  1. You need to get a new reporter on the seen. I just left and it was 9 - 0 Jasper. Yes, I need to fire him. Just can't believe some people. ;D
  2. Just got word, Silsbee scored 11 in the bottom of the first, Tigers lead 11-1.
  3. Don't forget the very speedy qb Jeremy Johnson.
  4. As for Silsbee, I am looking forward to the Diboll and Lumberton games. We have never played Diboll and it's been awhile since we have had a REAL game with Lumberton. We still have Newton and Jasper non-district, which are always great. As for district, the opening district game with WOS will be the best.
  5. I would tend to agree with this but with a disclaimer. The question was what ballpark was easiest to hit homers in. BC and LCM parks may field great amounts of homers, but I think it's because of the quality of hitters that play in those parks and not so much so the park itself. I believe the ballpark in High Island with the field facing towards the north and getting that constant gulf wind behind you, is the easiest to hit dingers in. You put BC, LCM and their opponents hitters in that park, and you better have a good supply of baseballs.
  6. Speaking of the Gamble team, of the 10 players on the team, only 3 are seniors, Thomas, Joseph and Malbrough. Next year's Gamble team should be interesting with more than likely 4-5 very good players left off the team. With these 7 players being seniors next year, you'll also have the likes of DeCarlos Franks of Ozen, Devin Brey and Roman Walker of Kountze, and '6"7 Avory Thomas of Silsbee becoming juniors along with senior to be Trey Burrell from Hardin-Jefferson, they may need to extend the team to 12 players instead of 10.
  7. This statement does has some merit, BUT, the PA NEWS goes as far north as Beaumont and that's it. It's circulation does not reach Silsbee or Kountze, but each school has had players on the PA News-Gamble teams. I think it's just a matter of those reporters knowing something about the players. Bottom line is, Marsh never got the pub that most of these other players got. I saw Marsh play 3 times this year, and he is a good player, but like Dick said, that's how all star teams are picked and there will always be someone left off that's probably just as deserving.
  8. They could park in vacant area around Vincent-Beck and have shuttles running to and from the stadium.
  9. Oh Lawd, here we go. :
  10. Kudos to this post. Couldn't agree more, abtr.
  11. Yes he was very excited. I think he is ready to make this official but he has to wait till the 9th. He seemed to be chomping at the bit though. ;D
  12. Ang Green, 2 time All Stater from Silsbee will play in two all start games coming up. She will play in the TABC State All Star game on May 3 in San Antonio and will also play in the TGCA All Star game in Arlington on July 10. Also, Ms. Green will be signing her national letter of intent to play for Lamar University on Wed. April 9, at 2pm at Silsbee High School. Congrats to you Ang on all of your accolades and for furthering your basketball career.
  13. Most definetly, probably greater.
  14. Only because you can win 10 majors in a year... Ittakes 82 games and a playoff just to get one ring! Correction, there are only 4 majors in the calender year. Masters, US Open, The Open Championship ( British Open ) and the PGA Championship. Both MJ's and Tiger's accomplishments are mind blowing, but the question was who was more dominate in their respective sport, and IMO, Tiger has dominated his sport far more than MJ did.
  15. That's a no brainer. I agree.
  16. You are so right, I agree. Dead on!! It's like in golf, Jack Nicklaus is the greatest of all time because of his record, but we all know that Tiger is the best that the world has ever seen. It's just a matter of time for him to beat Jack's record.
  17. Question for bleed orange. Has your daughter been offered by anyone?
  18. I think what Coach Neumann was referring to about coaching at Lamar was that he wouldn't mind being an assistant there. I think he knows that Lamar will not hire a high school coach to be their head coach and start the program up.
  19. A romp huh? Maybe against the rest of the district but not Silsbee. The two times these teams have faced each other in district since dropping down, both games were close. No other district team has given WOS closer games in district. 20-13, 17-6, no romps here. In fact, I believe those are the 2 lowest offensive outputs the Stangs have in district play, which to me says a lot. I'll predict another district title for WOS, but their game with the Tigers will be another close one with the Mustangs edging it out in the end. NO ROMP!!
  20. No, not really. I just noticed that 90% of your teams were from the 90's and 2000 era, which is understandable being that was when you were playing and coaching. Based just solely on high school performance, there would be a few more 70's and 80's players on my list, but the point being, this is YOUR list and I respect that. ho are the 70's and 80's players that you speak of? Most Older guys would back the Bj Tyler, Stephen Jackson, and Damon Sweet picks... They were head and shoulders above most... So would you please enlighten me!!! First of all, I did not post in order to try and tear down Dick's teams, not at all. Also, I definetly have no problem with his first team, that's as good as it gets. All of his picks came from what personal knowledge he has or was told and he had to go off of that, therefore the majority of his teams are from his era, no real issue with that either. I was just curious as to what criteria he used in picking the teams. By just using high school performance and accolades, there are other's from different era's they could be on the second, third and honorable mention teams as well. But like I said, this is his picks and I am good with that. BTW Dick, I believe B.B. Davis was from Bmt. French, not BCP. Oh Ok... I thought you knew some names personally, so i was just curious to know who they were... I am always into learning more... As for as knowing some personally, I do. For instance, I know of three players from Silsbee that had better high school careers than Damion Bush from Silsbee did. They are James Simmons '73, Dexter Wallace '79 and Lloyd McArthur '83. Also Rahn Bailey of Bmt. Hebert '82, Kenneth "Perk" Perkins of BCP '79, Ryan Donahoe '07 HJ ( I know he is more recent, but still left off ) are some that COULD be listed at least honorable mention.I also believe Darryl McArthur, a McDonalds All American from Silsbee, COULD be second team rather than MyKyer of Lincoln. I emphasize COULD not SHOULD, as I will say again, this is Dick's teams and he's just calling it like he sees it. It's all good.

  23. I do have a question for you Dick about your teams, and I hope you consider it a valid one. What criteria did you use for your teams, high school performance only or high school, college and professional? Just curious.
  24. 16 games remaining, but 10 of those are on the road, I say they'll go 12-4 in this stretch.
