Jan 6th---Goodrich 110 Centerville 13 final
AggiesAreWe replied to alloutballer's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If Goodrich could have made that last 3 pointer, they could have covered that 99 point spread. ;D -
A HJ guy saying that SR is the best guard in the district when HJ has Benard????? Someone must be upset about something. This is 2 negative comments towards JB in the last week if I am not mistaken!!! JB and SR are both very good IMO, I have seen both play several times and if I had a choice I would take JB!!!! ;D ;D ;D Of course you would, being from HJ. I have seen both of these guys plenty of times. I would take Shannon. "Here we go round in circles" ;D ;D ;D

After starting the year 27-2, Boston has lost 6 of their last 8 games. I want to hear from Nos, spinks and other Celtic backers on what is going on with this team. (personally, I can't believe LB hasn't come on here and hammered Boston during this bad time) ;D

Best 3 Point Shooter This Year?
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just to name some of the one's I have seen this year: Silsbee- Byars, Robinson and Walters (neither has set themselves apart from the other 2,imo ) HJ-Benard (but he hasn't shot that well from the 3 this year ) Orangefield-Smith (in the 3 games I have seen, he shot the 3 better than Hayes ) West Brook- Lopez ( killed Silsbee with the 4 three's, 3 in the clutch ) Nederland- Hammond ( even though Fitch has hit some clutch ones ) Ozen- Frank (about the only player for Ozen that even attempts them ) Big Sandy- Tolar Kountze- McDaniel EC- Smith (soph.) Kelly- Cockrell There are others. I only named a few from this area. There are others from schools not from this area that I have seen that should be mentioned. A couple of Liberty Hill players along with a Cleveland, Aldine Eisenhower, Hitchcock and New Waverly players. -
Silsbee vs. Kelly Updates/Broadcast/Silsbee Wins!
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
My concerns were not soley based on that game. I have broadcasted and/or watched at least 14 of the Tiger 18 games this year and my observation is that D.C. is not getting his fair share of the calls inside. He is very aggressive to the bucket, I'll admit, but his quickness deserves to be rewarded with foul calls and he is not getting them. As for the game against Kelly, yes there were more fouls called on Kelly than on Silsbee. But, when you are fouling every few seconds in that last 2 minutes of the game to try and give your team a chance to win, then the numbers will definetly look one-sided. Oh, and nobody expected Silsbee to blowout Kelly, even though we did the first time we played. : -

Best Sub-Varsity teams (9th/JV)
AggiesAreWe replied to ozenfreshman's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Huntingtons jv is 13-1. They have a guard and post that could play on a lot of varsity teams.........Lufkins jv beat them by two. I was looking at The Woodlands College Park basketball website and their soph. team has two '6"7's and a '6"6 player on the squad. Yaw!! -
Who is the Best to come out of your school
AggiesAreWe replied to cardinals4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Back in the day, class of '75 they had a brother named Michael Dabney. He could do it all. He had a deadly accurate jumper, and he could hit it from downtown 3 pt range on in. He could do it al. He could dribble, had mad handles, rebound, take it to the rack, everything. His nephew played at Ozen with Perkins. Darrell MacArthur may have been close, but I don't think he could of been better than Michael Dabney. I saw both of these players play. Not taking anything away from Dabney, but McArthur was on another level. McArthur was a McDonald's All-American, I think Dabney may have made all-state honorable mention. -

Best Sub-Varsity Coaches (JV/Soph/9th)
AggiesAreWe replied to basketballbmt11's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
hands down. you have a quality varsity coach coaching your JV. you can't tell me that hasn't had a bit to do with HJ's recent success. Recent success??????? The varsity has 4 losses this season and all were to teams that are not as good as HJ!!!!!!! They should be 25-0 at this point. Heads will be rolling!!!! : : : ;D ;D ;D Definetly, Lazeek. Clay is a drag on the HJ program. ;D ;D ;D -
College Park plays in district 14-5A along with Lufkin, Oak Ridge, The Woodlands, Conroe, and New Caney. Their record is 15-10 and they average 61 points a game and give up an avg. of 56. They started out the season 4-7 in their first 11 games but have since gone 11-3 over their last 14, with none of those losses coming in the state of Texas. CP lost to 3 California teams in a tournament in San Diego. They did beat an Arizona team along with another California team out there in that tourney. They do have a common opponent with Silsbee in that CP defeated West Brook 74-58 on Dec. 19th, about two weeks prior to when Silsbee played the Briuns. Their key players are: Garrett Constance Sr. '6"5 avg. 14p 6 rebs Adam Rowe Jr. '6"0 avg. 12 p 4 assists Edward Porter Sr. '6"2 avg. 8p A.J. Meyers Sr. '5"10 avg. 8p James Allen Sr. '6"0 avg. 8p Sam Ryan Jr. '6"10 avg. 6p 8 rebs. Other than the '6"10 guy, they are not that tall. But according to their stats, very good shooters, both from the field and at the line. They seem to play a more deliberate style offense and looking at their opponents scoring, CP plays some pretty good defense. Constance, their top player, is a '6"5 guard. Big guards always give Silsbee fits. This should be a very good test for Silsbee come Saturday. For more info you can go to their website [Hidden Content] and get their entire schedule and results.

