  1. Gabe, are you a big Kerry Collins fan? ;D
  2. The economy crunch hit. Got laid off. Not working right now and I need to get well soon so that I can hit the pavement to look for a job.
  3. I would greatly appreciate if someone who goes to this game could call in some updates of this game so that I could post them to the game thread. You can call me on my home number, 409-385-9576, or my Verizon cell at 429-8348, text or call. Thanks very much.
  4. ABTR, great to see you back on here, I've been missing you. Where you been?
  5. I still don't quite understand this ranking. : Region 3 #1 Diboll #3 Bullard #4 Robinson #9 Orangefield : #13 Brownsboro #16 Navasota #17 Hardin-Jefferson : #18 Crockett This should be reversed.
  6. I can give you a top 8, not top 10: 1. New Waverly 2. Sabine 3. Newton 4. Franklin 5. Hearne 6. Kountze 7. Anahuac 8. St. Augustine the top 2 are as solid as they come, the next 2 are very good, and the next 4 you could probably interchange from 5-8.
  7. What I know about New Waverly other than the fact that they are ranked #1 in state is they gave my Silsbee Tigers a very good game, losing to them 67-60 after really only having one good practice together as a team. NW had just finished football the weekend before they played Silsbee. The very next game for New Waverly, which was the same day by the way, they beat Kountze by 8, 65-57. I would think that New Waverly is playing much better now, than they were then.
  8. Lumberton @ Ozen (-38 1/2) Central (-3 1/2) @ Nederland Livingston (-7 1/2) @ LCM Vidor @ PNG (-6 1/2) Silsbee (-39 1/2) @ Bridge City WOS (-20 1/2) @ Hamshire-Fannett Hardin-Jefferson (-16 1/2) @ Orangefield Anahuac (-23 1/2) @ Warren Hardin @ Buna (-8 1/2) East Chambers @ Kountze (-31 1/2)
  9. Due to the fact that I have now gotten pneumonia, I will not be able to broadcast the Silsbee/Bridge City game tonight. If all things go well over the next few days, I should be back broadcasting Tuesday night when Silsbee plays host to Orangefield. Until then, my sincerest apologies for these inconveniences. I just need to get well. Mike Sanchez, Tiger Sports and Setxsports.com broadcaster
  10. He's going to the girls game. : ;D
  11. I have seen Navasota this year. They are not as good as most folks think. Yes they have the big '6"7 300lb post and a couple of good guards but they definetly miss Pratt. He enrolled early at Okie St. and his presence is missed. He was one of the main scoring threats last year, avg. 16 points and 9 boards. Silsbee would only face Navasota in the regional final, and I like Silsbee's chances head up against Navasota.
  12. Yes. To be honest with you, I don't see Kountze beating New Waverly. I look for New Waverly to represent Region 3 in Austin.
  13. I am afraid this isn't the beginning of anything. Lamar is playing poorly and it will show Saturday night. SFA will beat the Cards by 15.
  14. C'mon Gabe, why make that drive? Both these teams have playoff spots wrapped up. Where as the Orangefield boys team is fighting for their playoff lives. This could be their chance to pull off the big upset.
  15. Orangefield over HJ? Are you serious? That just shows what little you know about this pickem contest. Just because he chose Orangefield doesn't mean he is picking them to win. He may of chosen the Bobcats because he thinks HJ will win, but not cover the point spread. Your fellow Hawk fan Lazeek made the same choice, I don't see you calling him out.
  16. I want to add, that in all fairness, I would like someone from the chapter to post their side of the story or contact me with their information.
  17. I really would like to hear the other side of the story. I have only heard from the coaches standpoint.
  18. This was a very good win for the Tigers. After coming off the big, big win at HJ, Silsbee could have gotten caught in what some people call a "trap game". The Tigers could have came out flat and laid a big egg but to the credit of the Tiger coaching staff and it's players, they took care of business and remain undefeated in district play. Silsbee played great defense against a very quick Mustang team and Silsbee's ability to handle another press just shows what great guard play they have. Also what sets Silsbee apart from all the other district 21-3A teams is the fact the Tigers have 7 players that can come out and give you double figure scoring. Last night Silsbee had 4 players in double figures with another at 8 points, while the other two that didn't score in double figures, have done on several occassions this season. I believe they have the benefit of having a go to player(Robinson) along with a very balanced scoring offense that as many as 7-8 players get heavily involved. The Tigers have it all in the fact they have penetrating guards(Robinson, Hill) three point artist in Walters and Byars, and inside scoring with Stallworth and Thomas. Throw in Lane with his ability to create his own shot and be the Tigers mid range scorer, gives the Tigers a very balanced offensive team. The defense, well it speaks for itself. Great win Silsbee. Hope to see you guys Friday night.
  19. Like I said before, it's a marathon, not a sprint. I just keep reeling them in one at a time.
  20. Here are Friday's pickems: Lumberton @ Ozen (-38 1/2) Central (-3 1/2) @ Nederland Livingston (-7 1/2) @ LCM Vidor @ PNG (-6 1/2) Silsbee (-39 1/2) @ Bridge City WOS (-20 1/2) @ Hamshire-Fannett Hardin-Jefferson (-16 1/2) @ Orangefield Anahuac (-23 1/2) @ Warren Hardin @ Buna (-8 1/2) East Chambers @ Kountze (-31 1/2) Good Luck!
  21. That's what the flu will do for ya. It's got me down for the count. Hopefully I can be back Friday night.
  22. In the new realignment, they had an odd number of schools in 3A. This region got one designated district to be a bye. There are no schools in district 23. All the byes from district 23 was dispersed just like it had teams coming out of it. Therefore that's why some schools will get byes to the second round and some will get second round byes. Right now how it stands, if Silsbee does finish the district champion, they will play Cameron Yoe, who right now is runner up in District 24. They are behind district leader Navasota, but are ahead of 3 teams that are tied for that third spot at 4-4. Cameron Yoe was 5-2 entering tonight's game. If WOS holds on to the third spot, they will face Coldspring in the first round and the winner will get a bye all the way to the third round round where they will play the winner of Silsbee/Cameron Yoe. The winner of that game will go to Huntsville for the regional tourney. I really like Silsbee's chances of going back to regionals, but we still got to play'em one at a time.
