Looking for EC to win this one but that just sets up a big game with Hardin in two weeks. So, what happens if EC wins tonight and EC and Hardin meet up in two weeks with records of 9-0 and 8-1. If Hardin wins that one, between the three everyone would have one district loss. Wonder what the tie breaker would be?? Anyone care to comment?

I am headed to Winnie. I think this is going to be a big one for the Bucs! I will be listening for scores too, like Hardin and Kountze. I think this district race is going to be a tight one. A win for EC sets them up to be Champs, unless they lose to Hardin. A win by Buna gives them the Championship looks like! Oh the possibilities

1998-2001 it was back and forth. EC won in 98 33-14, Buna in 99 26-13, EC in 2000 26-14, Buna in 2001 20-14. Since then it has been all EC. But I remember those games, Buna wasn't always expected to do so well and they always made it a tough game. With all the hype this time around, there could be big fire works this friday!

In years past this has always be a see saw battle. One year EC would dominate and the next year Buna would pull an upset so it appears the tradition continues this week. I am pulling for EC. Looking forward to a heck of a game! Haven't ever gotten to see Thomas play football so I am looking forward to that and since Buna handed my Hornets their first loss of the year last week I am looking forward to seeing this big line they have and their pounding running game. 5A--still up in the air 4A--Creuder quite the turn around. I think they will make the playoffs but would love to see them win the district first. This coach has definitely got something going out there in Lumberton. I am impressed with what I have read about the kids being involved in a summer track program. I know they play a lot of baseball out there and as a former track coach I know hwo hard it is to talk kids into running more than 90 feet. I coached out there when Coach Creuder was our film guy, 1982. Remember that coach? lol 3A--Madigan (sp?) HF good to see HF being competitive. 2A--Haynes 2-8 to hopefully 10-0 this year. EC has the tradition, would love to see them get past Mart and further into the playoffs, if that happened, I would vote for Valastro (sp?) 1A--? Lumberton in an upset!

Like I mentioned on another thread about the 4A schools, this district is also one of those races which makes it exciting for everyone. My money is on EC to win out but they will get a test from Hardin and possibly Buna. Kountze may be a spoiler but I doubt it. In my heart, it is Nov. 9 in Winnie: EC vs Hardin for the championship. Like the old beer commercial: "It just doesn't get any better than this!"

Wow, this is great! It is only Monday and the posts are going hot and heavy! Can't wait to see what is next. Who needs soap operas or reality shows when you have this website! OK...back to the game. Haven't seen PNG but did see Lumberton play well against a not to good Central. I am pulling for the Raiders. They played well, loved their attacking defense. They were quicker than I thought they would be. I am glad to see that PNG beat Nederland. So, this district is what the pro baseball/football/basketall marketers love. It is going to come down to the last week to settle the playoff spots. Like the old beer commercials, "It just doesn't get any better than this!"

Wish i could be at this game! In that district, this will be one of the big match ups as well as EC vs Buna and EC vs Hardin. Going to be a dog fight between all three for the top spot. My money is on Hardin. Later on it will be Hardin and EC for the championship!

Lumberton looked awesome. The score SHOULD have been 49-7. Lumberton shot themselves in the foot a few times with fumbles and blown pass coverage but otherwise played a heck of a game on defense. #5 is one tough runner. I was very impressed with him. I was impressed with their team speed. There were able to contain Central very well. A VERY impressive, poised team. Very well coached. I will be rooting for them the rest of the way!

hardin is headed for their showdown with EC on Nov. 9. IMO, that could be the district championship unless Buna rocks the boat somewhere along the line

I have marked my calendar for November 9. Hardin vs EC. Probably the district championship on the line. It is up to Buna to upset that scenario

Hardin takes this one. Too much for Anahuac to handle this year. Maybe next year Panthers.

Hoopeston (Ill) Cornjerkers

Coaching lumberton freshman 25 years ago, playing jasper freshmen. jasper is running their middle LBs up our middle ALL night long. We couldn't stop them. Parent from the stands, "The linebackers are blitzing!!!" Make you want to turn around and say some thing like, "NO (expletive) SHERLOCK!" Also: I was at a HF playoff game way back in the early 90's,against Newton I think. HF is behind. 5 minutes to go in the game. I hear a parent around me say, "There's 5 minutes on the clock, that is like having 30 minutes of football left in the game." ??? ??? ???

Heard a parent at a West hardin playoff game (against Groveton I think, way back in the late 80's) say on the way out of the stadium after WH had gotten their butts whipped, "I think the coach should of called a time out after that 4 th TD by groveton to settle them boys down and get their heads back in the game."

Last I checked it was WH VARSITY playing the Kelly JV. What difference does it make whether or not Kelly moved "some" Varsity players down or not. Unless they moved the starting 11 down WH just needs to suck it up. Sounds to me WH got whipped and wants to spread a little blame somewhere else.

Well I don't know about this last post. Sounds kind of weird coming from someone who plays for them. All I have to say is if it works don't break it. Keep throwing it and if the right person keeps catching it then more power to you. Say...sum_body, what would your coach say about your posting this?

I love all this hype between EC, Buna, and Hardin. I guess D'ville is just hanging on hoping osmething major happens so they have a shot. I am going with EC in a big way this week against D'ville. Who does Buna play?

Somebody is definitely trying to start some stuff here. While I have been a big supporter of Cathedral...Oops, I mean Legacy... there is no way they could handle Kelly right now. It would be a great rivalry if Legacy could get close to the level of Kelly but that is not happening right now. Two years ago, they were close and there was a game scheduled but the Legacy people wanted it canceled. Kelly has a strong tradition and has fielded some good teams, that is something that takes time and it has been an up and down battle for Cathedral...oops...again..Legacy to build a solid program.

Way to go Hornets. This win sounds impressive. More power to you the rest of the season!
