No doubt the Tigers will be loaded once again, and this years experience will be valuable. Interestingly a rematch down the road with Diboll is very possible. The Jacks will lose 4 senior starters, but will return 5, 2 subs that logged significant playing time, and 2 of their top 3 pitchers. Of course the usual suspects like Bridge City, Hudson, etc. will all be trying to prevent that from happening, but the numbers certainly look good for both teams. I will say though that Huffman looked to be playing a lot of underclassman in the Diboll series. Just think, only about 7 more months until it all starts again!

Powell, Hartman and Griffin match up well with Supak and Vinalek of LaGrange. Both teams are solid defense, Tigers hit the ball, imo, a little better 1-9.
I thought there were too many errors from both Silsbee and Diboll during this last series, so Silsbee needs to tighten that up a bit.
I agree about the errors. Way too many by both teams this past weekend. On a personal note I would have liked to have seen Diboll get the chance to get a rematch with LaGrange, but since they didn't I hope Silsbee can pull it off. Good luck to the Tigers. -
Get a 6-2 win over Sinton

I thought it was a heck of a ballgame. All of Silsbee's runs were unearned, and came after Diboll made an error that should have ended the inning. I thought Powell pitched a great game, but the truth is his true success was early in the game when the Jacks chased many off speed pitches out of the strike zone. As the game progressed the Diboll hitters got more disciplined and begin to wait for the fast ball as the off speed was rarely thrown for strike. That is when they started having success. The Tigers are more than capable of winning two, just as Diboll is more than able to close it out, and head to Austin as well. It should be a heck of a game (or two) at Rice. I have said it from day one of the playoffs that Diboll's playoff experience with this group of seniors will make the difference. I think it did on Thursday, and will again on Saturday, but if it goes to the third game, anything can happen. It will be fun.

Diboll vs Silsbee Regional Final

That was a heck of a basketball game held at Sam Houston as I recall. That Diboll team was lead by Jermichael Finley of UT and Green Bay Packer fame. They beat Silsbee 58-55, and then lost to Graham in Austin. -
Yes its well worth the drive for the young men to get to play on fields like this. Not every young man gets the oportunity to get this far in the playoffs. so do it up while they are here. And hopefully go the distance. It has been fun.
In talking with coach Trotter on Sunday he said that both coaches from both schools agreed that the boys deserved to play on great fields like UH and Rice. They also agreed that they should have the chance to enjoy it as long as possible with a 2 out of 3 series. I know that everyone will be pulling for their own team as expected, and it's a shame that it will end for one of them, but whoever wins will represent Region 3 well. Yes, I hope it's the Jacks, and my nephew who graduated from Silsbee hopes its the Tigers! I expect a great series.

Diboll vs Silsbee Regional Final

The conversation was "factual" as I heard it with my own ears. As for the sources I won't disclose as they were school officials. As for the information, I am just telling you what was said. Take it or leave it. i could care less. As for Silsbee agreeing to a 2 of 3 series, it is possible they changed their mind, is it not? -
Diboll vs Silsbee Regional Final

Diboll has knocked off #7 Hudson in 1, and #8 Caldwell in three after losing game one. They then knocked off Hargrove in two, which beat BC, who knocked off the #1 Sweeny team. Throw in a two game sweep of a scrappy Palestine team and I think that should confirm that they are "tested." I am not trying to chip anybody off, but I am not sure that the Tigers have as good of a playoff resume. -
Diboll vs Silsbee Regional Final

I Overheard a conversation between very credible sources at the game today that said Silsbee wants 1, Diboll wants best of 3. It will come down to the flip. For Diboll, It is the first time to reach a regional final in this era of baseball. In the earlier game this season in Silsbee, Diboll was without 3 current starters due to basketball. Also heard that the game will be played at either Rice, U of H or Sam Houston, but not sure which one at this time. Either 1 or 2 of 3 will be a heck game/series. I would expect both to play hard, and the winner will represent the region well. -
The interesting thing for Diboll is that the boys that really produced big time for them against Huffman were all of the underclassman. Mostly sophomores. Sergio Castillo, the pitcher, is a senior and true to form this season seems to get stronger as the game goes on. He has pitched at the varsity level since his freshman year and his playoff experience showed big time last night. Diboll never panicked, and It was a well played game for both teams. Today should be no different. Trotter does have the program going in the right direction.

After replaying that scene in my mind you are absolutely correct about the base runner situation, and true it was all hypothetical anyway. What is not is the fact that you dominated Carthage. You didn't. As for rose colored glasses you are sadly mistaken. I own businesses in Lufkin and Silsbee. I pay taxes to the school district there, and I support them through advertising, so truthfully I pulled for the Tigers, but I watched a hard fought game that could have gone either way right up to the very last catch. To deny that only confirms who would be wearing the rosé colored glasses.

I watched the game at AC last night. I wouldn't say that Silsbee "owned" Carthage at all. Carthage was very charitable with some bonehead plays that cost them. I will say that Silsbee played well, and except for one inning, so did Carthage. The catch the young man in CF made was worthy of ESPN, and ultimately broke Carthage's back! The truth is, if that catch isn't made Carthage scores two and has the tying run at third with one out. BUT, he DID make the catch, and now Silsbee advances. If they play like they did last night they can make it to Austin, but both Huffman and/or Diboll will be a worthy opponent. To think any different is foolishness, and "homer" type of thinking.

......and they say the same thing no matter who Diboll plays.
