  1. Jeremy Johnson is the real deal. Barring injury, by his senior year, which is still 2 years away, he will be a top 10 state recruit and a top 50 national recruit. He is a very special player.
  2. If the BISD schools did not see this coming, then they are blind as bats!!! Of course Lamar was going to stop letting high schools play at Cardinal Stadium, how else would they be able to do all the renovations to the stadium for when Lamar football starts up. Did you actually think they would work around this coming high school football season? That would put them behind 3 to 4 months for this year and possible for next year too. Lamar is trying to get football back at the most efficient way they can. They do not have the luxury of letting football be played there while they are in construction mode. Bottom line is, Ozen needs to get their own stadium, all the other BISD schools do. Now after Lamar gets the stadium back in shape and starts football back, if they don't allow high schools to play playoff games there, that would be a shame. But I would agree with not letting someone have all their home games there. but think about it aggie it was nice having the beaumont bowl at a pretty much nuetral site instead of someone having all the field advantage at their own field How do you figure that to be a nuetral site? Ozen played all their home games there, Brook and Central only played there twice and Central had to play Ozen there for a district game regardless of who was home or away. Not so nuetral to me. If and when BISD builds their new stadium( the key word being IF ) then the Bruins, Jags, and Panthers can have their nice liitle play pen without having to borrow from Lamar.

  4. Our Setxsports.com GOW takes me to the Big L Town, Lumberton Tx., home of the L-Train!!!, where the playoff contender Vidor Pirates come to town to take on the Raiders in 22-4A baseball action. Vidor is trying to keep pace with LCM and PNG for that coveted district title but just as important, a spot in the playoffs. Lumberton would like nothing more than to ruin the Pirates plan and get on a winning streak themselves. Broadcast time will be 6:50 with the first pitch at 7:05. Listen here on the site, LIVE!!!, for all the pitch by pitch. Should be a dandy!! Mike Sanchez, Setxsports.com Broadcaster
  5. name the top 10 people in the NBA and tell many how many are bigs and how many are guards. Name me one Championship team on any leve (high school through the pros) that has one a championship without great guards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Closest one is the Robinson/Duncan Spurs or maybe Chamberlan of the 70s! I'll name one. Shaquille O'Neal's 3A state champion San Antonio Cole team. Their guards where good, but they were far from being great.
  6. It will be football most likely. He is listed as a Dave Camble top 100 state recruit.
  7. I am working on that. I do try and cover as much area and classifications as possible during the season. Got any suggestions?
  8. Tonight's the night, ready to broadcast. I do have a question that I need you Longhorn fans to help me out with. Do I need any skeeter spray?
  9. Word is that Lamar University will make an announcement today at noon regarding the hiring of the new head football coach. ABTR, can you verify this?
  10. Just wanted to jump in on this real quick, even though this thread is about Marsh from Hardin. 'Dickie V', your statement about says there is no way a 6'2 class 2A post player is going to be chosen for the Gamble team. Question, at 1-inch taller, you have Devin Brey from Kountze(2A); plays in the post; are you saying that as a Junior/Senior in the years to come, he has NO chance to make the "Gamble" team? Carry on.... People!!!! I keep repeating here! You gotta get out of Southeast Texas and see the other side of the Mississippi River. I just got back from an All-Southern Elite AAU Tournament and major teams from Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, TN, etc were playing 17u, 16u, 15u, etc. 6'2"???????????? Please! The average post size was 6'8". I repeat..average size.............. What is the meaning of this post? I am quite sure most people would know if you take the ELITE players from mutiple states and not just an area the size of Southeast Texas, you're going to get that type of size. I don't think anyone is debating that here. Just what is your point?
  11. Well, I believe it's safe to say, that Denis does not like Bob. But I will say, Denis does make some valid points. ( man that was hard for me to say ) ;D
  12. I'll be in Hamshire, Texas tomorrow night bringing this week's Setxsports.com GOW broadcast. The battle of the hyphenate should be a good one as the Hawks try to remain in that hunt for that third playoff spot while the Longhorns look to play spoiler. These two played a great one last time around and no reason we shouldn't get another one this time. Broadcast time will be at 6:50 with first pitch at 7. C'mon down to the rice fields and catch some 21-3A baseball action. Bring some boiled crawfish with you. ;D Otherwise, just sit there at home or work and catch all the action, LIVE, here on Setxsports.com!!!!! Mike Sanchez, Setxsports.com Broadcaster
  13. Yeah Gulley was under-cut by one of the Yates players that was actually an alternate for this game. It looked as if he were going for the Jam!! It was unfortunate but I figured something was broke... The Houston team was BIG, REAL BIG... That won the game for them... They just pounded it inside and got alot of rebounds and put backs... It reminded me of the Texas Stanford Game... Great gaurds of the Gamble team vs. the Bigs of the Houston Team. Breon was a wild man in transition, often going to the rack at will drawing fouls and making baskets. T. Thomas was a hand full all game... Gulley was tough than any 6'10" kid out there and he played really big... I haet his last AAU year is in the bag... It would have been great for exposure. Jacoby played big on D but was just a little slow on his release on his shots. Willie laid an egg because he rode the bench so much and Malbreaux played big. Lopez finished the game at the point.. Wish I would have seen hgim more throughout the game. His back-to-back turnovers in the third got him yanked quick but he hadn't seen much floor time.. He was a little rusty. But he finished the game hitting 5 big free throws at the end and running the point well. The little guard from silsbee was lights out!!!! We here in Silsbee think highly of him too. Shannon kind of reminds me of the little point guard that Lamar has now, Kenny Dawkins.
  14. I am predicting the Tigers to win district again. They just have too many athletes that place in several events. They definetly have more wider range of event success than all the other schools in the district have. Plus, the district meet is at Tiger Stadium, got to love the convience.
  15. I just wanted to say how great a job Coach Brooks did this year with the Silsbee basketball team. Coach Brooks had to step in about halfway through the season and take over the " head " coaching duties when Coach Travis Williams went down with an illness. Coach Williams was there every game and every practice but due to his condition, he was " benched " during game time. Coach Brooks did an outstanding job coaching the Tigers in district and the playoffs all the way to Austin. It was definetly a team effort both on the court and on the sideline. Coach Brooks you are to be commended for the job you did and it is greatly appreciated. Job well done.
  16. Silsbee Soph. QB Jeremy Johnson was one of only 15 junior to be football players to be invited to attend the University of Texas spring game. UT invited 50 senior to be players along with the 15 junior to be's to come and watch the game. It is my understanding that Jeremy was the only QB from the juniors to be invited. Looks as though some folks have already got their eye on this blue chipper.
  17. Silsbee won the meet with 144 points. WOS was second with 129. I will try and get all of the results posted sometime this week.
  18. Is that not what I said, 3rd year follows 1st year and 2nd year. Maybe someone needs to explain that to terror. Any news on UTSA coaching search? Actually UNLV, Terror is right on this one. You say we could be FBS in year 3, that is wrong. Our first year will be 2010 right? 2nd year 2011, third 2012. We aren't eligible for FBS till 2014, like coachacola said. I believe your fondness for big dreams clouds your logic. Let's keep it real, let's get the football program back first before we declare then national title contenders. ;D
