I was at the game last year. Anahuac moved the ball well in the first half but Newton led 16-14 at half. Newton dialed up the pressure in 2nd half, sacking the freshman QB several times and picking him off twice. Made him make some rookie mistakes. I will be very interested in the progress this young man will have to make going from 3A ball to 5A ball as a soph. I think he has potential but I predict a rough season for him.

EC lost several seniors. 4 starters and 2 key reserves.

Astros are currently 8th in the American League in runs scored (out of 15 teams) and 3rd in runs allowed (out of 15 teams). They are projected to win 92 games and finish tied for 1st in the West. I agree that they will have to win the division to make playoffs (don't see a wild card coming out of the division). Astros are currently without 3 starting pitchers and 3 every day players. I like their chances and willing to wager 4 figures to show my confidence.

I say play as many sports as possible at the high school and under level. Can't get those memories back. I don't think "football only guys" quit other sports right at their senior seasons. It's done years before. I don't need to post my name. Everyone knows me. lol

Now that I am close enough to legal sports betting (Nugget, Shoe) and using Draft Kings and Ceasars, I no longer use a local book so not too concerned with my texts. Before was an issue. I knew there was always some surveillance but never knew it was to that degree.

I read where one of the bets was a very large amount. Wonder just how big the bet was. With many states making it legal for sports betting, had to expect this to happen eventually. Reading some of this story also shows just how much the govt. has eyes on it.

Just got word that both schools superintendents agreed to remove each other from their schedules. This was solely based on the recent incident.

Jasper has dropped Newton from their football schedule for next year. Newton is now looking for a week 3 opponent, Sept. 8 Not sure what the reason for Jasper to do this in the middle of a realignment but one has to think it could stem from the recent shooting.

There would be concern getting those kids to the school on Friday for the games. Most coaches like the fact that the kids are at school already that day.
