Jasper at Central Heights

And you think CH is gonna throw their ace all 7? Yeah right. The whole purpose of a warm up game is to play someone you're not used to playing, keeping your hitters and your pitchers fresh, and discovering who's gonna be the first guy to come off the bench if needed come playoff time. Of course you want to win every game if you can, but its not the complete purpose of the warm up game. CH has a lot of pitchers and hitters that need looks just like Jasper does I assume. -

CH can steal it as well. I think it's gonna be a good game. -
State Rankings- April 21

I see a possibility of Elkhart moving into the top ten in 2A before long. Surprised Hughes Springs is so high after losing two straight district games to a couple of mid-class teams. Playoffs around the corner will settle all. -

Hemphill is 7-3 and Corrigan is 7-3 in 22 2A (if not 8-3). -
As of today: 17 Chapel Hill Queen City Redwater 18 Edgewood Grand Saline Alba 19 Hughes Springs White Oak/Harmony New Diana is still in playoff picture (and Daingerdield may be, this is jumbled) 20 Harleton Elysian Fields/Jefferson Joaquin 21 Elkhart Troup West Rusk (if Arp wins out and WR loses out, things will change) 22 Central Heights Hemphill Corrigan (Woodville plays Hemphill soon, if Hemphill wins then Woodville is eliminated; if Woodville wins then theres a three way tie for the final two spots) 23 Crockett New Waverly Centerville 24 Buna Warren Anahuac/Hardin/Kountze 24 is a crazy race, probably the craziest. Then 22 and 20. District 17 and 19 should come down to the wire too.

Hemphill @ Central Heights/@ 7/ Predictions??
BluePride152011 replied to SportsN3rd's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The game was tied because of walks and errors from the CH side. 7 walks, 2hbps, 2 throwing errors, and numerous pbs and wps in the first three innings. Hemphill didn't hit the ball hard at all until a new kid got brought in. Even then, they only hit about three or four balls hard. First hit was a misplayed bunt. Second was a soft liner that was dove over the top of by an infielder. Third hit I believe was also an infield hit. CH smashes the ball in the first couple innings, scoring 5 then two, then justin twine pitched real well. It was a sloppy, long, and fairly boring game with some high points of excitement coming late. Also, being senior night, the kid hitting .640 for CH didn't even play until the fourth inning. The lineup was moved around a bit. Hats off go to Hemphill as they battled until the end and played one of the closest games against CH this year. Good luck to them and may they do damage in the playoffs (having to beat Woodville to guarantee a spot). -

I don't think hemphill can score more than a run or two of CH. I also don't think CH will score quite as many this time around either. CH 15 Hemphill 1 -

Same goes for Hemphill.... hemphill was legit.
You don't know what you're talking about. CH is much better this year than 08, more of a team and more balance all around. And scoring 5 runs apiece in both games isn't exactly "smashing" FYI. I bet you haven't even seen CH play this year.
It hurts losing those three players, but you have to have nine players to play the game so the best three only get to hit three times each game. If no one else does anything to support the three, then you won't score many runs. Also, errors can be made elsewhere, etc. No marbles loose here. CH is a better TEAM this year than 08. The best TEAM they have put on the field since 04. I have witnessed both this years team and 08s team, and there aren't any big draft standouts on this years team, but several guys could play D1 baseball somewhere. You can't pitch around this team like you could in 08, everyone can hit the ball. Even when a few guys have off nights, that leaves the rest of the team to pick up slack and have on nights. That's what true teams do. Just my opinion. You got some marbles loose I believe. CH is good this year, but are you KIDDING me? Try were ranked number 1 in state in 08. A Rawlings all American throwing low to mid 90's. Who was drafted outbid high school. Then a # 2 throwing mid to upper 80's. With a catcher who started as a true freshman at div. 1 Oklahoma state and not only started but went off. The rest of the 6 weren't bad either. Seriously doubt they can compare to 08 team but could be wrong. And 10 runs score and only 2 allowed Is pretty impressive in 3rd round against those two pitchers. And Hemphills 08 team was legit. Not even same ballpark as this years squad.
-
District 22AA vs District 23AA

I'm gonna favor 22 2A. Hemphill is strong with Twine on the mound (already beat Warren, a top dog in 24). Corrigan will be strong in one game with hooks on the mound, no hit Woodville and they also beat Hemphill. Woodville is a sleeper, they'll sneak up on you though if you aren't careful. They'll hit the ball pretty hard. Woden had a lefty that wasn't bad, but he's injured, so they don't really stand any chance without him. Newton may play a couple 24 bottom feeders close, but will prbly still get beat. SA won't compete period, but they have improved greatly from the first time we played them to the second time. JMO However, I cannot really speak for anyone in 24, so I'm just a biased as the rest of you. -

APs velocity was down. Haley was very wild. Hit two batters and walked three in the last inning to make 14-2 instead of 14-4...CH hit the ball hard pretty much all night. The field is rougher than it has been in years past, so many hard hit balls kicked way up in the air. And if hemphill loses out, there will be a three way tie between Hemphill, Corrigan and Woodville.

CH has more than 3 guys that can bring it. And I agree with sportsnerd. Top 3 from 22 pull it out and bottom 3 from 24 pull it out. Middle game is a tough contest. Hard to tell.
