  1. The best and most exciting game that I have ever seen was the first year I attended the state tourney. It was the 1972 4A (which is now 5A) semi-final between Dallas Roosevelt and Houston Wheatley. Roosevelt defeated Wheatley 111-109 in regulation before a standing room only crowd there in Gregory Gym. I remember there were actually people that had crawled up on the roof of the gym to watch the game through the windows that were at the top. Incredible!!!! Favorite game I ever saw was the 1976 regional final between Silsbee and Rockdale. Silsbee trailed by 20 at halftime but made a huge comeback in the second half and got a steal by Artie Shankle with 6 seconds left and he made the layup as time expired to win it for Silsbee and send them to Austin.

  3. Raynisha Washington scored 42 points last night for the Lady Tigers! WOW!!!!!!
  4. In regards to Vidor's and WOS's enrollment, Vidor turned in 1465 and WOS 690 for this year's realignment. So it's safe to say that Vidor has twice the enrollment as WOS and almost 4 times that of Kirbyville.
  5. I two teams tie for the second place spot after splitting their two games against each other, you have two options. You can play it off for the second seed or you can flip for the second seed. The loser will gain the third spot.
  6. Tiger baseball will hold it's own. They may not even play each other, but Silsbee is playing in the Jasper tourney. But we digress. Typical of a beaten opponent to change the subject. ;D
  7. Silsbee called the "Dawgs" off this year. ;D
  8. It's just for a few Jasper fans. They know who they are. ;) ;D I actually congratulated Bailey and Spikes on their play and the win when they came down to watch the Jasper/Silsbee game this year. I even had my picture made with those two by a Jasper fan. ;D BTW, Silsbee won that game this year by 40. ;D
  9. I guess if you only have two wins in the history between the two, you have to hang your hat on one of them. ;) ::) It's kind of hard to respect a team that has a .0204 winning percentage against you. ;D It was a very good win for the Dawgs, but as expected, they have digressed back to their mediocrity.
  10. I'll take Silsbee's record of 96-2 over Jasper any day. ;)
  11. It really doesn't matter now. ;D
  12. updated thru 7 games, Feb. 5th
  13. Still no score from Jasper? The way those guys were talking last year, you would have thought they had this up and coming basketball program on the rise. A year later, you can't even get a score from out of there.  ::) Dawgs struggling to make the playoffs out of a very down 18-3A. Yep, 1 hit wonder. ;)
  14. With the win, the Lady Tigers have clinched the 3rd spot in district and are well on their way to the playoffs. Whoda thunk it??? Congrats Lady Tigers and Coach Sanders!!!
  15. Silsbee was able to play all 11 players in this game with the second five getting lot's of playing time tonight. The first quarter was a bit slow as both teams weren't shooting the ball very well, Silsbee missing several chances inside after getting some offensive rebounds. The Tigers finally scored the final 5 points of the quarter to lead by 7, 16-9. In the second quarter the Tiger defense took over. Silsbee forced BC into committing 12 turnovers in the quarter resulting in Silsbee opening the second on a 14-0 run to take a 30-9 lead. The Cardinals finally got on the board in the 2nd quarter at the 1:40 mark and the half ended with the Tigers leading 34-11. Silsbee was led by Lane's 13 first half points. The second half was just a continuance of the 2nd quarter as the Tiger defense continued to cause turnovers and getting some easy buckets off the break. Silsbee extended their lead to 50-15, then traded baskets with BC, ending the 3rd up 56-21. Bridge City continued to turn the ball over and also stayed cold from the 3 point line. It wasn't until McAnnelly hit 2 three's in row to break a 1 for 13 streak from three point land. Silsbee's subs closed out the game, winning 85-36. Silsbee again dominated the boards out rebounding BC 49-33 led by Jones' 13 rebounds. Silsbee also collected 9 block shots with Thomas getting 4 to run his season total to 156, just 6 shy of the school record. Both teams shot terrible from the 3 point line. Not too many fouls were called tonight as the Cards only went to the line 6 times tonight. The biggest difference was in the turnover column as BC committed 34 turnovers to the Tigers 14. Several of those Cardinal turnovers led to easy Tiger points. Prentice Lane was the man tonight scoring 23, attacking the basket with great skill. Kendrick Jones had another great night as he scored 15 and collected a game high 13 rebounds. Jones has grabbed 45 rebounds in the last 3 games. The twin towers also threw down 5 dunks tonight as Jones got a couple of alley's to cap his night off. Silsbee runs their current win streak to 16 games and improves to 7-0 in district. Solid win tonight for the Tigers.
