Where has anyone stated anything about 6 days? I understood it to be 5 days. Lumberton scrimmaged on Monday, the 5th day would be Saturday. BTW, it's just a scrimmage, guys. :

This scrimmage will be held in Dayton on Saturday morning. Due to Lumberton having to scrimmage Monday, UIL rules will not allow them to scrimmage till Saturday. Also with the rain that is expected over the next couple of days, it was decided to utilize the turf field in Dayton.

Lopez isn't the only one who will miss the early part of basketball season. Shannon Robinson is playing football this year for Silsbee. He hasn't played since 8th grade but has really impressed the coaches with how quick he has picked up the game. He will be playing reciever.

I went to this scrimmage. It ended in a 1-1 tie. Newton had trouble with their passing game. They should get better. Center wasn't that good.

How about head to head score last year, since you are talking about last year. Some of you Dayton fans just need to let it go. You are talking about last year. This is 2008, get over it for the last time. We know you are bitter, but come on man! At the end of the day all that matters for last year is 8-7! Stop being the HATERS that you are. This doesn't go for all Dayton fans as I do know there are some nice ones that do come on here. Give me a break, Lumberton has no room to talk when it comes to the type of fans on this forum. Anyway, we lost last year that is that, I don't like it but it is a done deal. Dayton and Lumberton are 1-1 over the last 2 years and the combined scores are Lumberton 15 - Dayton 62. ;D That doesn't hold much water. A win is a win, be it by 1 point or 101 points. I much would rather win every game by one, than win some of the time by 50 and lose the others by 1.

Losing Coach Stapert and both Whittakers, one from graduation, the other from transfering, will really hurt Spurger. I don't look for them to have the success that they had last year.

I am in agreement with how the polls were done. My only suggestion is to put Livingston into the mix.

EXACTLY!!!! If we are going to continue covering Jasper, we should continue covering Dayton. Actually, Dayton is closer to Beaumont than Jasper and the district that Jasper is playing in is considered East Texas, not Southeast Texas. Dayton's district has more Southeast Texas teams than Jasper's district. Jasper will be the only team in their district that we will cover where as we will cover at least three teams in Dayton's district. As for the rankings, I think they are good, I mean it's just preseason, won't really know anything until after a few weeks of playing. I have never liked preseason rankings anyway. Even the college polls, I have always thought they should start them 4 to 5 weeks into the season, but that's just me. Only change I would make on these is to include Livingston in the big school poll, either somewhere in the top 10 or in the honorable mention spot.

Okay, just got the lowdown with the Silsbee scrimmage for Saturday the 16th. It will be a 3 way scrimmage with Silsbee, Nederland and Kelly at Kelly. Scrimmage will start roughly at 9am Saturday morning. This straight from the coaches mouth.

Lamar assistant football coach Craig McGallion is all too familiar with Donnie Little. Craig was a soph. starting linebacker for Silsbee when the Tigers went up against the Donnie Little led Dickinson Gators in the state semi finals in 1977 in the Astrodome. Donnie practically beat Silsbee by himself that night scoring both Gator td's, one on a 75 yard punt return, beating the Tigers 12-0 on their way to a state title that year. Dickinson beat Brownwood the next week for the title 41-20. Craig will tell you the Tigers had their chances that night, fumbling 3 times inside the Gator 10 yard line, once at the goalline, but could not answer Mr. Little. Well Craig, if we can't beat'em, might as well join'em.
