseball and softball) all of sudden gone to crap? Those sports were not this bad as a whole in the last several years. What has happened?

He thinks he is the only smart person on this site. Or at least the only one that knows better. All because he is an assistant football coach at a local school. He knows all.

Thought the discussion was playing high school sports, not next level. My comment was about high school 2 sport stars which you said doesn't exist anymore. I disagree.

I can name several 2 sport stars just this past season. All with scholarship offers in both sports. Now one may be a bigger star in one sport over the other but they still remain stars in both sports. 2 sports stars still exist.

On a walk off. 1-0 Silsbee the only team in the district to win a playoff game/series in football, basketball and baseball.

But according to some (one), that's not important in the grand scheme of the overall athletic program. Just ask @89Falcon

Game was canceled last night. Game 1 is at WO-S tonight. 7pm Game 2 and 3 will be at Anahuac tomorrow. Game 2 is at 5pm and Game 3 if necessary will be 30 minutes after Game 2.

I know a few local ISD's that have had the same AD for several years now and their football team is not the best sport in their school. Some would say they are less than mediocre.

The thread question is about their overall athletic program. Not just football. If? You talk as they will. Things are so much better.

So if Jasper fails to make it to Regional finals next year, then things are not better? Saying things are better because of one football season (when the discussion is about the overall athletic program) is pretty narrow minded. But, coming from you, I completely understand.

It's the only option they have if they want to implement it starting next school year. Otherwise, they would have to redo the basketball/baseball/softball districts. That would be very problematic since a lot of coaches have already started on next year's schedule. My sources tell me it will be like how 6A does football. Maybe next realignment will have the districts done by division.

I was just told about this yesterday. It will be after regular season ends then split for playoffs so this will not effect the realignment. My earlier comments were about having district realigned for divisions. That will have to come later. State basketball tournament will now be state championship games only. No semifinals. Friday and Saturday (6 games each day). Semifinals will be held at wherever the venues the two coaches agree upon. Also, no more regional tourneys. Personally, I don't like this change if it does happen.

I wasn't arguing the point of how an AD keeps his job. The question was "what has happened to Jasper" as in their whole athletic department. They were much much better in those other sports even when football was successful. Not anymore. Something definitely has changed.

About the same as they have always been the last several years. They are good. I wouldn't say they are better or worse though.

One win each in baseball and softball. I would say that things overall are not better than the last several years. Particularly in basketball and baseball.

In football, yes. In the other sports, no.

Not happening any time soon. Just being discussed. It's a questionnaire phase right now sent to Supts. and AD's.
