Makes all the sense in the world to me. There are 1A teams around the state and the area who dont make the playoffs this year that would beat them by 50 points. What about that doesnt make sense? I blame the UIL not Burkeville ..and I predict that they lose their first round game by at least 40 points easily. You have your opinion..I have mine. Period. I just feel sorry for kids who are sitting at home while another team not 10 times as good gets destroyed in the 1st round.

ok Guy..I have no problem with Burkeville, they are not even on the radar to everyone. I just feel that there are going to be some teams around the area that wont go to the playoff that are a hell of a lot more deserving than the Mustangs who have gotten blown out of every game this year and beat a High Island team with barely enough players to field a team.

The shame is that Burkeville will prob make the playoffs with a record of 2-6. The UIL needs to do something to correct this problem. There are too many teams in 1a that are deserving to make the playoffs. I am sorry but a record of 2-6 should not be a playoff berth no matter how bad the district is. I understand that they did not choose the district...but to me, in my opinion, that is ridiculous.

I actually did hear something about the Burkeville RB last year..but nothing about any wide receiver from there.

Noone ever talked about anyone but Robertson in Jasper..I heard he is playing college ball somewhere in CA. Is that true? Did anyone else on that team go to a higher level?

Just did the math..Burkeville has given up a total of 254 points this year in six games. That is an average of 42 points a game! It is amazing to think that this team may go to the playoffs????? WTH UIL????

Sounds to me that Evadale called off the dogs when they could have scored 100+ on the pitiful and lowly Mustangs. Great job of showing class Evadale !

I am from Jasper and my kids go to Jasper. I try to follow all of the surrounding teams. The only thing I remember about Burkeville last year was how good that Robertson kid was. But, Burkeville went to the playoffs last year. It could not have been solely based on one kid.

So nobody at that 1a school played both ways?

24 starters? Last time I checked there was only 22 players that was on both off and def. So Burkeville graduated every single starter?

What is sad is that in this district if Burkeville beats Sabine Pass and High Island then they could possibly go to the playoffs with two wins against about 7 or 6 losses. I dont know if they will even beat those teams. Wasn't Burkeville a playoff team last year? I thought that they had turned things around?

Is Burkeville playing defense? 48 points in one half? That means that Evadale has scored everytime they have touched the ball.Surely that can not be the case.

In my opinion, parents are the utter destruction of many a football team. Coaches do a method of employment that is literally unthankful and often times bounderish by many parents.

A remarkable and insightful idea.

It is quite apparent to this seasoned observer that the discourtesy sport of volleyball is lacking those admirers that it needs to push it into the mainstream of American High School sport. The last game that I attended had almost no devotees which is an embarrassment to the very schools that these teams represent. More assiduity should be paid to this sport which is a brilliant spectacle of fierce competition to observe.

Can anyone tell me why there seems to be such a huge turnover rate for teachers and coaches at this school? What is the problem there?

It is my honest opinion that indeed the Mustangs will be better next year,,not good, but better. However, they are losing speed like has been well put in these very forums. From what I am told by associates, I would not be surprised if the district receeds athletes to other schools. Many parents and students are very infuriated with the way things are being handled and would rather have their children depart. That is what I am hearing. But, I am only an outside observer.

An unbelievable and utterly impressive performance by the young men of West Hardin. This sportswriter would like to personally congratulate the entire Oiler squad for a job very felicitously done.

An incredible and improbable series sweep for the Douglass Indians over the defeated Evadale Rebels. Pitching, my  friends, is the heart and unmeasurable soul of any baseball squad and from what I am gathering it is the pitching and defense that beat the mighty Rebels. What a shame that this talented group of Rebels will never experience the joy of winning a state title...but, they can still hold their heads high. Congratulations to the Indians for a job extremely well done..and best of luck in your future endeavors in these very playoff games.
