  1. I wish Cornel Thompson would take on this Challenge, tat would be a beautiful sight.
  2. Rumors of change at the top? Any rumors as to who the administration is targeting if it does happen?
  3. AMEN!!! I agree with this 100% - this is not just Beaumont - this is Nation wide
  4. You are dead right. I think an experienced Head Coach is a must. The primary need will be organizing a staff and getting the kids to believe in the PROGRAM.
  5. Tired of beating a dead horse. Whoever takes this job needs to pray for a quick resolution to the Superintendent issue. This could easily be a One and Done coaching situation if the Superintendent is let go after the release of his evaluations from Bryan. If there is a New Superintendent hired in the Summer, the football season will simply be "TRYOUT."
  6. Seems to me that there has always been an abundance of talent, just curious as to why you think the success hasn't followed the talent? Is it simply a case of not being able to attract the right Head Coach who can recruit the halls, inspire the athletes to be committed, work them hard enough in the off season to be prepared and devise an offensive and defensive plan to take advantage of the athleticism? Or, is it something else completely?
  7. A pay increase is necessary, but probably will come too late to increase the quality of the applicant pool. However, don't you think an outside hire is probably the right thing to do. It eliminates any disputes about favoritism. It is going to be hard enough meshing a coaching staff from both schools, the ultimate arbitrator and decision maker needs to be unbiased.
  8. Definitely don't want to turn this into a Livingston thread, but you guys need new leadership to get where this 9th grade group and the good Jr. High groups behind them can take you. The culture of negativity is terrible and it starts at the top. Unfortunately that is so true, the most talented usually lack the individual drive, discipline or determination to get to where their talent could have taken them. For every Devwah Whaley and Tony Brown there are 10 more that could have been just as good, if not better.
  9. That would make complete and total sense, and we all know that will never happen.
  10. I know it is off the subject, but the Mega School idea in Baytown is the right move.
  11. I see where you are coming from on this issue, but the merged school will have growing pains and needs to be treated like a brand new school just opening it's doors. Scheduling 5A schools, especially ones that the kids have some familiarity with (i.e. Vidor, PNG, Nederland) would not be a terrible thing the first two years. But, the level of competition from a Channelview or a Baytown Sterling is really not going to be that much greater.
  12. As long as there is a coaching staff hired and a District plan in place for "consolidation" then I would think the UIL would easily sign off on the "two" schools coming together and going through Spring Practices as "ONE" program. They are both 5A schools so they can both choose to go through Spring Practice as it is.
  13. Not a huge fan of Spring Ball, but this a situation where it should be mandatory. The AD should make sure that the Head Coach is hired and the Coordinators are in place prior to April and then mandate they do Spring Ball. This is the only way they will have a chance to compete next season.
  14. He is a heck of a football coach, would be a great hire if you can pull it off.
  15. Initially I was thinking along the same line Soulja, but as I take a long look at it, i think there needs to be a clean break from the "OLD" schools. If you keep the community or school names then somebody is going to gripe about why is that school or community first in the name? i.e. Central-Ozen, Old Pear etc.... If you keep the colors similar then somebody will gripe because their school is not the dominant color. i.e why the uniforms grey? why the numbers blue on the whit uni's???? I was just thinking that something completely new, that brings them together under one banner that everybody can own , would be the best way to go.
  16. Last time I checked, Band was a "fine art" and the halftime show the new school puts on will be EPIC, I can guarantee that.
  17. No worries Jag. Just wanted y'all to know that there are a few of us outside BISD that want nothing but the best for the new school and the community. The kids deserve the opportunity to be successful. They deserve every chance in the world to win at life.
  18. Exactly and it sends the message of everybody pulling the rope in the same direction. I'm an outsider too, but I know a bunch of people in both schools and communities. Unification is something that is needed. It will make the school environment better and it will make life outside of school better if we can get everybody UNITED on one goal and one purpose, to make BISD the best district possible, academically, athletically and in the area of fine arts.
  19. This is the best news possible and the AD needs to fight hard to get the HFC/Campus Coordinator salary at a place that is competitive with everybody in the state. There will be great candidates regardless, but a state wide competitive salary would be even more enticing. Now, after they get a great Head Coach in place, they need to up the Coordinators salary as well, if that happens then they could be in a great position. As far as the school name and mascot, I really like the message Beaumont United sends as a school name. And the Hurricanes mascot with the "U" color scheme and logo would be very well accepted.
  20. If you really want to make it a show, with maximum attendance, then you make it both schools home coming every year. You make it a total BISD homecoming even.
  21. I don't think you are giving them near enough credit for the quality of athletes in these two schools. Success will not be determined by the amount of talent, the talent will be there. Success will be determined by how the talent is managed. Blending these two proud athletic programs into one will be a challenge.
  22. There will be plenty of football talent to go around. There is the potential for a perennial playoff team here with the possibility of deep playoff runs and State Championships, if they hire the right person.
