I certainly can agree with this choice. Central was disappointing to me. I really thought they had a shot at upsetting Ozen this year.

How do I deserve that comment? BTW, going off the "ORIGINAL" title of this thread, I would kick a field goal. Of course, now that skipper has decided to be more elaborate with his conditions, :, obviously 3 points wouldn't be enough. Therefore a bootleg with the option to pass or run would be a good call. The fact that you could still get a first down without getting a touchdown could be a deciding factor on if a coach thought he could get it by running the ball. Skipper, does the team have any timeouts left? Care to be more elaborate? I know that seems to be hard for you.

I understand why you left off Silsbee. Getting to the regional tourney is a great accomplishment. But, this Silsbee team had bigger aspirations and I agree with spinks, was talented enough and good enough to win a state championship this year. Disappointing season for the Tigers, particularly losing in the regional semis to a team you defeated earlier in the season by 45.

Brooks for SJ was probably the most talented player at the tourney, but he killed SJ with his out of control play. He was forcing way too much and not letting it come to him. I agree with Nos, Frazier for SJ was the player of the tourney IMO. He was basically unstoppable. He did remind me of Acie Law. Washington for Desoto had very good basketball skills for a blue chip OL-DL football player. I was impressed. I think in time, Wagner of Estacado will be a very talked about player, still a bit young and makes mistakes due to his inexperience. I hope his lack of height doesn't hurt him. But he was the man down the stretch against HJ. Jared Lane of Slocum was probably the best pure shooter at the tourney. I was told this by a friend, but had my doubts. After watching him, I agree.

Thats right...rankings are so very key to a program... :....State championships are a mere afterthought.... : See, it's this kind of statement that leads me and others to believe you are just blowing smoke. Just what do you mean that you are smarter than most? Most what? Are you saying that you are smarter than 80% of the people you come in contact with or that you know? I would like some clarification on this statement, please. As for the friend part, I have gotten in arguments with many posters on here, including some HJ people, but that doesn't mean I can't be friends with them or they can't be friends with me. This type of discussion has nothing to do with being or gaining "friends". It's about being respectful and in return getting respect.

Final SFA 68 UTSA 57 SFA makes their first ever NCAA tourney!

Dallas Madison has to go to overtime to beat a team that had to go to overtime to beat HJ. If HJ shoots better from the freethrow line or cuts down on their uncharacteristic high number of turnovers, they beat LE. In some eyes, including mine, HJ wasn't the "best" team in Region III but they did what no other team in 3A did, beat 3 ranked teams to get to Austin. They were more than deserving of representing Region III in Austin. Dicky, you can argue that Region I or II has the best "team" as in singular, the last 10 years or so, but not the best Region as a whole.

and all this time Slocum and Desoto wins state championships. I believe I got the better deal out of these two.

Kountze is now 2A, but I will give them that...TWO finals appearances in ten years means your region is not very strong. No it doesn't....It would have been worse! Region 3-3A Is just not that good....One finals APPEARANCE in the last ten years speaks volumes, no matter how much you guys try to pump up this region in 3A...Its just not that good. I would agree that the top 2 to 3 teams in Regions I and II are always great teams. But for overall depth, and I am talking about 10 or more teams, I think Region III takes a backseat to no one. HJ and Silsbee would NOT have made the region I or II regional tourneys...Region III in 4A and 5A is VERY deep....In 3A, not so. HJ, Silsbee, maybe Jasper, and thats a stretch. You are wrong. I saw Liberty Hill, who was a region I semifinalist, they were no better than HJ or Silsbee. Also the team that Estacado beat in the regional finals, Seminole, lost to Estacado by 34 points!! Now Burkburnett is good, even though they lost to Estacado in the regional semis by 14. But HJ, Silsbee, Cleveland and Navasota are just as good. As for Region II, I would admit that Madison, Argyle, Pleasant Grove and maybe Princeton are top notch, but I feel that after those teams, it drops off fairly well. I think HJ or Silsbee could be a regional team in Region II but I will admit, it would be tough.
