Due to some other game being postponed, I will travel up to Kirbyville to broadcast the Orangefield Bobcats and Kirbyville Wildcats baseball game. Not trusting my memory, but wasnt he also successful as an Olympian? Wonder why it wasn't someone from Ozen? Mark never won a medal as a two-time Olympian weightlifter. He never quite could get the techniques down that makes up an Olympian weightlifter, it's very different from powerlifting. But, for Mark to make the team twice was a testament of his great strength. Only 3 super heavyweights make the US Olympic team. That comes from a very big pool of lifters nation wide. I believe that to be a great accomplishment in itself.

To clarify, I don't think they have national high school powerlifting team rankings, but, Mark Henry was the national powerlifting champion his senior year at Silsbee.

He just has to be released by his previous school. Best I understand, he has to be released by his previous school first, then he has to wait until the 7th calender day following the earlier of either a 3 week progress report or a six week grading report that shows he is passing in Texas. This is correct. Silsbee had a basketball player this year that moved in from Louisiana and he had to wait. He played 3/4 of the season on JV, then when became eligible, he was moved up to varsity. He is a junior.

The enrollment at SJ is a bit decieving. That 892 is the total number of males in that school, since they are an all male school. A normal enrollment number, by addding females, would put them right on the cut line of 4A and 5A.

Well that just shows you how competitive 4a and 5a are its a hole diffrent type of game fromm 1a 2a 3a and thats the truth! what HJ has done in 3a the past couple of years is GREAT they have awsome coaching and talent but.... its much harder IMO to get to the state tourny in 4A and 5A just so much talent and skill on both teams with more depth!! IMO the state teams some yr in 1A can compete with the state champ from 2A and 2a compete and sometime beat the State team from 3A but the biggest gap is between 3a and 4a the state team from 3a would be hard for them to make it a game with the team from 4a its just not gonna happen you can have a 1 or 2 studs in 1a 2a 3a and make the state tourny but in 4a and 5a it takes more than that ex... ( Yates vs Kimball the best player on the floor IMO is the PG from Kimball all around great player but they still got beat by 25) but if you took that PG and put him on HJ they would have won state its just takes more talent to get to the state tourny in 4a and 5a then it does small schools!! but what HJ has done is Great and they have become a powerhouse in 3A and no team should ever overlook them in the playoffs and i cant wait to watch some more of there game next season !!!!! That's funny, since Dallas Madison 3A state champ beat Dallas Kimball this year. Also, Argyle a 3A quarterfinalist defeated Kimball this year.

I'll take D.C. Stallworth of Silsbee. He has started for the Tigers both his freshman and soph. years, made all district both years. Very important player for Silsbee.

Pudge will do well, as long as he stays healthy. 50 points higher batting average from the catcher spot will do wonders for the Stros.

Now, if someone had made that same comment in reverse you would be showing your full deck of race cards right about now. Hmmmmm.... I agree. Fact is, I never knew there was anything "urban" when talking about the communities of Cheek and China. Are there even any two story buildings in these communities? Didn't they just get indoor plumbing at these places? ;D ;D ;D

if you ask me they arent they're nowhere close to the powerhouses such as ozen, yates, wheatley,oakcliff come on kenny lets be real all these team would run them out the gym so therefore their not being worthy of mention when it comes to elite teams in the state and definetly not the country Ozensfinest, I think you misunderstood Kenny's statement. He is saying that HJ and Silsbee SHOULDN'T be mentioned among the tops teams in the country or state. What he is saying is that they SHOULD be considered amongst the top teams in Class 3A in the state. The fact is, that is what all of us has been saying all along. None of us have said that HJ and Silsbee should be included with the Yates and Ozen's as far as overall teams in the state. But what we have argued is that they should be considered in the top 10 of all class 3A teams and that these programs, even though they are 3A :, are considered some of the best in the state. Nobody is saying that we can compete at the top with these 5A and 4A teams, but they are not also-rans like some have said. An example of that would be Silsbee this season. We lost by one point at Ozen, who was 20-4A district champs, beat Central at Central by 23, who was a playoff team out of that district. Now, I know that this is speculation, but I feel that Silsbee would have done well against Nederland and Livingston as well, if they had played. Point is, yes we HJ and Silsbee fans love and support our teams and we talk them up here on this messageboard. But, I don't think any of us have claimed state supremacy over these top 4A and 5A teams.
