At this point HF should give up sports and focus on books. Parents will not allow their children to be coached and truth be known if the parents cared as much about the classroom as they do the sports field many of the great teachers they leave as well. Micromanaging parents at its best is on display at HF

Have they named their new girl's basketball coach? Great community, outstanding facilities ingredients for a great job.
-
On job board this is open where did coach go? Really respected ability to build on an already rich basketball tradition. Good luck coach fair thee well
-
dove - did you not kinda sorta cheat when you moved? Seems like you didn't go to a school that was terrible in basketball, I hope you hold everyone including yourself accountable like you do all these coaches that keep letting your kids down.
-
Guys on here that cry foul when Yates gets players are pretty funny, its only cheating when it goes against you right? The funnier thing is blue dove started this segment, the guy who saw the writing on the wall(Yates being in HF region) and took his kids and ball and moved. Then goes on rant when Central coaches do not let the kids play and grow on their own. He and his crew of whiners talk about the good ole days when you watched "Great" coaches let the athletes develop and win state championships, while today's coaches just lack that special something. Truth is dove, you and your friends saw kids from long ago accomplish great things because their parents were not on message boards all day. These parents worked for a living, not sitting behind a desk all day clicking and clacking on message boards.

Awards are have little meaning and it helps coaches keep jobs. Not sure why all the anger solo communities have been giving participant trophies for years. Coaches are just giving you what you want.
The coach did not have her key players buy in to playing club ball like in the past, this is where other coaches teach them the basic and technique of playing volleyball.and then she will get the finish product.the coach is still playing home town politics.and favorite.u play to win the game.u play to win the game.
BUY IN is probably the key word that club stuff is expensive and most kids could save that money and pay for the junior college scholarship that they can earn by playing all that club ball. Wondering why coach needs a finished product from the club programs to compete? I thought a HS coaches job was to develop and produce a finished product but oh well if HF VB players need to pay for coaching and skill development at least it is understood by the HF community. I can see the HF community going crazy on the boys side if the football coach told the parents they need to shell out money to another coach so the could be taught skills.

Reasons Why Central Is Destined To Win District
Dove Hunter replied to BLUEDOVE3's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think Central, Ozen, and Nederland are the top 3 in 20-4A this year, in no particular order. The rest of the district will have to battle it out for the last spot. I do agree with the post that mentioned that the Central coaches "give up" on the team when things are bad. Heck, I dont see much basketball discipline from that team at any time. They get by with lots of basketball talent. It sure aint the coaching. If that team had an English on the sidelines, they could be incredible. As it stands, they wont make it very far past district play.
Not sure fans or players would play for English, they won their state title when they beat Yates, this season is just a victory tour for them and they deserve it. Great team accomplishment -
This district on the girl's side is unable to do well in playoffs and for the life of me I can not figure out why. Everyone on here talks highly of these players and they have not had near the success that the boys in this district have had. It is something that is never discussed but if you are Orangefield and HJ(which one 30 straight district games) do not have a regional finals appearance that is hard to believe with all the passionate voices on this board. Maybe the kids are not as passionate as the adults
-
I bet at least ten years. That is tradition. Just looking in from outside both HJ and orangefield have new basketball coaches(old ones may have left with dwindling focus on basketball) and probably have as much athletic ability as Silsbee and Bridge City two other strong Volleyball schools. HF may have seen their best years and now will have to really develop at a higher level to keep up. HJ coming up has to be a concern for HF since that just adds another athletic team to compete with for a playoff spot. Back in 2000 when the HF run started both HJ and Orangefield had three sports preseason basketball, basketball and postseason basketball. Now they are putting emphasis on it and now they are winning.
-
What was their streak of consecutive playoff appearances at before this year? Seems that Volleyball like Football is starting to be hurt by HJ and Orangefield's athleticism and new desire to be good at volleyball.

Hamshire-Fannett End of Season Record Predictions
Dove Hunter replied to SilentVoices's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Personally, before Friday nights game against Splendora I had them at 3-7 by the end of the season. But with the loss against Splendora I think the Horns will have another upsetting 1-9 season in their future
Silent voices is that an oxymoron? You will move as did the Dove so do it ASAP so the true Longhorns can battle for what ever form of success that can be reached. -
Hamshire-Fannett End of Season Record Predictions
Dove Hunter replied to SilentVoices's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Blue dove did the right thing, he knew his kids couldn't keep up with the regions best team. So he cut his losses, he predicted multiple state titles with his sons and he should have they are talented. Just hope that they win it all the next three yrs they are so gifted and really well raised. -
Ciara Guilhas HF Point Guard Best in 21-3A
Dove Hunter replied to Gojira's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I guess she no longer wants to play basketball?? by now she should have gotten everything in order with the college of her choice, so saying that she was a good player, she lead her team to two playoff wins in four years as a starter. Can't really call that district tough because it rarely represents the region at state and no team has made regional finals in last fifteen yrs. Any one do better?? -
Local High School Basketball Talent Off The Chart

I think all parents should follow Blue Dove and move them out of Yates way!! Go to Ozen or Central and avoid Yates at all cost. I remember the days that HF was going to win all these state championships with the Dove Boys leading way, now they move to avoid Yates moving down to 3A. Blue Dove must be related to Floyd Mayweather have not seen someone dodge ballers(Yates) like Mayweather dodges Pac Man. Blue dove loves his fixed boxing and recruited HS basketball teams -

