According to my calculations, Silsbee should be in that #50 spot for least average points allowed. Silsbee has given up 121 points in 6 games. That makes it a 20.16 average. Here's there scores: Silsbee 34 Houston Davis 38 Silsbee 24 Diboll 27 Silsbee 31 Bmt. Kelly 28 Silsbee 0 Jasper 14 Silsbee 7 WOS 14 Silsbee 21 Bridge City 0

The Silsbee girls basketball team has been to Austin 3 times. Twice in a three year span when they had LaQuan Stallworth and Brandi McCain. Stallworth went on to star at Lousiana Tech when it was still a power and McCain was a star at Florida and then was drafted in the WNBA. To my knowledge, Orangefield has never made it to Austin.

I agree with all this Nos. But to clarify, Silsbee has gone to the state tourney 4 times, '72, '76,'83,'08. That's not but 1 or 2 less than what HJ and Ozen have gone. Kountze has gone 9 times. Actually, I lump Ozen in with the Hebert stats which would give them 3 more appearances plus 3 more state titles, but that's just me. Biggest difference is that Kountze, Ozen, and HJ have state championships. As for appearances though, the Tigers are not as far behind as some think. They are the only team in 3A in the last 4 years(which happens to be how long Silsbee has been in 3A) that has made the regional final 3 out of the 4 years. The other year was when they lost to WOS in the third round, who went on to Austin. I think the word "great" is in the eye of the beholder. Many interpretations of that.

AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The game that I am most looking forward to is on March 14, 2009 at 10am in the Frank Erwin Center in Austin when Silsbee takes the court for the state title. ;D -
WO-S vs. Bridge City Predictions?
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Venom33, I do believe that WOS is a little better than Silsbee, but to claim that the Stangs had an off night was the reason the game was so close and not the fact that it was Silsbee that the Stangs were playing against, is really getting old. I guess these last 3 years that these two teams have played each other were close because the Mustangs just so happen to have an off night, wow what a coincidence. : I will most definitely concede that Silsbee has (almost) had West Orange-Stark's number recently but I ask you why Silsbee hasn't been able to play as well against ALL of their other opponents. When was the last time Silsbee advanced further in the playoffs than WOS? I wish I knew that answer. It is frustrating. To answer your last question, in the last 10 years, Silsbee advanced further in '98, '99, and '01, and both teams went out in the same round in '04 and '06. WOS advanced farther in '00, '05, '07. Neither team made the playoffs in '02 and '03. So it would be '01 when the Tigers advanced further. After all this is said, I know your point, there is no question about it. -

This is probably the first and last time that the phrase "Big School" is used in any way shape or form involving HJ and HF. ;D -

There is a chance we will be able to broadcast this game. Stay tuned for more info later this week. -
I had a feeling that it would be a day game since Silsbee's homecoming dance is Saturday night at the high school. I will let everyone know later this week if we will broadcast this game. Stay tuned.

Thank you td, for that honest and very accurate statement. I have said all along that WOS is the better team, but please don't discredit Silsbee with these statements of the Stangs just having an "off" night. It has everything to do with what Silsbee did on the field, they were the cause of the Mustangs poor play. -

Does anyone know if this will be a Saturday day game or night game? I figure it to be played on Saturday since Silsbee has a home game this Friday and Kountze has to use Tiger Stadium as their home field because of storm damage. There would be a possibility of broadcasting this game since it is right here in my hometown.

WO-S vs. Bridge City Predictions?

I agree that BC defense played better in the second half but it was more of Silsbee's offensive ineptness, bad snaps, and costly penalties that kept them from doing anything productive in the second half, not so much the Card defense. I agree, the Cards showed alot of grit and determination in that second half. BTW, if BC plays as well or even better than what they did in the second half last night, WOS still wins this one by 4 td's. BC 7 WOS 44 -
This will be Silsbee's homecoming, let the predictions, and not assumptions (that's for some Raider fans ;D) begin. Orangefield 7 Silsbee 28

I do not know the full story, but I've been told it was disciplinary. He is not injured. Good thing he is not injured. Let's hope he gets his act together. -

What was the reason for WOS's #1 runningback Garrett not playing? -
What makes you think the Tigers were better last year than this year? Or is it that you would like it for Silsbee to have been better last year than this year just so it could make the Horns look better last year and to give you some hope for this year?

This has got to be UNLV's greatest post ever. The $1 billion hush money is an excellant idea. Bluedove, care to answer any of UNLV's questions. -
First of all, ask sislbee? The only reason that Silsbee lost is bc their QB is not smart enough to kneel the ball. I promise that won't happen. I take offense to you saying that. I don't think it's right for you to question Jeremy's intelligence based on that one play. I think you'll find out soon enough just how "unintelligent" Silsbee's QB is when the Tigers face the Horns. It'll be a real shame when HF loses to that "kind" of team. BTW, WOS takes this one with ease. WOS 42 HF 12 Now let's not get our PANTIES IN A KNOT. I was just stating that in that kind of situation, the QB (central brain of the offense) should be a little bit more focused on what he is doing. I feel sorry for the Tigers knowing that they would have beat A TEAM THAT HAS NEVER LOST A 3A DISTRICT GAME, if the QB was thinking about what he needed to do. You can keep trying to explain away your comment but you made a direct reference to the intelligence of the Silsbee quarterback without knowing what you were talking about. Remember your kneel comment? Well it was the kneel down that we did not want. So you could not have been up on play. You have either never been an athlete, never been in the heat of a critical game situation or have never been 16 or 17 years old. This could have happened to anyone. It just so happened to a good young athlete and a good young man. It would be best if you just apologized to the young man and quit with the explanations that don't hold up. First of all, I meant to say spike instead of kneel. (I guess I wasn't focused) Second of all, I am 18 so I guess by the traditional system I HAVE been "16 or 17 years old". Third of all, I have been in the "heat of a critical game situation". Remember last week? Bobcats-Longhorns? Doesn't that ring a bell. H-F What position you play? Doesn't matter Does it? Why doesn't it matter? You "say" you were in the "heat" of a critical game, just wondering what position you played?

OK, you predict this 20-4A race if you're so smart

Just curious, In your playoff scenario, You are assuming Lumberton looses to Nederland & PNG?? And furthermore you ASSume that PNG beats Ozen, Vidor, & Central?? You know what they say about assuming stuff. No I never ASSumed anything. I predicted as the title says. You Lumberton fans are so sensitive! Assume - to take to be true without proof. Predict - to foretell something; prophesy. Raiders will win the district and will never lose another game...Ever. Becasue their fans take it to be true without proof! : Get over yourselves. You had one very good season, not great, but very good and you get your panties in a wad if someone doesn't pick your beloved Raiders to win it all! I love this. Great comeback!! -

I am glad to see that you can hang your hat on something that happened last year TigerDad, I agree with you 100% that what happened last year means absolutely nothing this year, but usually when, say in college, a team wins a big game, does that constitute a "year of bragging rights" until the two meet again when redemtion can be taken?? Let those that choose to gloat about last year have their scoreboard victory for just a few more weeks, but don't let it get you worked up, your Tigers will get their shot. BTW, has it been raining down that way by any chance? ;D Down which way?
