I am just not sure where this "kicking the baton" comes from. There was no kick. It was a "dropped baton". Like I said earlier, carry the baton on the inside, just like a running back protects the ball, a runner has to protect the baton, especially in the 1600 relay.

I agree with #1. There was no "kicking" of a baton by anyone. Looks to me that there was probably some incidental contact which caused the BH kid to drop the stick. Like it has been said, things happen in this situation that you cannot blame on any one person, you just hope it doesn't happen to your kid, team, or school. I could fill up this page with similar senarios I witnessed during my 17 years as a track athlete and high school track coach. It is unfortunate it had to happen in the second biggest track meet of the season. Next time, carry the stick on the inside, that is my advise.

Thanks, this should be interesting.

Hardin has always had potential. I am familiar with them for the past 20+ years. There is a mental block in the kids brought about by what I am not sure but they field very competitive junior high and low level teams but when they get to varisty levels there is something missing. They have had a few teams make the playoffs over the last few years in basketball and football. Just haven't gotten to that consistent contender level. The girls program is going great guns. Got a pair of great coaches in the Snell family. Good luck Hornets! I will always be a Hornet at heart.

**CATHEDRAL TO CHANGE NAME/NEW FOOTBALL COACH**
bmtdc1996 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Coach Smith did a great job turning this program around, sorry to see him go. Good luck to the new coach and the new school situation. Hopefully these changes will bring upgraded facilities, more kids and continue what Smith started in raising the athletic standard at Cathedral. -
If you have it would love to see it... let me know where I can view it or you can email it to me, just let me know. I would like to make my own decision as to who did what.

can anyone who has video of this race put it on youtube or some where so I could see it. i am a former track coach and would like to take a look at this infamous race which seems to have caused world war fourteen between Dayton and BH.

Congrats to these young men. Could someone give me some specifics on these two athletes, I am not familiar with their performances. Thanks -
Your teams biggest rival and what created the rivalry?
bmtdc1996 replied to STINGER's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I used to be around Hardin when they played HD and WH. Those were always tough games. Not sure what the series records are between Hardin and HD, Hardin has only won a few times in the last 20+ years but I know it is always a very competitive game. The Hardin/West Hardin series might be a little more equal but it usually is tough game too. -
Who Is The Most Feared Team In SETX!!!
bmtdc1996 replied to ozens fastest@1906's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Bring back the Jasper teams of the 80s and I would definitely vote for them. Of course WOS has ALWAYS been tough. Others come and go but the Mustangs seem to hang in there. They have definitely made the teams in 3A moan and groan. All of this is my opinion lest we forget. Now in the smaller classes, Newton and East Chambers have been dominant. Year in year out. -
Should a shot clock be used in HS b-ball?
bmtdc1996 replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
NO SHOT CLOCK! A shot clock will NOT get a kid ready to play at the college level, playing basketball will. Playing any and all types of games whether it be fast break, run and holler, shoot and foller or slow down, take twenty passes until you get a good look. A kid should learn all aspects of the game and leaving the game like it is lets coaches be creative. A win is a win whether it is 90-89 or 20-19. -
HJ vs. Waco Connally Predictions?
bmtdc1996 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
anyone know where the game will be? -
My vote goes to Hooks and if Andy Evans was still in the area he would definitely be in the top 3-4 of the area.

Private School Player Of The Year?
bmtdc1996 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have seen Ford play several times this year, but after seeing his outstanding play at the regional playoff game yesterday I feel like he is a definite candidate for any kind of player of the year. As has been stated, he was relentless on defense making countless steals as well as rebounds and assists on the offensive end. He's quick and a pretty good ball handler as well. -
The Warriors lost their regional playoff game today to San Antonio Lutheran 75-70. It was a tough game for the Warriors but they never gave up. Down 10 at the start of the fourth quarter, as they were most of the game, they came back to take the lead with 3 minutes to go and battled it out to the end. Don't have any stats, all I know is Jared Ford hustled his butt off the whole game before fouling out. He was ALL over the court making steals and playing pressure defense. He even scored some too! Great job Warriors!

Cathedral Wins Playoff Game!!!

Thanks for your support ECBucFan, I am a Buc fan myself, not as much these days as I was a few years back when Andy Evans was AD. I still root for the Bucs in my heart though. I appreciate your supportive posts in all areas. You have class! -

Cathedral Wins Playoff Game!!!
bmtdc1996 replied to AshlyHasBeen's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I beleive they play this coming Saturday in San Antonio against SA Lutheran. Come on Warriors, your going to have to pick up your game a bit to keep moving on to State!! I am behind you all the way! -
Are there any other teams going to the playoffs around here?? LOL! This website would be dead if HJ and WH and WOS weren't in the playoffs. Guess nobody cares about the other schools around here, or at least we don't feel like to we need to cut each other's throats over it. ALL the playoff teams are GOOD, COMPETITIVE teams in their own right, on their own levels, whether it be 5A all the way down to TAPPS. If HJ and WOS meet somewhere down the road, may the best team win! In MY opinion the only game of significance Friday night is EC vs. Kountze (I vote for EC!). Good luck to the local teams in the playoffs.

Chireno 121 Burkeville 65 Final/Tuesday

Burkeville send out the 8th grade team for the 3rd quarter? I will have to keep an eye on this Chireno team. -
West Hardin 70 Big Sandy 49 Final/Tuesday
bmtdc1996 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
What happened to Big Sandy? They just pack it in to wait for the playoffs? To me, district Champ means a whole lot more than co champ or second place. Well, good luck to both teams in the playoffs. WH playing WOS?! Look out Mustangs, here come the Oilers! -
EC 65 Cathedral 59 Final/Monday
bmtdc1996 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It was a real good game by both teams. Cathedral missed some crucial shots and foul shots which I feel cost them the game. Cathedral heads into bi-district this weekend. I think they will be headed to the TAPPS State tourney in a few weeks. East Chambers is a great team, their coach is a class act and the Thomas kid is some kind of player. I wish them the best against Kountze this weekend. I always hate when we lose but losing a close one to a great team like EC is encouraging for our kids and our program.
