This is a good one! United should be ok against Jersey Village, the twin guards have graduated. Now Desoto or "DesotU" as they are called will be a true test. They are the Fab 5 of high school girls basketball. 2 6'4 sophomores that are high major D1 prospects a 6'2 sophomore that is ESPN ranked #17 in the country and about 4 guards that can fill it up. They lost in the 6A championship game in a thriller, but returned everyone. Their roster has about 8 to 10 D1 prospects on it therefore the name "DesotoU". I would love to come check out this tournament, please post dates and times.

Region III regional rankings
$$Buckets$$ replied to nick_royreport's topic in High School Girls Basketball
To me this will be the most competitive region. Hightower, Foster, Manvel and Shadow Creek are all in the same district! Barbers Hill will be interesting to watch with the new coach (Coach Harris from Manvel). Its good to see PN-G in the mix in this region, they have definitely come a long way and will be led by a guard that can flat out score the basketball! Good luck ladies! -
Region III regional rankings
$$Buckets$$ replied to nick_royreport's topic in High School Girls Basketball
I think this is pretty accurate. I would rank Houston Westside in front of Pearland tho. Pearland has an elite Mississippi State commit but their guard play will be questionable. BU has the chance to really shock the region, I think that Summer Creek and Cypress Creek will be a challenge for them. Cypress Creek will have the best back court in the area hands down, and Summer Creek has a very athletic front court. BU just gotta get it done! -

I wish United would do this! -
Im with you, I would love to see a HJ vs United matchup! United should be a favorite to make it to regionals. The only teams in their region to worry about would be Cy Creek, Houston Westside and maybe Atascocita or Summer Creek. This tougher schedule will prepare them for it.
-
They should be fun to watch. Would love to see them tackle a tougher pre district schedule tho to prepare them. I think that caught up with them a little last year down the line.

Well the season is rapidly approaching! Would love to hear some early predictions. I think this should be a very fun year. Will it be HJ and Woodville and then everyone else? (HJ and Woodville will be playing against each other at HJ on Nov 19th by the way) Will Jasper make a strong run? How will United fair now that their bigs have graduated? How good will West Brook be with a new coach and a very strong Freshman guard joining them? Now that PNG has tasted the playoffs will they be poised for a deeper run this year? Will Lumberton make the playoffs this year after a hard fought try last season? How will Silsbee bounce back after losing in the regional semi final? Will Legacy continue in their winning ways? There are many good schools in the area who will give it their all. Lets hear your predictions!!

Yes I did forget about Gayla Joseph! She is a energetic defender and does a very good job distributing and running the show. United will be fun to watch! -

The contract for the Alamo Dome was up this year and the state tournament could be in a new location next year. Does anyone have an idea of where the new location would be? Im hearing either Dallas or Houston and Im hearing they are looking at smaller venues then the Alamo Dome.

Robin Harmony - resigns from Lamar
$$Buckets$$ replied to Coach.Shu's topic in High School Girls Basketball
Im hearing from a very good source that Lamar's new coach will be the top assistant from Kansas that has a lot of ties in Texas for recruiting. If true this will be a very big time hire for Lamar! -
Would love to see Coach Trotter from Crosby over at West Brook, but the name I'm hearing is a former Ozen assistant and HJ alum. She would be a great fit also.

Sad but true that this goes on more than we would ever know. I even know of coaches texting parents of players with no shame trying to get them to come to their various schools smh. It also brings to light those certain AAU coaches who because they have had a string of top talent come thru their organization believe that they are NBA general managers and are bigger than the rules smh.

This was crazy! All started because a top player from Duncanville transferred to another school, and was denied eligibility by the UIL so the mother of the player blew the lid off the whole thing by throwing a "move-in" to Duncanville under the bus. Granted the "move-in" and the top player were AAU teammates, the "move-in" came up from San Antonio when her mother got a job with the school district lol. So the mother of the top player for Duncanville was not happy when UIL denied the player eligibility when she transferred so she told on everybody lol.

Beaumont United 39 Pearland 40/FINAL
$$Buckets$$ replied to Alpha Wolf's topic in High School Girls Basketball
United should get this one. This game really would have been fun to watch if Pearland’s 6’4 ESPN nationally ranked wing was playing, she is out with an injury. United’s pressure will be too much for Pearland -

Friday 2/15 Channelview High School 6pm Silsbee vs Yates 730pm Hardin Jefferson vs North Forest -
Based on whats in the region that they are in, I would give HJ a legitimate shot at making it to State. United is in a very tough region. Jersey Village, Cy Creek, Katy, and Atascocita all have a shot with Jersey Village being the favorite to make it out of the region.

Houston Madison vs Alvin Shadow Creek
$$Buckets$$ replied to OneChance's topic in High School Girls Basketball
Shadow Creek is pretty good! They have a relatively young team, they are just in a very tough district with Hightower (5A #5) Manvel (5A #4) and Richmond Foster (5A #17). They also have a very dynamic Freshman guard (R'Mani Taylor) who can flat out get buckets! They may "upset" a couple of teams. -
