  1. I love that I was off and got to watch it! It was amazing.
  2. Then I'll be the first person on here to say congratulations. I like the guy and don't hold him accountable for anything. Proven until guilty in this country and he deserves that same respect. I am a person who likes to see records broken in my lifetime and this is an opportunity for me to see it. Congrats Bonds and I am waiting to watch him break it now.
  3. MY MISTAKE! I overlooked HOME opener. Carry on Coop, didnt mean to try to make you wrong for once. Your dominance continues
  4. I thought I saw it was the Rockets vs. Lakers and the Blazers vs. the Spurs.
  5. Best I ever covered so far was Ehlert and I only saw him his freshman and sophomore seasons. Haymon in BC was incredible til his injury. Hicks will be awesome and Stringer was great. Remember these are just I have covered! Allen Harrington of PNG was a stud. But Ehlert his freshman year was amazing for a freshman. He took a no-hitter into the last inning at Vidor and if I remember right did it again his sophomore year and both got broke up. I could be wrong on that but I truly remember it that way.
  6. In my mind LCM is picked very low and call me crazy, Lumberton fans will love me, but I like their team. Im not calling them a playoff team but I really like their qb DeJohn and runners Hanna and Hussey. There I showed some Lumberton love now they better back me up or never again!
  7. Sweetenham threw a 2 hitter if I understand it right. I worked with his dad at the Pompano Club for many years. Chris has been throwing ever since I have ever known him. He will be a stud real soon, in fact he might already be.
  8. The best pressbox food is in Vidor. They feel a reporter so much it is hard to go back to work and write a story, all I ever want is a nap!
  9. I agree he needs to stay out now but it really was him that got this whole steroid ball rolling in the MLB.
  10. Congratulations to an extremely gifted athlete. You know I challenged Earl to a race at the district track meet and he never took me up on the offer. Of course I said I had to get a head start and be driving in my car. Cant wait to see Earl in a UT jersey.
  11. Great, great great move finally! Get a young player for Wheeler while you can! Great! This had to be done! Wheeler was a great pitcher and his future is bright but if you were going to get something for him, the time was now. Wigginton is a solid young player.
  12. Lets not trash the team just yet guys. The real thing is to hope the problem gets solved and this team goes on to make SE Texas proud. I have talked to Coach Pierce three times now and I can tell he really wants to succeed in this area. I hope this setback is just a lil bump in the road and the team is around for many years. It gives us some football to watch and guys another chance to play and possibly get an opportunity at moving on higher up the ladder.
  13. Have to say WOS wins the district until some other team proves they can do it. Kirbyville will be tough but WOS will win the title again. They got my new boy Chase Adams! Talked to him for about an hour the other night. Great kid and cant wait to watch him play.
  14. Isnt Berkman banged up? And Oswalt is missing his next start too. Just wasnt the Astros year this year. I say trade a few guys like Wheeler and get some young talent. Wheeler is great so someone will be willing to pick up some bullpen help.
  15. Arod Pujols Vlad Soriano Thats all I can for sure put ahead of Jeter. Cant take Ramirez because hes not as all around as Jeter. Ortiz doesnt play the field. The reason I cant take the others for sure is because they have not won and had Jeter's success just yet. Jeter is the product of a great team, that is true, but part of the reason the Yankees were so great is because of Jeter. From clutch plays to clutch hits, he puts his team in a position to win when it matters the most.
  16. It does dampen the chance a bit I guess. Need a good 30 game winning streak right about now. With our pitching staff and EXPLOSIVE offense with Burke leading the way - oh it will happen. I guarantee the Astros will be in the playoffs (well by the time of the end of the next century)
  17. I know WB has a great team and a good program but I think a few teams in our area could hang or even beat them in a real game. BC, LCM, Jasper, PNG, Nederland, BH and Vidor are just a few off the top of my head that will be good next year. WB would do great playing these teams because these are great teams. You get better playing tough teams and our area has proved time and time again to have some of the best baseball teams around.
  18. It was a great time. I will say the only gripe I have is the game took too long but the atmospher was fun. I think people should go out and support these guys. They play in 2 weeks at WOS Middle School. The only way these teams will succeed is fan support so give them a shot at being successful. We say SE Texas loves football more than anywhere else so lets prove it and make these guys the best they can be.
  19. What are yall laughing at? Did I pick the Grizz too low? Ok they will finish ahead of the Hornets. There, you happy? ;D
  20. 1. Mavs 2. 3. Rockets 4. Hornets 5. Grizz
  21. I like Francis, if for nothing else, it means the Rockets could be close to be better than the Spurs
  22. I agree. One of the smartest players I have ever coached or watched. Good luck Katie and we will be keeping up with you here at the Leader
  23. Katie at some point will make a GREAT basketball coach. No questions asked.
  24. This is what I was able to get. Hard for me to get news of a Silsbee happening way out in Orange but just wanted our readers to know of this sad event. Orange Leader Sports Silsbee’s Donovan Harris, a state champion in the 110-meter hurdles, was listed in critical condition Thursday after a fatal car accident Wednesday on Business 96 near Silsbee. Harris’ Toyota Camry was traveling south on 96 when a Ford Expedition traveling north jumped lanes and struck Harris’ vehicle head-on at about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday. Harris, a receiver for the Tigers, was taken to Christus St. Elizabeth before being moved to Galveston for head trauma a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety said Thursday. After striking Harris’ Camry, the Expedition then rolled on its right side and was struck on the roof by a Chevy Silverado. A 1-year-old child in the Expedition was pronounced dead at the hospital following the accident. Reports came in late Thursday evening Harris was moved from ICU to the children’s hospital and was alert and eating.
  25. So an area all-star team is the only team that could have competed against WB? I beg to differ
