  1. The way to beat the Raiders is through the air.... Secondary lost a lot from last year. Just my observations from last week. Regardless... Good luck to the Raiders. So I take it that you saw HF's passing game. I agree that is the way you beat Lumberton this year, but you do realize, the Longhorns run the ball 80% of the time, regardless who they play. You might want to consider that next time. ;D
  2. Since when does Hamshire-Fannett have a passing game? I believe this particular prediction was made with the heart, not the head. Get over the Lumberton thing, Dayton fans. Jeez! BTW, I do think HF can win this game, but they won't do it passing the ball. :
  3. If you'll listen to our preview show tonight, you'll hear that I am picking them to finish second in district behind Dayton.
  4. The fact of the matter is this, any coach, including Coach Stewert, will take a "fluke" win in a real game over dominating someone in a scrimmage. You are really kidding yourself if you think you get redemption for losing a real game by "winning" a scrimmage. This year is this year, last year is last. Particularly when one team loses 80% of their team to graduation and the other team practically gets their team whole team back, specially their fantastic QB that they did not have last year. Now, with that said, I strongly believed that at the end of the season last year, Dayton was by far the better team, they played like it. But, when these two met, Lumberton came away with the victory, and that's all that matters when you are just comparing the two. Now, both sides, GET OVER IT, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!
  5. A&M coaches dont seem to like playoff success Mike ;D ;D ;D ;D [/quote First a couple of mistakes in your post, Gabe. One, it would be COACH, not coaches, and two, what playoffs? Did I miss something and the NCAA finally get something right and rid of the BCS and get a playoff system? ;D ;D Fran hated bowls, obviously.
  6. So Coach Brooks wants longer playoff runs. Well, not knocking Coach Brooks (but, then again, maybe I am) isn't that what all coaches want. : ;D
  7. ??? Im lost I am glad you are lost Gabe, cause that makes two of us. What questions, what world series, what 14 year old?????? BTW, this thread is about high school football, just so you would know.
  8. Correction. You'll learn to LOVE it!! That's nothing to be down about. ;D
  9. So you are going with Nederlands fight song also? Yes, we Tigers were nice enough to let them use it too.
  10. I definetly see Silsbee's Ang Green on ESPN in the NCAA Women's tourney now!!!
  11. In my humble opinion( yea right ), I have to go with the Silsbee Tiger fight song, a.k.a the Aggie War Hymn. Love it, live it!!
  12. Gabe and I are back!!! We will be doing our high school preview show tonight here on the site at 9:30. We will be going over all our local districts plus include some teams that have gone to other districts. This is the start of our weekly show that Gabe and I will be doing for the next 8-9 months. There will be a thread provided later with the link to listen in. Mike Sanchez, Setxsports.com Broadcaster
  13. I know this maybe changing the subject and probably should be addressed in the NFL forum, but just what do you mean by "running the table"? Are you saying the Cowgirls will go undefeated in the NFC? If so, put your money where your mouth is. I am game.
  14. No way Silsbee has beaten Kirbyville that many times. It is 3-1 You need to look at WOS87's history threads. You'll see. I also have some data myself that puts Silsbee at 10-1 all time against Kirbyville. I figure you to be a young'en and would only remember these last 4 games since Silsbee dropped down to 3A.
  15. Softball was a waste of time. :
  16. Ole Jack and Kirbyville seem to be really hanging their hat on that 1 point-first ever in history- win over Silsbee. : If I am not mistaken, I think the Tigers are 10-1 against the Mildcats all time.
  17. I had heard he was 18 already. Seems logical now. Good luck Dominick.
  18. I do have a question, who is KFDM Coop's staff? I thought this was jdawg03's site and I work for him. ;D But I do support Coop, though.
  19. We had 153 members join the site in the last week, the second best 1 week total in the history of the site. Only Oct. 9-16 2007 had a better total with 161. Over the last 10 days we are averaging about 22 registrations a day. This kind of pace could help us top 10,000 members by year's end. Thanks for all your support!!! And tell your friends!! ;D
  20. Regardless of the field condition, I hope WOS fans dodn't make excuses. As long as both teams play on the same field then it's fair. We had a few fans make excuses last year about the LCM game. I hope that doesn't happen this year. If you win by 1 or 100 you still only get 1 win. Couldn't have said this better myself. Good post, td.
  21. Diboll 27 Kirbyville 20
  22. What's the matter Coop? You got something against my Silsbee Tigers. I see you put area teams in bold but not my Tigers. Well at least not in the state polls. I'll fix it for you.
  23. The same can't be said for Nederland's field. It is a mess. I don't see it being in good shape for Friday night's game.
  24. I agree with you. I am not saying that they are preparing to win a scrimmage, I know they don't watch films and scout the other team. I'm saying that the outcome is important. Not on your record, but on how your team has progressed. If it were just practice then why go thru the trouble of arranging and playing them in all kinds of conditions like we have the last few weeks. If the outcome doesn't matter, then why do it at all? Why risk having players injured? It's because coaches need to see how they stack up against someone else and how they perform against that team matters, it matters a lot. See Gasilla, this is what I have been talking about all along. It matters how the team performs, not if they "win" or "lose" the scrimmage. I said a long time ago there are alot of semantics involved here... win, lose, outperform, underperform, what's the difference? It's the same thing. Just like people saying a scrimmage is just practice... BS... you are playing a game, or competing against another team where the result is tracked and yes, I've not seen a single scrimmage so far where no one kept score. Why? Because that is how you track success (or outperforming or underperforming if you like). When you keep score, there is a winner and a loser. I've never heard of someone scoring less points and tying or winning, have you? The result does matter whether it counts toward your record or not, it shows where you are at, at this point. It does not mean that you are going to have a bad season, just that you aren't as good as the team you are playing at that point. Again, that's the whole reason for them, to see how you stack up against the competition. All of that has nothing to do with my post to Stangchain, she was saying that the WOS coaches do not game plan to win a scrimmage, and they don't, but whether they win or lose that scrimmage is important to them. I will assume that you are speaking for yourself on this matter, Gasilla, and not for the WOS coaches. I find it hard to believe that the Mustang coaches consider "winning" a scrimmage the most important over how well or poor they perform in that scrimmage. An example being for the Mustangs starters to not score on another teams 1st team, the Chain Gang defense give up 2 td's, but WOS score 4 td's on the other team's complete 2nd and 3rd teams, therefore "winning" the scrimmage.(assuming you are right about the Mustangs not having a 2nd team, just some reserve players) p.s. I think this proverbial dead horse(mustang) ;D, is still kicking. That's why I am still beating it. ;D Of course, this is my opinion, just as yours, is yours. I've never polled our coaches about how they feel particularly about scrimmages, but I did play for a couple of them so I DO have a clue. As for scoring against second and third teams, I can only tell you that I've been to every scrimmage we have had in the last 4 or 5 years and, in that span, I have not seen another team put in a second or third team. I've seen a back up or two, but never an entire platoon (as I've said before). Friday, against vidor, they kept their first team in the entire game with some subs rotating in here and there (just like they would in a real game). It was that way for BOTH of us because BOTH teams wanted to WIN. I think the problem here is that your not very realistic on how these things work. Well I have been to many a scrimmage myself, mostly Silsbee. But I have seen my Tigers 2 platoon for many years. I went to the Jasper/Nederland scrimmage and for the most part, both teams had 1st and 2nd teams. I admit that they may not have been complete 11 different players, but I saw at least 8-10 different players going from 1st to 2nd team. Just because WOS doesn't have enough to 2 platoon, don't assume that others don't do it in scrimmage games.
