  1. Silsbee will handle Jasper like last time. The Tigers have always had the Bulldogs number when it comes to basketball. Silsbee 80 Jasper 67
  2. I guess it all depends on how you define " toughest district". Some would say a tough district would be how their 3 teams did in the state playoffs, if all 3 or 2 of 3 advanced deep into the playoffs. To me, that would be saying that district had 3 of the best teams in the region if not the state. Others would say a tough district would be where 4-5 teams are playoff caliber but only 3 go, leaving 2 teams behind who are more than worthy of a playoff spot. To me, that's what makes a tough district. Like 21-3A in football, you had 2 teams left out of the playoffs that if you put them in alot of other districts, they would advance. In 24-2A, you have EC, Hardin and Kountze, but after that, not much to brag about. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
  3. Well, we all know about Jasper and Newton. Jasper has plenty coming back and Newton lost a few key players but they reload, not rebuild. Lumberton will be hit hard by graduation but return a few good ones and their sub varsity teams continue to be better since Coach Creduer came on, they will be pretty good. Diboll is a hit and miss type team, they have pretty good athletes some years and then go through a dry spell others. I do like their coach though, Gary Martel. He is the older brother of HJ coach David Martel. I've known him for a long time. He married one of my classmates, Gary is a good one. As for Houston Davis, they will be like Houston Sterling, very fast but undisiplined. Like Coop said, they are not very good, Silsbee will win this one easily. We scheduled them in order to play on a turf field at one of the Houston ISD stadiums. We scheduled Sterling for that reason, but they wanted to come to Tiger Stadium both times, get the kids out of the inner city. Bobby took it getting that extra home game. You'll probably only see Davis on the schedule for just these two years.
  4. The Tigers are rolling. Since losing to Hardin-Jefferson the first time around, Silsbee has really stepped it up, winning 8 straight. They are argueably playing the best basketball in the district over the last 8 games. A look at their scores over the last 8: 90-53 Kirbyville +37 66-47 Jasper +19 48-46 Orangefield +2 102-53 BC +49 106-38 HF +68 67-37 WOS +30 71-69 HJ +2 110-50 Kirbyville +60 That's averaging 83 points a game and winning by an average margin of 33 points per game. The Tigers really look to be hitting their stride. Still have 2 tough games left, Jasper and Orangefield, both away games. I like their chances of finishing district with a 13-1 record.
  5. Silsbee's non district week 0 Houston Davis week 1 Diboll week 2 Lumberton week 3 Newton week 4 open week 5 Jasper The Silsbee-Jasper game could get moved to week 4 so the Tigers could have an open week before district play. Glad to see Silsbee keep the rival game with Jasper and also keep the Newton game. Very glad to have Lumberton back on the schedule, good rivalry, Village Creek Classic!!!!
  6. Silsbee Tiger 2008 Non-District week 0 Houston Davis week 1 Diboll week 2 Lumberton week 3 Newton week 4 open week 5 Jasper There is a possibility that Jasper and Silsbee will move their game to week 4, but that's how it stands now.
  7. Due to an illness in my family, I will not be able to do the broadcast of tonight's EC-Hardin game. I apologize for the inconvience. I will be back next week with 2 games of the week, Tues. and Friday. Stay tuned for details of what games they will be. Thanks for your patience and understanding, Mike Sanchez, Setxsports.com broadcaster
  8. baseball25, let me clue you in on a few things. There will be pressure in the EC-Hardin game, but not the kind of pressure a team will experience if their playoff hopes were riding on the outcome of that game. Both of these teams WILL be going to the playoffs. Some of these other games have scenarios were if a team were to lose, they would be out or would need some help to get into the playoffs. This would be more like a playoff game, one and done type pressure. EC and Hardin can lose this game and still be in. There will be pressure, but I am sorry to say not near as much as some of these other teams will be experiencing. Regarding not wanting to do some games or not having done some other games that you have mentioned, let me explain. The Hardin-Kountze game was done by another website, they got first dibs. I chose to do the Ozen-Nederland game that night which was a real good game, Nederland came close to pulling off the upset. Kountze ripped Hardin a new one that night, I think I had the better game. Plus I had not done an Ozen game and wanted to do one before the season was over. I broadcasted the Kountze-Hardin game when it was in Hardin, so I felt like spreading the wealth. As for the Kountze-EC game, I could not do that game that night because I was working( I have a regular job you know). We only did the HJ-Silsbee game that night, we are contracted to do all HJ games. I did do the first EC-Kountze game when Kountze won by 2 in Kountze. See another double dipper. I am still considering doing the EC-Hardin game but with how some of these posters came on here with the bashing, I am wondering if I should even go over there. Also, I have a sick wife at home, and that situation will determine where or if I am going anywhere. I will post later tonight where I am going.
  9. Who did Silsbee and HJ lose to? I think I know: Silsbee - HJ, Kountze and ??? HJ - Silsbee, Lufkin Hudson, EC, and ???? Actually, Silsbee's overall record is 20-5. Their five losses were to Ozen, Kountze, Diboll, Lukin Hudson, and HJ. HJ's losses were to St. Thomas, Hudson, EC, and Silsbee
  10. This is all very good stuff, put a lot of thought into this I see. I'll just say this: There's no doubt in my mind that t.u. can lose to A&M. Reasons: they just did by 17. Whooooooop!! ;D
  11. The PAM @ Kingwood is all about playoff implications. Also, the EC-Hardin game is not about who makes it to the playoffs but what seed, not as much pressure as one whose playoff lives are at stake. Just thought I would help you on that.
