  1. Milestone. Now all I need to catch Coop on posts is 44,967 more. Also need 13,824 topics started to catch him on that, all I got is 80. And the ultimate measuring stick, I have 28 days, 20 hours, and 44 minutes spent on this site, but I am 266 days, 2 hours, and 14 minutes behind Coop in most time on site. I am 9 months preg... I mean 9 months behind. Somebody steal Coops computer!!!!!!
  2. Best team: in person, 1983 Dangerfield, on film, 1976 Beaumont Hebert Best game: in person, 1992 Silsbee vs. Nederland, on film, Plano vs Tyler John Tyler. Best player: in person Michael Bishop, playoff game against LCM, never left the field. He played qb, safety, was the punter and kicker and returned kickoffs and punts, he simply beat LCM by himself. On film, Eric Dickerson.
  3. I understand about some industries closing and Rita causing population to drop in Orange. What I am questioning is what is the population in Orange right now? Is it the 18,000 that was posted earlier? If so, how can you have that many in the city limits and have less than 700 in high school? The numbers just don't make any sense. I compared Silsbee's numbers ( city pop. 6360, high school 843 ) and it just doesn't seem possible that WOS has that few numbers based on the cities population. Something else has to be driving students away from that school distict or the numbers are way off. Yes, the PERCEPTION is that the only thing that matters at WOS is football. I have seen the other sports digress over the last few years ( exception, that one year in basketball and track, which is football related ) and their UIL academic teams and their band. Their band has really fallen off over the years, I believe making 4's at contest the last few years, though I could be wrong on that. Bottom line is, yes several schools in our area have been hurt by the economy and other things beyond our control. But I think WOS has been hurt more so than others because of some things they could control.
  4. That's so true, abtr. If that were to happen, my wife would be the first to picket the gates at Cardinal Stadium in protest of it. You got to have the band.
  5. Other than WOS, huh. Funny, no team in that crappy Liberty district can beat Silsbee.
  6. That just about says it all.
  7. Just another failure waiting to happen. I think Beaumont has proven over and over again that it cannot support a professional sports franchise.
  8. Using the DCTF rankings, how many and who are the ranked teams that your team will face this regular season? For Silsbee: 3 Diboll Newton WOS
  9. Is that 18,000 what is now the population? If so, how in the world can you have that many people within the city limits and only have 691 in high school? Just how many of those within the city limits attend LCM? I ask these questions because the numbers just don't make sense. In Silsbee, we have a population of 6,360, but have 843 in high school. We have 150 more students in high school than WOS but our city has 12,000 less. What's up with that?
  10. I've got mine!!! It's so nice to have connections.
  11. That's incorrect. Lamar would have to be FBS for that to happen. C-USA does not allow member schools to travel to FCS schools. That's another reason to go FBS. There's not too many FCS schools in this part of the country, so it limits who you can bring in for home games. Exactly, Lamar playing FCS is limited to home games with FCS or lower. With the exception of Mcneese, expect low attendance. Playing FBS Lamar can play anyone Lamar can bring in, both FBS and FCS. UH and Lamar could have cheap high attendance home and home games every year. Both schools would get fans going to each away game. It's a win-win. Give it time, give it time. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  12. When did Carthage join 21-3A?
  13. I predict Silsbee to return and do better than the semis.
  14. Setxsports has got dibs on a suite. ;D
  15. Okay, what is the over/under line for how long Coach Landry will be there? BTW, Congrats( I think ) and good luck Coach Landry.
  16. Get your facts straight. First off, Buckner is not '6"4, he's '6"1, and he did not lead his team to the playoffs this year. Memorial did not make the playoffs this year.
  17. I think BISD will start building the stadium very soon. I would bet dirt will be flying before Summer is over. Wanna bet? Name your price.
  18. I may even have to go out and broadcast one of their games this year for our site.
  19. You're joking, right? They'll probably build a 12K stadium for that price. PNG is spending about $10M on renovating their stadium, and it costs a lot more to build a new one from the ground up. The BISD will look like a nice high school stadium while Lamar will have a nice college stadium. Coachacola, you forget who you're talking too. UNLV is the king of pessimism when it comes to Lamar's football stadium. He is so clouded with negativity that he can't even see the numbers correctly. You are right, BISD will build a 12,000 to 15,000 seat high school stadium, nothing more.
  20. Most likely games won't be played there till 2012 or 2013, if not later. BISD knows how to drag their feet.
  21. BISD Board Approves Land Purchase for Athletic Complex Comments 0 | Recommend 0 June 19, 2008 - 8:58PM Ashley Rodrigue & Scott Lawrence The Beaumont school board has approved the purchase of land for a new multi-purpose athletic complex, and as KFDM News first reported in April, the land is off Interstate 10 near Brooks Road. The board met in executive session during its Thursday night meeting, and it emerged shortly before 9 p.m. and approved the purchase. The pricetag is $3,655,000. The land is near the baseball fields at Ford Park. It's on the same side as Ford Park, but not within Ford Park. 6 News reporter Ashley Rodrigue will have more on the story at 10.
