  1. Ryan Donahoe is the best player in Southeast Texas, period!!! He is the difference between HJ winning state and Silsbee winning state, no question. Yes, the Tigers did get in foul trouble in the regional final game, but that is just Silsbee's style, they do foul alot. Most very athletic teams do. I don't think the refs had anything to do with it except for if they called a loose game that would have been more of an advantage to the Tigers. But they didn't, and you just have to adjust to it. I'm a Silsbee Tiger, but I feel the better team won.
  2. IMO, there is no doubt that Ryan would start for Lamar next year. The question is, is there interest in him from some bigger conference schools as of late? I really could see a Houston, Rice, Baylor, or another Big 12 or C-USA school offer him a scholarship. I think he is good enough to play in a bigger conference. I really don't think it will come down to just SLC schools on getting Donahoe.
  3. That final 3A poll is a joke. Actually, the polls have been a joke all season. Silsbee not included in that final 3A poll is a slap in the face to the Tigers. I know that they are not officially the state runner's up, but IMO the Tigers are the second best team in 3A. They beat HJ by 19 in district, went to overtime in regional final after leading 99% of the game where that game could have easily been a different result, but the better team did win. But what I saw at the state tournament from the other three teams was teams Silsbee would have beaten had they been there. I think the HJ folks would agree to that.
  4. Silsbee's foul trouble ended up being their demise. Our big guys inside, Ahmad Jones and Marcus Brewer both fouled out early in the 4th, and our other inside threat, Terrance Jones picked up his 3rd foul in the second qtr., had to play defense conservatively the rest of the way. Also, our leading scorer for the game, William Harper, fouled out in the OT. Give credit to Coach Sutherland and the Hawks, they took full advantage of this like any smart team would do. They went at the Tiger's weaknesses down the stretch to get this game. IMO, Silsbee put's better athletes on the floor than HJ does, but the Hawks have better basketball players, particularly one great one. HJ's basketball savy proves the difference in the end. Congrats Hawks!! Now bring home that title to 21-3A. I'll be there rooting for you guys. Congrats Tigers!! Great season when really nobody was expecting one. 3 years in 3A, 2 regional finals, lost to Diboll 56-55 in 2005 and this year's final, not too shabby. Let's hope we can get over that hump soon.
  5. Silsbee not that good, huh? I guess having lost by 19 and having to go overtime in this one to a " not so good " team doesn't speak well of HJ. We all know that these are two very good teams, the Hawks are just a little bit better.
  6. The scores were Silsbee winning 77-58 at home, HJ winning 76-62 at home. Compute those scores and Silsbee is a 5 point favorite. lol
  7. I predicted a Martin's Mill win, but did not see a 20 point win coming. Good season West Hardin, be proud.
  8. The quote stating Silsbee is the better team is pretty darn accurate. Anytime 2 teams play each other 4 times and one team wins three of them, then it's pretty obvious that team is just a little better than the other. WOS won one game against Silsbee, it just happened to be the most important one.
  9. Silsbee by 9. The Tigers will be too deep for Liberty Hill to stay with.
  10. With Silsbee, Kountze, West Hardin, and our half brothers Hardin-Jefferson still playing in the playoffs, this county has some serious basketball being played here. Only ones left out is Lumberton. Oh yeah, they got the Lady Raiders to carry that flag.
  11. As for Letsinger is concerned, he is a very good basketball player. But what seems to be missing in these posts is the fact that this is all by comparison. No one, and that includes the lumberton poster, is saying that Letsinger isn't any good. It's just he's not considered as good as these other three players mentioned. To me, that's not a knock on him but a compliment to the other players, definetly not bashing as some on here have mentioned. I know he's your hometown boy and you are going to be somewhat biased, but the fact remains that some consider Letsinger a great player only in his classification, which is not a bad thing. Percentages say that if you take the POY in each classification over a several year span, the higher classification player is usually the better of the rest, just a known fact. There was mention of Shaq that he played 3a, which is true. But you are kidding yourself he you think he wouldn't have dominated in any classification. There are exceptions to the rule, but Letsinger isn't one of them. I have been going to the boys state basketball championships for many years now, started in 1972, when I was 8 years old, haven't missed a year since. My dad started taking me when he thought I was old enough to enjoy it like him. He has been going to the tournament since 1958, be making his 50th straight this year. I said this to say this: I have seen many a great player over the years, in all classifications. There have been some in the lower classes(1A, 2A ), but not near as many in the upper classes. Most of those probably would not have been that great if they had played in those upper classes. Scholarships prove that fact. To get all bent out of shape because someone doesn't think Letsinger is as good as Donahoe, Brown, and Thomas is just silly. The fact is, those three will be playing Div. 1 ball and Letsinger probably will not.
  12. See, stang4life wasn't even at the game. The game was Wednsday night. ;D
  13. East of here? When did Lake Charles get that many people?
  14. Records in Classic: Vanderbilt 3-0 Arizona St. 2-1 Texas A&M 2-1 Rice 1-2 Houston 1-2 Baylor 0-3
  15. To me this is an easy pick. Ryan Donahoe is the player of the year in Southeast Texas. Write it down, chalk it up, put it in stone, or as it is these days, save it to the hard drive. Ryan is the best and has played better than anyone in this area. If Brown was a senior and I was a college coach and had to decide between the two, no brainer, I would take Donahoe. Brown seems to be like a T.O., which is not a good thing for a team.
  16. The same as this year: 1. WOS 2. Silsbee 3. Kirbyville
  17. Since when does a 9 point win refer to a stomping? ESPN got the man-love going for the sips.
  18. When a team only scores 16 points in a boys varsity basketball game, you blame everyone. The coach, the players, the manager, the waterboy, the cheerleaders, ect, ect. ect..... That is truely pathetic.