Silsbee Basketball Schedule change.
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I am about to post some info on College Park. Look for that thread. -
Silsbee's schedule has changed a little as they will not have a game this Friday night @Newton. Instead they will be hosting The Woodlands College Park on Saturday, the 10th at 1pm. The Tigers still will not have a game on the 13th. It will be nice to have a home game for a change. We will be broadcasting the game against The Woodlands College Park on Staurday, with broadcast time to start around 12:45pm.

Silsbee vs. Kelly Updates/Broadcast/Silsbee Wins!
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Silsbee played better tonight. The Tigers were able to get some open shots which Byars, Robinson and Walters were able to nail. Then it opened up some space inside and Stallworth took advantage. Shannon was able to penetrate and with some crisp passes, he was able to get the baseline man some easy buckets. Hill attacked the basket as always and had at least 6 steals in the game. The only drawback offensively was the Tigers struggling from the freethrow line. Silsbee should have iced this game away with over a minute and a half left but they just couldn't nail down the freethrows. Silsbee shot 55% from the line, 50% down the stretch. With a descent freethrow %, the Tigers could have put this one away by at least 15. Silsbee will have to get better at the line in order to put away teams instead of letting them hang around. It will eventually come back to get'em. Also, Avory Thomas needs to get out of this slump he is in. Silsbee will need his presence down inside both offensively and defensively. I know you can play better, Avory, I have seen you do it. Keep your head up and keep playing hard. As for the Tiger defense, they still aren't playing very well. The intensity level on defense is just not there as the Tigers were slow to get back down court on several occasions. Kelly got some easy buckets in transition. The Tiger pressure was inconsistant as we were able to get some steals and create some turnovers but also gave up too many shots inside. Silsbee definetly has to do a better job on the defensive boards. But I think with Silsbee playing a smaller lineup helped contribute to Kelly being able to get some offensive rebounds. All in all it was a good win for Silsbee over a pretty good opponent on the road. Kelly has really been playing better of late and I knew that they would give the Tigers a much better game than the one they played back in November. I do want to add one more thing before I end this post. If there are any officials viewing this thread, I want to know what it's going to take for Stallworth to get some calls inside. This young man is taking a beating every game. I just hope and pray he is able to finish the season. I want to thank Coach Knowles and Coach Long for their help and hospitality. It was greatly appreciated. Leading scorers for Silsbee: Robinson 18 Hill 14 Stallworth 12 Byars 12 (4 three's) -

Lamar vs. Southeastern LA Predictions?
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I say there will be less than 4,000 in attendance. Probably just over 3,000. I'll predict 3,237. -
Sounds more hope than reality ;D Nope. The reality is that Orangefield is not that good. Okay, let me find a seat and relax. Hah-hh, okay Bobcat05 it's your turn I don't know I haven't seen WOS play, but they did win the HJ touny... OField is going to beat Silsbee anyway so we can lose to WOS and still go to the playoffs ;D ;D Come on Bobcat, tell the truth what have you been smoking lately? ;D ok ok maybe they won't beat Silsbee both times...but we will beat HJ both times.. ;D Let's hope the Bobcats don't play like they did against HJ in the EC tourney. There won't be a hint of a win if they do.

Any other schools getting a new stadium?
AggiesAreWe replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
From a broadcaster's perspective, please have them put at least a phone line in the pressbox, but preferably get ethernet or wifi up there. It is the only pressbox in Southeast Texas that doesn't have at least a phone line.