  12. Aggies win by 17, 80-63. It wasn't even that close, Ags dominated this game.
  13. I will be broadcasting our Setxsports.com Game of the Week this Friday night, but where will I be? That's where you come in. I am having a hard time determining what game I should broadcast. Here is a list of the games I am looking at and my reasons for or against doing them. 21-5A PAM 6-4 @ Kingwood 7-3 I have not done a PAM game yet and this is really a must win for the Titans if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. A win and they are tied for 3rd with 4 teams going to the playoffs, a loss and they would be on the outside looking in, would need to win out. Drawback, this game would probably be broadcast from another site and it is a long drive for me. 22-4A Nederland 5-5 @ Dayton 5-5 The records should speak for themselves. Four teams are battling for that coveted 3rd playoff spot with three of them tied with 5-5 records ( LCM is one game back at 4-6) Both these teams need this win. The last time these two met they went ot overtime with Nederland coming out on top. The way I see it, the playoffs start Friday night for these two teams along with Vidor and LCM. Drawback, I mentioned the last time these two teams met, I was there doing the broadcast, would be a double dipper. Ozen 10-0 @ Vidor 5-5 A very big upset by Vidor in this game would be a classic broadcast and would give Vidor the big edge over their opponents that they are tied with now. Drawback, it ain't going to happen, but it is a very interesting matchup. 21-3A Orangefield 7-3 @ WOS 3-7 The Bobcats can ill afford to slip up here. They must keep pace with Jasper for that third playoff spot. It could come down to that last game of the season. WOS could give Orangefield fits which is why this game would be interesting to broadcast, plus I have not done an Orangefield or WOS game yet. Downfall, only the Bobcats have something riding on this game, WOS is out of the playoff hunt. 23-2A Newton 9-1 @ Woodville 5-5 This game would have been the one I chose for this Friday had it not been for Woodville getting one stolen from them by Woden Tuesday night. With that loss, that all but eliminates Woodville from the playoffs. They are still mathematicly in it, but need lots of help from here on out. I have not done a Newton or Woodville game and I really wanted to see this Newton team. I hear they are a good one. 24-2A East Chambers 7-2 @ Hardin 7-1 This will be a doozy. The Bucs want to get back at the Hornets for beating them in their house the last time. This game could lead to a three way tie for first or will give Hardin the sole lead in that district. It should be a good one. Downfall of doing this one, no must win here as both teams have wrapped up playoff spots just now determining what seed they will be. Alright fans, there are your choices. Give me some feedback on who you would like to hear.
  14. Hey Lazeek, I was just going off of what someone who was there told me. I probably shouldn't have posted without actually being there.
  15. What???? This was at WOS #1...........so why should Silsbee administration be ashamed.........the COACH, not UIL suspended the players in question, what else should he do.........WOS fans........not Silsbee's were on the floor fighting, WOS throwing balls at Silsbee players...........and yes the 2 that got suspensions probably deserve it........but then read the article above..........NO WOS PLAYERS SUSPENDED AT THIS TIME! You said you needed facts, great, but wait until you get them before making comments like you did about Silsbee being ashamed of themselves. Here are some more facts: WOS - parent on the floor last year at Silsbee during Girls game, yelling and screaming after a foul. WOS - parent (fan) ejected at Evadale -v- Silsbee in Girls playoff last year. WOS - Fighting in FB -v- Dayton this year WOS - Fighting -v- Silsbee in boys BB this year (and these are just the ones "I" know about!) Now it could be that everyone is just picking on poor little WOS.........or maybe........well you decide! Tiger12 now would be a good time to remove that large foot from your mouth!! Lets see here: Silsbee - Players Fighting -v- WOS boys in BB LAST WEEK!! Silsbee - Players Fighting -v- HJ boys in BB THIS WEEK!! (and these are just the ones "I" know about!) Sounds like a little of the pot calling the kettle black to me!! There was no fight tonight. A Silsbee JV player committed a hard foul on a HJ player with just a couple of seconds left. The HJ player pushed back and that was it. Tempers flared a little but it was broken up quickly. That's the facts.
  16. a technical that carried over from the JV game? I've never heard of that before... I have never heard of that before either. Only thing I can think of is that the refs called it on a fan and not a player after the game had concluded. Silsbee leads after 1st 23-18 We were told the freethrows were because Silsbee dunked during pregame warm-up. They also got the ball after the shots. Absolutely great game!!!! (Not really TheT12 but her mom ---didn't want to sign-in---I'm tired after that game! ) Ah, should have known. Didn't think of the pregame dunking.
  17. Upset Tuesday Kingwood 52 Westbrook 46 Atascocita 60 PAM 53 Dayton 71 Central 64 LCM 63 Nederland 59 PNG 77 Vidor 59 Silsbee 71 HJ 69 mild EC 70 Kountze 51 mild suprising 19 point win Big winners were Dayton, LCM, and Atoscocita, kept their playoff hopes alive Big losers were PAM, Vidor, and Nederland, a win by these teams seperates them from the pack.
  18. No double digit win for the Hawks like many predicted. They missed Trey tonight but the Tigers also missed their two that were suspended, particularly their '6"8 post. If there is a rematch, look for the same type game, no blowout.
