  1. It looks as so most folks have Nederland favored this week over Central. Therefore that would be my upset special, as I am picking Central over Nederland. (it's not considered an upset to me as I picked Central to win district this year ;D)
  2. I don't think that would be considered an upset or at least not much of one.
  3. 1. Nederland @ Central 2. West Hardin @ High Island 3. Dayton @ Barbers Hill 4. Baytown Lee @ West Brook 5. PA Memorial @ Sterling 6. PNG @ Vidor 7. Ozen @ Lumberton 8. LCM @ Livingston 9. Huntington @ Jasper 10. WOS @ Hamshire Fannett 11. Silsbee @ Bridge City 12. Hardin Jefferson @ Orangfield 13. Hemphill @ Kirbyville 14. San Augustine @ Newton 15. Woodville @ Shelbyville 16. 4. Thanks for the props, WOS87. Nice to here that coming from a Stang fan. Since these two teams dropped down to 3A, I thought the Tigers matched up well against the Mustangs. To me it's just been that WOS has made one or two more plays each game that's gotten them the win. Maybe except for this last one, where it took a major blunder by the Tigers at the end of regulation to allow the Mustangs to sneak out of there with a win. I am not so sure about the Navasota thing, we'll have to play our very best to pull that one out. I will say that I believe that the rest of our district opponents better look out, there's some angry Tigers on the prowl.
  5. He may not call all the plays, but I bet he backs up all of them. The final decision goes through him.
  6. I think it's a bit early to be putting Coach C in with the Hooks, Neumans and the Barbays. Give him a few more years and then I think it would be a fair assessment. Right now, it's okay to overlook him.
  7. Correct. Of the 4 teams that qualify for the playoffs, you take the two largest enrollments of those four go Div.1, the two smallest of those four go Div.2. That's for 5A and 4A. For 3A and below, of the three teams that qualify, the largest enrollment of the three goes Div.1 and the other two go Div.2. In either case, it doesn't matter how they finish as to what division they play in.
  8. To me this whole thread is senseless. Comparing games is just plain stupid. It's all about the matchups. Some teams just have an advantage over others. Contrast of styles, the type of team, type of athletes, whatever you want to call it. Some teams just match up better and some teams don't.
  9. Why wouldn't he be?
  10. Hey skip, just what do you mean by "the mustangs just let them"?
  11. I am starting to wonder about that. : ;D
  12. Kind of agree with you, Lazeek. Livingston should be ahead of PNG after beating the Indians by 20 points. No fluke win there and the Lions are 2-1 in district.
  13. If we are going to do that, then I say Silsbee's entire defense. Held WOS to their lowest offensive output both yards(228) and points 14(7 of that in OT) so far this season. I am also willing to bet that will be their lowest totals for the whole season, including the playoffs. WOS was averaging 36 points and 380 yards of offense coming into that game.
  14. I'll nominate Silsbee strong safety Josh James again. After recording 17 tackles, with 11 of them unassisted last week against Jasper, he promptly trumped that with 18 tackles, 14 unassisted against WOS. Mustang fans would have to agree, Silsbee's #20 was all over the place.
  15. I still believe in the end it will be: 1. WOS 2. Silsbee 3. HF Though HJ has now gotten my attention, could replace HF in the third spot.
  16. I believe that to be a very fair and honest assessment. Kudos to you WOS92.
  17. UIL has already approved him to play this season!!!! ;D Lazeek, please tell me what this is all about. What was the deal with Benard? Why did the coaches have to vote on him playing? Why was the UIL involved?
  18. Great observation there WOS92. The Stangs did struggle with the snaps all night, at times really disrupted the play. Unlike the Tigers, who had their best game all season at snapping the ball. We really have struggled with that coming into that game, cost us two losses IMO.
  19. WRONG. Bailey only had 19 yards rushing against Silsbee. What they may have saw was the fact that Silsbee was vulnerable to the inside run. Diboll and Jasper(with their runningbacks) hurt us some inside, but never outside or with the qb's running.
  20. Here we go with that same old crap again. : The last three games that these two teams have played it has been a dog fight. Yet, some of you Mustang fans, and I repeat SOME, can't accept the fact that just maybe Silsbee was just that tough an opponent. You want to blame the coaches, the refs, or the elements, for the Stangs poor play and not give credit to the Tigers. WOS has been blowing people out and everyone seemed to be happy with the playcalling then. Now a close game comes along which just happens to be against a team that has played you close every game the last 3 years, and you want to cry about the coaches. Why can't it be the fact that Silsbee's defense just played their butts off like they have the last two times they played WOS and leave it at that? From what I saw from our broadcast booth was the Tigers were unable to defend the inside run, but was able to take away the outside and that had to be the best game our secondary has played all season. Their coverage was excellant. The middle was not that open as some of you have stated. In fact Silsbee picked off one across the middle and should have had another. See that's the problem I have with SOME of you Mustang fans in that you never seem to give the other team credit when you lose or in this case win a very close game. You cry about the playcalling or something else othe than the other team playing well. It looks to me that the common denominator for WOS in these close games was not the playcalling but the fact that it was Silsbee playing. I am still waiting to make my official post on the game when I can talk to the Silsbee coaches about that last play in regulation. I will post it soon.
  21. I am going to hold off making my after game post until I speak with some Tiger coaches as to what really happened on that last play of regulation. We all know Johnson took the knee, but why? From our broadcast booth, there seemed to be a lot of confusion both on the field and sideline. I will say this, this lost will hurt for a long time. :'(
  22. District 21-3a opens up play with the marquee match up of the district, Silsbee Tigers taking on the Mustangs of West Orange-Stark at Dan R. Hooks Stadium. This game could very well determine the district champ in just the first game as most experts have these two teams as the top in 21-3A. Silsbee has given WOS fits in the two years they have been in this district together, but the Stangs have came out on top both times, 20-13 in '06 and 17-6 in '07. No other team has even come close to knocking off the Mustangs, which they will try to keep the district win streak alive starting tonight. You can catch all the action right here with the voices of Tiger football, play-by-play man Mike Sanchez(AggiesAreWe) and color man Wayne Brasher(tigersvoice). Pregame will start at 7:10 with kickoff at 7:30. 21-3A football ready for lift off!!!! Catch it here tonight!!!

  24. Is Armstrong a freshman? One of the announcers was raving last week about some freshman Jasper running back and I know Ellis is not a freshman. Armstrong is a sophomore and Ellis is a Senior Thanks. That rules him out. But that is still good for Jasper. Two more years of playing time! So, is Jasper playing a freshman, or perhaps it was a Silsbee defensive player? Or I just totally misunderstood.... No Sir, No freshmans on Jasper varsity unknown about Silsbee Silsbee's starting inside linebacker is a freshman.
  25. Thanks...I might have known this if it weren't for not having cable for what has it been nearly a month since Ike? Lee Corso has been on ESPN's College Gameday for more than the last month. He's been doing it for the last 10-15 years. Where have you been? ???
