  1. It's pretty simple. The winner next week out of Ned and Vidor will all but assure the final playoff spot. The loser is all but out. With Lumberton, Central, and Livingston with just 1 loss each, they have the inside track for the top three spots. All three can actually afford to lose 1 out of the last 2 and still get in the playoffs.
  2. Hawks have not clinched anything just yet. There is a scenario that could leave them out. The only way would be if Silsbee loses to HF!!!!! I will be pulling for the Tigers in that one. There are 6 teams. They beat 3 of them and the worst their record will be will be 3-2 and HF, OF and BC will not have a better record than that and HJ will have the head to head on all 3 of them. Besides once HJ beats Silsbee it will be irrelevant!!!! ;D ;D ;D In the case of a three way tie, it would then go to points. Right now HJ is a +9 and HF is a -9. If HF beats Silsbee by 10 and Silsbee beats HJ by 10 or more, that would leave HJ out of the playoffs with a -1 or more point total. HF and Silsbee would advance with their respective +1 and even or better point total. I only brought this up just to show that nothing has been clinched. I believe Silsbee will win out and HJ will go as the third place team.

  4. 42 yard td run by Johnson 1:10 left in 2nd Silsbee 26 Orangefield 7
  5. 7:58 left in 2nd Silsbee 19 Orangefield 0 Johnson 2 rushing td's 1 passing
  6. Don't know about HJ but Silsbee lost 2 starters and 1 key player off the bench. The biggest loss would be D.K. Howard, who avg. about 17 points a game. I do know that Silsbee has more varsity players back than what HJ has coming back.
  7. I'll retract my post for the offensive winner if Dayton is considered in the Willie Ray Smith award area. Dayton QB Cody Green has the best offensive numbers so far this season. 111-171 65% 1,400yds 15 td's passing 62-500 yds 12 td's rushing 1,900 yds total offense and 27 td's
  8. I will say Michael of West Brook for offense but Johnson of Silsbee leads the area in total offense. On defense, very wide open. Josh James, strong safety for Silsbee is having a terrific year.
  9. I remember back in the early '80's that Dimmitt High School had a player named Rocky Rawls who was their best player and leading scorer. Everytime he scored, Phil would come across the PA with "RRRRRRRRRRRRocky RRRRRRawls!!". Classic!
  10. Hey Joey, Kerry had already beat you to the punch. There is already a thread with this article in it.
  11. I'll be going to Tiger Stadium in Silsbee X2. Broadcasting the Orangefield-Silsbee game tonight and the Anahuac-Kountze game tomorrow.
  12. The Orangefield Bobcats come to Tiger Stadium Friday night to take on the Silsbee Tigers in district 21-3A play. This is Silsbee's homecoming and there should be alot of excitement as Orangefield looks to rain on the Tiger's parade. Pregame will start at 7pm with kickoff at 7:30. Listen to the voices of Silsbee football as play-by-play man Mike Sanchez and color commentator Wayne Brasher bring you all the action of this 21-3A game.
  13. To answer your question about them being in the same division, the answer is yes. If both make the playoffs, both will go Div.2. Now, if they play the first round will depend on how each finishes in their districts and what schools out of their districts go Div.1.
  14. I have been going to the state tourney since 1972, I haven't missed a year since. Working on 38 straight years. The one person that I will always attach my memories of the tourney other than my dad who himself has made 50 straight tourneys, is Phil. He was what we always called him, "the man at the mic". The last few years he hasn't been doing as many games as he had been. His introductions of each team at the beginning of the games were priceless. You are so right, he will be terribly missed.
  15. Liberty Hill is in Region 2 this year, I was only speaking of Region 3.
  16. WOS will most likely be D2. Only way WOS goes D1 if Silsbee doesn't make the playoffs. Actually Bridge City has a higher enrollment than WOS but it doesn't look like they will make the playoffs. If you are talking about just region 3, then I would say in D1 it would be Navasota, D2 would be Gilmer.
  17. The Anahuac-Kountze game at Silsbee's Tiger Stadium will be broadcast live here on Saturday. Pre game will be at 3:45pm with kickoff at 4pm. Silsbee Tiger broadcast team of Mike Sanchez and Wayne Brasher will bring the play-by-play and color analysist. Listen in to another great Setxsports broadcast of this 23-2A battle.
