  1. Superintendent leaving High School Principal leaving Maybe not a great situation being hired before the Superintendent, but.......
  2. This is a fact. Wasn't the District swept in the 1st round? District Champion LCM got beat 49-21 by 4th place Lindale (6-6) who is not a football juggernaut.
  3. We will agree to disagree on this one. I've always wondered why there are so many Livingston haters out there? I mean, what have the Lions ever done to you?
  4. So...... Does Livingston really want to "run it back"?
  5. Amen!! Experienced enough to know the ropes, young enough to get the kids excited to compete, progressive enough to get the athletes to play and with a willingness to not only "right the ship" but to keep captaining the boat for the foreseeable future.
  6. One thing about using a search firm, no one will probably ever know who all applied or who even interviewed. There will be no sightings at the Administration Building until the School Board meeting the day he is announced.
  7. You very well may be correct. However, I think the school sets some parameters. The school has some things they are looking for in their next coach. If I'm not mistaken, the school can ask for qualified candidates with ties to the community be ¹given priority in earning an opportunity to interview.
  8. I'm sure he is. A State Championship would definitely help his chances.
  9. This Sophomore group is really good, so probably.
  10. Of course you want as good a coach as you can get. However, hiring a quality coach that really wants to be a long-term solution and establish a culture and program that the community can be proud of should have a bearing on the decision. Wanting to be in a town like Livingston and wanting to stay in a town like Livingston should make a modicum of difference in who is hired. Weeding out candidates that simply want to use Livingston as a stepping stone is a must. Avoid the 2 year cycle.
  11. To speak to your point.... Or your usual point..... Can this individual win a State Championship within 7 years? Yes, yes he can, as long as the talent is there, he can win.
  12. Obviously, nobody knows the answer to this question, because nobody knows who has or will apply. Also, this is a loaded question. Just because this individual does not have the best "record" does not mean he is not the best available or more importantly the BEST FIT. I do know this individual is a pretty good football coach who has done more with less in the past.
  13. Easy now, Quick loves the guy.
  14. Looking forward to watching this epic clash for the third year in a row.
  15. Deadline to apply is December 22, start date is January 6. Livingston is moving fast. Probably the best thing for the program. One name keeps popping up in and around Livingston and it is NOT RR. Hire the man that wants to be there and let him go to work.
  16. Very good question. You would think they would want to get someone in place ASAP. However, they might miss out on a good hire if they move too fast. Definitely a quandary.
  17. This is going to be an interesting hire. Does Livingston try to recapture old "glory" by bringing back someone they have already fired once? Does Livingston bring in a "modern" offensive philosophy and a coach that knows the community and how to win (relevant) at difficult places? Does Livingston go completely out of their comfort zone and bring in a complete UNKNOWN? What say Ye?
  18. I knew this we going to be the response. Fairfield was a pretty good 4 seed. But, regardless, winning a District Championship in your 1st year in a completely different offensive system is pretty impressive. Many fail to realize that Orangefield accomplished a TON in only 6 months of learning and implementing a totally different offensive philosophy. It can be done. And, just because you are in shotgun does NOT mean you can't play SMASH mouth football.
  19. Never will be a fan of running from competition. But, back to Livingston...... They have good groups coming. And, they can compete with the right leadership. That leadership does NOT have to include the slot-t. Orangefield proved this year that with good coaching a team can run ANY offense and be successful. Culture is MUCH more important than scheme in Livingston.
  20. No reason to hate. Lots of good people and lots of things to like about Livingston. Any names surfaced???
  21. No argument from me. Set the standard, hold them to the standard. Coach fundamentals and instill discipline. Show up and get better everyday. Always remember, the little things really are the big things.
  22. You are 100% spot on. Now, there is nothing wrong with high fiving or low fiving kids coming off the field, having enthusiasm and throwing the occasional forward pass..... As long as you do all the things you mentioned. Holding kids and coaches accountable and working hard are definitely prerequisites to success. However, it is allowed to have fun while you are doing it.
