The first issue West Brook has is that the young man has yet to establish residency within the Silsbee school district.

Not according to West Brook admins and their 30 page file on the subject.

Also, since 2005, one could say the Region III championship goes thru Silsbee. Meaning either Silsbee won the region or someone had to beat Silsbee to win the region. Here is the regional champ from 2005: 2005 Diboll (beat Silsbee in final) 2006 WO-S (beat Silsbee in regional quarters) 2007 Hardin-Jefferson (beat Silsbee in final) 2008 Silsbee 2009 Hardin-Jefferson (Silsbee lost to Jasper in semis) 2010 Silsbee 2011 Mexia (Silsbee lost to Sealy in Area) 2012 La Vega (beat Silsbee in final) 2013 Yates (beat Silsbee in regional quarters) 2014 Yates (beat Silsbee in regional quarters) 2015 Houston Sterling (beat Silsbee in final) 2016 Silsbee 2017 Silsbee 2018 Silsbee 2019 Yates (beat Silsbee in final) 2020 Yates (Silsbee lost to Like Waxahachie in semis) 2021 Huffman (beat Silsbee in final) 2022 Silsbee So in the 18 year span, only 2009, 2011 and 2020 champs were the only ones who did not have to beat Silsbee in the playoffs. The other 15 seasons either Silsbee won it (6 times) lost in the finals (6 times) or lost to the eventual regional champ earlier in playoffs. NOTE: in 2009, Silsbee did beat Hardin-Jefferson 2 out of 3 games that season. Split in district and won seed game.

Has to play JV. That's the QB that transferred. Was not signed off on. West Brook is fighting the transfer.

I had a coach ask me how many games has Silsbee won in the playoffs the last several years and got me to wondering myself. In the last 8 seasons, Silsbee has won 40 playoff games. That's averaging 5 wins a playoff season. Here is the last 8 seasons: 2015 Regional finals (4-1) 2016 State finals (6-1) 2017 State Champs (7-0) 2018 State Champs (7-0) 2019 Regional finals (4-1) 2020 Regional semis (3-1) 2021 Regional finals (4-1) 2022 State semis (5-1) That's 7 regional final appearances in 8 seasons. 4 Regional champs 4 state tourney appearances 2 state championships 1 runnerup I think one would have to go back to the Port Arthur Lincoln days of the 80's and 90's to come up with a better playoff run here locally. If you go back to 2005, Silsbee has reached the regional finals 12 times in that 18 year span, winning the region 6 times. Made the regional tournament in 14 of those 18 seasons. Pretty phenomenal two decade run so far for Silsbee.

Still there

Since both Furr and Washington added a PG to their rosters for this season, I would probably be a little more conservative than those numbers. Silsbee beat Furr last year by 11. I would have Silsbee favored this year by 7. Silsbee beat Washington by 6. I would have Silsbee favored by 4.

Yes, it was a district game. Getting the #1 seed out that district is important. Won't see Silsbee until regional final.

Silsbee leads the series 4-3 over Yates. All of the games have been in the playoffs. -
I still say it's Washington. Washington played without their PG Monday.
-
Or Furr. Furr just beat Washington Monday.
-
Probably 3rd best, maybe even 4th best in their district.

Doesn't excuse the other times HISD has canceled games with no real intention of playing the game. Believe me, this has happened a lot with those schools. -

Don't know. I am waiting on the tourney info. -
If I am a high school basketball coach in this area, I would not waste my time scheduling any Houston ISD school. They are as unprofessional as they come. Two games were canceled this week, one without any notice. Houston Yates was scheduled to play at Little Cypress-Mauriceville today but called and canceled the game on Monday. Then, without notice, Houston Furr no showed for their game last night at West Orange-Stark. This is not the first time (nor will it be the last) that a Houston ISD school pulled this unprofessional move. In regards to the Yates/LC-M game, LC-M had already played at Yates the last two seasons. All Coach Jeffcoat was wanting was a return game. When I saw the game on the schedule and the date that it was to be played (last day to play before Christmas break) first thing I thought was Yates backing out of the game. When I got the phone call from Coach Jeffcoat Monday, I was not surprised. There was some excuse given but IMO, the reason for Yates canceling was more about not being able to afford losing to a team like LC-M, which they would have. Furr not even showing and not calling WO-S to cancel the game is as unprofessional as it gets. Decisions like this is why HISD is looked down upon by others in the state. This all comes from the top (HISD admins). Schools like LC-M and WO-S simply don't matter to them and could careless about any ramifications. As far as I am concerned, I hope no area school ever schedules a Houston ISD school. Simply not worth the potential aggravation of losing a scheduled game.
