  1. I think what needs to be done here is for everyone to post their school's all time players at each position then we can work from there. I'll start a new thread.
  2. Kerry, I believe you and Jordan are wrong on a couple of things, but all in all, the rest I can agree on. Where you guys are wrong( and I can understand about Jordan since he is a Bulldog), is where you guys have Jasper going to the playoffs and Silsbee not going. I believe you guys are selling Silsbee a little too short and giving Jasper too much credit, particularly where Brooks is concerned. He's a very good coach, but it will take more than just one year to get those Dawgs back where they belong.
  3. Beasley was a great athlete playing quarterback, not a great quarterback, there is a difference. If he was a great qb, he would have been recruited by t.u. for that position, not defensive back.
  4. Just like the Beasley call on Dodge, Joe Washington and Jamaal Charles were better than Reggie Davis.
  5. I agree with the Bulldog fans. Being a Tiger myself, it's a no brainer, Silsbee-Jasper is the rivalry.
  6. No way does Beasley beat out Todd Dodge at quarterback.
  7. I stand corrected on the Sterling-Central score, was closer than I thought, even though I did mention that I wasn't sure about the score. My point was, Silsbee dominated Sterling and so should have Central.
  8. Okay, well I am not sure what this post has to do with this particular topic. But, to comment on your post, I've never heard of Gunther Westfall.
  9. Donovan Harris and Daniel Paulus of Silsbee were the only local 3A players to make Texas Top 300 recruit list. The '6"1 180lb. 4.5 Harris and the '6"4 310lb 5.2 Paulus will be counted on this year to lead the Tigers back to the playoffs. Also, Silsbee's DE Josh Skinner ( '6"5 230lb ) and HJ's RB Trey Burrel ( '6"1 185lb ) were the only local 3A players to make the top junior list.
  10. Due to a rainout on Saturday, the championship was shortened to 36 holes. Here are the results: 1. Dawie Van Der Walt 67-70=137 $3,000 2. J.P. Landry 72-68=140 $1,800 3. Michael O'Brein 69-72=141 $1,200 T4. Oliver Bekker 69-73=142 $600 T4. Michael Arnaud 72-70=142 $600 T4. Lee Comeaux 72-70=142 $600 7. Everette Nini 70-73=143 $200 Congrats to Dawie on his first professional win.
  11. The question is will Jasper make the playoffs, and the answer is simply " No ".
  12. Leaders after the first round: 1. Van Der Walt 67 T2. Bekker 69 T2. O'Brein 69 4. Nini 70 6 other players at 72
  13. The two Lamar Ping All Americans will be teeing it up this weekend at the 40th Annual Silsbee Men's Golf Association Invitational. Lamar fans come on out and support these two great players as they knock it around Silsbee Country Club for their first paycheck. If anyone is interested in coming out, you can contact me at 679-7069, and I can give you the information needed. Mike Sanchez, President Silsbee MGA
  14. Actually, I won't be suprised to see WOS, Silsbee, and Kirbyville finish district tied with 6-1 records.
  15. Hey Kerry, why do you think the magazine did a poor job with the rankings? What teams in paticular? What classifications?
  16. The Houston Sterling-Silsbee game is going to be interesting. I say that after what happened last year. The Tigers totally dominated Sterling last year, winning 56-32, but it wasn't even that close. Silsbee was ahead going into the fourth 56-12, gave up 3 tds late with our scrubs in. The very next week, Sterling put a whooping on Beaumont Central, winning something like 50-28, not real sure on the score though. It will be interesting to see what Sterling team shows up.
  17. Not only do I believe that the two best teams in baseball, Jasper and BC, are in this district, but I also believe that the two best teams in basketball came from this district, HJ and Silsbee.
  18. Silsbee is located about 20 miles north of Beaumont. Silsbee's website is the SISD site. Other than that, you can get most of the athletic info right here on this site, including the Tiger's schedule.
  19. I assume you are asking about the most recent years in 4A. The last 6 years that Silsbee was in 4A, the Tigers went to the playoffs 3 times, making it all the way to the regional finals in '98. The other 2 were in '99 and '01. The last 2 years in 4A were not good, going 1-9 and 0-10. Silsbee then dropped to 3A in '04 and has made the playoffs all 3 years. Silsbee made the playoffs another 10 or so times in 4A prior to the years I mentioned.
  20. I think what STiger85 was saying, the Silsbee-Jasper rivalry goes back farther than the PNG-Nederland one does. Yes PNG/Ned has played more games but that's because Silsbee/Jasper took a hiatus from each other for several years. Silsbee-Jasper rivalry started before PNG-Nederland did.
  21. Never saw Rocky Rocquemore play. In fact, I never heard of him. What year? What school?
  22. I agree. I posted that I would put David ahead of Ferrell, but didn't mean that he was the best point guard from Silsbee. James Simmons was by far the better point guard, one of the best ever players to come out of Silsbee. I still say Darrell McArthur was the best, he just never did anything after high school.
  23. You are right Jay, Ferrel " Pokey " Artis was one of the best true point guards from this area. But I would have to put Silsbee's David " Bugs " Green ahead of him.
  24. Pound for Pound??? This isn't boxing. Besides, Mickens and Boutte were about the same size. Really this is nothing to get bent out of shape over. It's just one man's opinion poll, nothing official about that. Obviously, there are several other players worthy of being on a top ten poll from this area.
  25. He was better than Boutte and McKyer for sure. Heck, Boutte wasn't even the best player on his high school team. Donald Mickens was the better of those two.
