Return of football at Lamar would be benefit to many
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Getting R.C. Slocum as Lamar's head coach is not that big a stretch. That, IMO, would be a great start. But, it's all about the dollars. -
Silsbee and Lumberton Scrimmage/Predictions
AggiesAreWe replied to STiger85's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That's correct, Thursday night in Silsbee. I was told it will be a game type scrimmage. With Silsbee hosting all three of their scrimmages and getting 6 home games this season instead of the usual 5, we as fans should be plenty spoiled by the season's end. -
How good will Silsbee be in 07?

I agree, and I'm a Tiger fan. -
Best individual performance you've witnessed

Darrel McArthur of Silsbee went off on Port Arthur TJ in his senior year opening game of the season. Darrel score 54 points that night, out scoring TJ that night by himself, 54-52. Tigers won 70-52. -
My ideal offense? Easy, one that scores everytime they touch the ball. Wishbone, wingT, spread, I, pro set, run and shoot, run and gun......... don't matter how, just score. It's kinda like golf. You top your drive, shank your aproach shot, chilidip your chip shot, then skull your next chip shot but it hits the flagstick and drops in for a par. You don't see that on the scorecard, just the number 4 for par. The scoreboard says it all.

Well this Silsbee folk thinks that Jasper won't make it. I still think they are a year away. -

Silsbee's Donovan Harris, a 1st team all district reciever and defending state champ in 110 meter hurdles, was cleared to play this week by his doctors. Harris was in a terrible head-on car wreck this summer that gave him a severe concussion. Donovan started practicing this week, but it is not known if he will participate in this week's scrimmage. He was thought that he wouldn't be back till about the 4th game of the season but now he'll be ready for the Tiger's opener against Houston Sterling Sept. 7. Great to have this talented player back on the field.

Like the song says, " teach your children well". Lead by example, not by mouth. And above all, make this experience for them fun.

He'll be playing linebacker real soon. With his frame( '6"5, 230 ) he'll get bigger weight wise and be too big to play safety. I look for him to be another great Wrecking Crew linebacker.

Update on Mosley at North Texas

Glad to here it too. But you know that this thread is just begging for patitan to ruin. -
This is not a knock on WOS, but if I'm the AD at PNG or Nederland, I keep playing the Brenham's and LaMarque's at Reliant any chance I can. That's just too good of exposure to pass up.

You are right Jake, Nederland pretty much manhandled Jasper in that scrimmage last year. I remember that because the week before, Silsbee scrimmaged Nederland and out scored the Bulldogs 1-0. I started wondering how good Jasper would be after that scrimmage with Nederland, I find out as the season went on, not too good.

Dravannti didn't look too good against Silsbee last Saturday night. Silsbee's quarterback made him look silly on a few occasions. He never really made an impact at all during the entire scrimmage. He has great size but I wasn't too impressed with his speed. Like an earlier post had mentioned, he may have been just going through the motions, who knows.

Silsbee and Nederland tied 2-2 The Tigers ran multiple offensive sets which impressed me. Ran some veer, some spread and some pro set. The sophmore qb for Silsbee really has some potential to be a great one. Great speed, size and very good arm. He ran past Dravannti on several occasions. The Tigers have some quick hard running backs like they always have, but the addition of a good throwing qb with speed will be very interesting to watch. Silsbee still has great size and experience on the o-line but the backfield and recivers are young, which means they look great on some plays and bad on others till they get more seasoned. The qb and a rb are sophmores and the other rb is a junior. Still got some learning to do. The recieving core is okay, got a couple of burners, but they will be better when Donovan Harris returns. All in all, the offense looked good to be so young and with running different sets. The Tiger defense looked okay, made some good plays but also looked bad at times. Nederland ran a lot of screens in the new spread offense that Silsbee had a hard time defending. The Tigers did come up with 3 interceptions though with one of those for sure returned for a td if it were a real game. Nederland definetly had the size advantage on our defense. The Tigers are small on defense but have good speed. I think both teams came away from this scrimmage with some positives. No team dominated the other in this scrimmage. Very evenly played. I will say this, if they would have played a 4 quarter live game tonight, Nederland probably comes away with the victory, but in a close one.
