  3. It will pass eventually! No it won't. The costs of travel will be too much. Just another stupid idea that the UIL has come up with no regard to the schools budgets. If the UIL wants an even playing field, then let them counter the travel costs with a state travel fund for poor school districts. I bet that will go over real good with the UIL. : Never say never. Dr. Charles B told me that is was 60/40 last time and will be even closer this time. Funny, when I spoke to him in Austin at the basketball tourney, he didn't seem all that confident about it.

  5. Of course the coaches would want this, evens the playing field, maybe. : But the fact is, the coaches don't set the school district's budget. I am sure you have some coaches out there who don't mind spending the money while taking away from something else. The ole " robbing Peter to pay Paul " bit. I am sure there are many sensible coaches who are against this plan too.
  6. This is all a joke. School districts with low budgets will not go for more travel with the prices of gas and diesel are now. The UIL believing that getting schools to compete against similiar enrollment schools while making some go broke is the right thing to do just shows where the mindset is. They could care less how much it will cost a school district to carry out there plan. This is so lame.
  7. I would have to agree. But if we were to put odds on the area teams, I would say that Kirbyville would have the best odds.
  8. That started in September. ;D Actually, she is teaching summer school this year. She hasn't done that in about 12 years. It was an offer she couldn't refuse. I am pretty sure it's a one year deal with her.
  9. Your posts in the " I'm bored " thread are dead on. I couldn't agree with you more. My wife is a school teacher, 18 years worth, and she read your posts and made the comment that she would bet that you guys work in the education business. I told her I knew that Dicky was, but wasn't sure about Nos and Short. She was proud to read your comments. Great posts guys, keep it up.
  10. No argueing the picks here. The coaches did a great job with the selections. The MVP is the right choice, his combined pitching and hitting numbers are what seperates him from the others. Good job coaches.
  11. The part where you are going to help fund the move to FBS. Really, it's pretty simple, even you should understand. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GO FBS RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! It will take some time like coachacola has said. GET IT.
  12. The voice of reason. Pay attention UNLV, coachacola knows best.
  13. I don't think anyone has "come up" with anything here. This seems to be fact as he has admitted to it, just doesn't admit to having sex with her. 10 years and nothing happens, c'mon. :
  14. Don't you get it, Abtr? UNLV demands champagne when he's been offered free beer.
  15. You think Roc hasn't signed a big guy because he's passive and timid? You think Lamar is turning away all the 3 and 4 star players because they don't want to be big time? We all want Lamar to succeed and make it big but you're really being unrealistic these days. I was referring to Roc at all. I don't know what Roc is doing. But lets not talk about being unrealistic. Just because you limit yourself and put up all these dumb false road blocks for yourself and Lamar is a problem on you, not being unrealistic. Here let me give you an example of what I am talking about. "This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us." -- Western Union internal memo,1876. "Computers in the future may weigh no more than 1.5 tons." -- Popular Mechanics, forecasting the relentless march of . ... science, 1949 "Who the heck wants to hear actors talk?" -- H.M. Warner, Warner Brothers, 1927. "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers." -- Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943 "Airplanes are interesting toys but of no military value." -- Marechal Ferdinand Foch, Professor of Strategy, Ecole . ... Superieure deGuerre. "There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home." -- Ken Olson, president, chairman and founder of Digital. .... Equipment Corp., 1977 "The wireless music box has no imaginable commercial value. Who would pay for a message sent to nobody in particular?" -- David Sarnoff's associates in response to his urgings for investment in the radio in the 1920s. "Who in their right mind would ever need more than 640k of ram!?" -- Bill Gates, 1981 "I have traveled the length and breadth of this country and talked with the best people, and I can assure you that data processing is a fad that won't last out the year." -- Editor in charge of business books for Prentice Hall, 1957 "But what ... is it good for?" -- Engineer at the Advanced Computing Systems Division of IBM, ... 1968, commenting on the microchip. "The concept is interesting and well-formed, but in order to earn better than a 'C,' the idea must be feasible." -- A Yale University management professor in response to Fred Smith's paper proposing reliable overnight delivery service. (Smith went on to found Federal Express Corp.) "I'm just glad it'll be Clark Gable who's falling on his face and not Gary Cooper." -- Gary Cooper, on his decision not to accept the leading role in "Gone With The Wind." "Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible." --Lord Kelvin, president, Royal Society, 1895. "If I had thought about it, I wouldn't have done the experiment. The literature was full of examples that said you can't do this." -- Spencer Silver on the work that led to the unique adhesives for3-M "Post-It" Notepads. "So we went to Atari and said, 'Hey, we've got this amazing thing, even built with some of your parts, and what do you think about funding us? Or we'll give it to you. We just want to do it. Pay our salary, we'll come work for you.' And they said, 'No.' So then we went to Hewlett-Packard, and they said, 'Hey, we don't need you. You haven't got through college yet.'" -- Apple Computer Inc. founder Steve Jobs on attempts to get Atari and H-P interested in his and Steve Wozniak's personal computer. "Professor Goddard does not know the relation between action and reaction and the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react. He seems to lack the basic knowledge ladled out daily in high schools." -- 1921 New York Times editorial about Robert Goddard's revolutionary rocket work. "Drill for oil? You mean drill into the ground to try and find oil? You're crazy." -- Drillers whom Edwin L. Drake tried to enlist to his project to drill for oil in 1859. "Stocks have reached what looks like a permanently high plateau." --Irving Fisher, Professor of Economics, Yale University, 1929. "Everything that can be invented has been invented." -- Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, U.S. Office of Patents, 1899. "Louis Pasteur's theory of germs is ridiculous fiction". -- Pierre Pachet, Professor of Physiology at Toulouse, 1872 "The abdomen, the chest, and the brain will forever be shut from the intrusion of the wise and humane surgeon". -- Sir John Eric Ericksen, British surgeon, appointed Surgeon Extraordinary to Queen Victoria 1873. "We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out." -- Decca Recording Co., when rejecting the Beatles, 1962. A little redundant, don't you think? Again, what's your point? Wait, I answered it myself, nevermind.
  16. So, what's your point? Oh, I know, you get what you pay for. Only thing is, your not paying for it.
  17. You think Roc hasn't signed a big guy because he's passive and timid? You think Lamar is turning away all the 3 and 4 star players because they don't want to be big time? We all want Lamar to succeed and make it big but you're really being unrealistic these days. That's nailing it.
  18. I have a question for UNLV. For all the complaining you do about Lamar not meeting "your" standards as to how they should start up their football program, my question to you would be how many millions have you donated to the cause? You expect them to have a Rolls Royce when they can only afford a Camry. You seem the type to complain about a free meal.
  19. You took the words right out my mouth, Dicky.
  20. Donovan Harris, the defending class 3A state champion in the 110 meter hurdles, will be going back to defend his title after winning the 3A Region III meet handily. Donovan also added a regional championship in the high jump, jumping '6"6. He will be joined by two Lady Tiger tracksters as Chasity Foster won the triple jump with a leap of '39 "8, which is a top 10 national mark for the year. Along with her will be Patricia Johnson as she placed second in the girls 100 meter dash. Congrats to these Tiger tracksters and good luck at state. Let's bring home 4 gold medals!!
  21. No sweep here, but that might be the only good thing here. BTW,Stephen A. Smith a joke. We know what the A. stands for.