I think when she signs her college scholarship that will give all people a better idea of where she ranks. So what college's have had her come in on an official visit? She could fit in really well at quite a few colleges -
Team that has best linemen will be able to keep up with WOS and Silsbee, saying that you have to give serious consideration to OF, BC and Buna

Hamshire-Fannett AD/HC now open

Where are all the football nuts on the basket topics?? Basketball nuts want to come on the football site and blather on about how weights training is specific to football and that Athletic Directors should promote all sports. You live in Texas which is in the south where football is dominant. You have an education but are obviously not educated. Do the math University of Texas had a profit of 89 million dollars this year in football so they can make millions of dollars in one home game. Now in high school a football game will have the football team which can be as large as 100 members then you add on the cheerleaders, drill team and band. That is a ton of students that are a part of every Friday night. So when you pay Coach Price 80K to rebuild a athletic program the one with the most impact is football. Dove you can move to another school and please do but it is always the same football is and always will be king. If you find recruiting in High school acceptable but UOS workouts not then you are hypocritical. ask DV to explain to you what that means -
Hamshire-Fannett AD/HC now open

Pretty sure that the Admin at HF and the students live on this board, therefore, it is hard to build any school pride or commitment, even when disgruntled parents move their kids they continue to spew their negative vibes to the kids that attend HF. Parents that want, I think, for their kids to be successful get on here and undermine the coaches and parents that have turned tail and ran want to make sure program does not succeed without their babies on the roster. Read other schools post when they lose in playoffs they rarely complain about coach and cheer on the student athletes. Only positive thing is their is only one HF in the golden triangle and it is where all disgruntled parents seem to happy to air their incomplete thoughts on line as if anyone cares about a school that has had turnover in Football and both basketball programs. Hey maybe this is all for the best, I can tell you that it hurts to read all the negative words that adults that have jobs that can't be arm chair analyzed every week get on here and tear down any hope for success by undermining the coaches at HF especially if you cut bait and pulled your kids out leave HF topics alone you left for greener pastures and HF has moved on why don't you? -
CE King/Hires Don Price as new head coach
Dove Hunter replied to bld1024's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I thought once dove washed his hands of the HF program he would move on to more sophisticated schools, worthy of his children, not poor pitiful HF?? And to answer your question about having a poor record, coach Price could say overbearing parents that undermine the coaches and programs keep the kids too distracted from what should be their goals of school pride and success not self grandiose. What you think dove would that work with the hiring committee?? -
Hamshire-Fannett Coach DeCello out???

This is another sad day for the HF athletic program. I feel for the kids. They are always the ones who pay for adult stupidity. :( -
Dove Hunter, are you from Orangefield?
Respect programs like EC and OF for how hard those kids prepare, may not be the best talent but they have the can do attitude.

And its not all the blame on the new head coach at HF. He's working with what he's got to work with at HF. GIVE him a chance and time to see what he can do.
Well from past indications Price should have this year and maybe next year only to prove something or he will be forced to "retire" again by powers to be, and HF will start all over again, either way HF will have another AD/FB coach in a year or 2 because thats is what they do and will do till they realize there coaching cannot make up for unequal talent and nonaccountability of the kids and parents in the community. They should have known when they hired Price out of "retirement" he wasn't going to be around very long.
You may be on to something King, I think he wants to leave one last mark in athletics but parents writing notes to get kids out of UOS is and has always been the issue. Wish parents could take a tour of the other schools and see how hard a athlete must prepare for success.

Blue - It is hard to understand your position on HF?? You are on this board a good amount of the time and during basketball it was your opinions on what the coach did to lose the games. Now it can and has been said that your voice was one that was heard and the HF admin decided a change in leadership was needed. You inquire what qualities and who may have those qualities for coaching your children, no harm in that. The problem starts when you get blind sided with the hiring of a girls coach. Your mood seems to have changed and now it is all about how you can not make the meet and greet, which we all were holding our breath that you would attend. We here mama makes a mean spinach dip! Now it is all about discipline, and that starts at home, your talented sons play year round, have a personal trainer and have a high IQ. So the other two starters need the discipline and maybe mine will have just enough to make you happy. Because the two and a half men that are starting next season have the tools and talent to win district.

All-District Team for District 20-4A Girls Basketball
Dove Hunter replied to mckinney's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads

Sometimes the polls can be wrong you know.
WHAT'S YOUR OPINION? DO YOU THINK ANY OF THESE GIRLS DESERVE TO HAVE BEEN RANKED ON ANY POLL OR IN THEIR DISTRICT? HONESTLY?
Teardrop it is funny how you break the "no all caps rule" because you "like it" and try to sell people on the fact that a deserving person did not get the recognition they earned. Could you do some research and ask the coach if they nominated your choice for MVP? Also rankings really are only as meaningful as you make them. Look at some of the Women's college recruiting rankings, I believe out of the top 25 players each year 16 - 19 are considered bust by their junior year. The player you like may not fit what other coaches and fans like. Everyone has an opinion and yours is a valid as anyones. Only thing is that the others on here are not screaming in all caps about theirs.
