  1. I agree with you 100% and I think you are spot on in your analysis of the situation. The one thing you do not hit on, and I think the overriding factor in this thread being pulled, is that it was about SILSBEE. If it had been about any other school, especially a BISD school, there is no way it would have been pulled. Silsbee and WOS are treated with kid gloves. I love this site too and hope the admin doesn't block or ban me, but sometimes the public needs to hear thinks that are uncomfortable for some individuals to hear. And peoples opinions are ok, as long as it doesn't cross the line of slander.
  2. I guess we can agree to disagree on that one. I found in informative and enlightening. We had local people with information none of us were aware of and friends and former co-workers of the recently departed coach with insight that none us "outsiders" can have.
  3. Shame on me, i thought that the Silsbee thread was informative and productive. Somebody must have said something really bad to get it yanked.
  4. Bond issues are easy to fix. The Administrators just have to sell the need. Don't hide things and remind the senior citizens that they are locked in on their tax base and their taxes will NOT be increased. If you do these things then the majority of bods will pass. The property tax increase is minimal.
  5. I do not live in LCM, but I have attended sporting events there and the facilities across the board and the schools are in dire need of upgrading. The football field and stadium are fine, but field turf would have been a great addition to improve practice opportunities. And indoor facility would have helped all sports. Sad when the administration is not willing to invest in the kids.
  6. And for those that don't realize it, baseball, softball, track, and soccer actually get more use out of the indoor practice facility than football does. They are win/win situation for all sports.
  7. What you and most normal citizens don't understand is the bond that was passed for those buildings could have included new field turf for the stadium and a multi sport indoor/workout facility for the same tax increase. They would have just had to extend the bond another 5 to 7 years.
  8. Dude, you do NOT have to sacrifice one for the other. In fact, usually when you are successful in sports your test scores increase too because there is a positive moral around the school and the kids seem to take a little bit more pride in everything they do.
  9. That was very well said. And as a coach I appreciate the support. We do it because it is a calling. It is a lot like being a preacher. Lots of critics and people watching every move we make and every word we say. Perception is reality in our world and it is something most of us knew coming in. The bottom line is, as a AD/HFC you have be a politician to a certain extent and you have to be very aware of how you treat kids in today's society. Ultimately you have to win, or you lose your job. But, you have to win the way the community wants you to win, because you are an employee of the entire community.
  10. So is the problem lack of leadership, support for other sports, scheme, overall coaches attitude?
  11. That is a pretty harsh statement right there. What do you have to back it up?
  12. Some bold statements right there with some serious allegations.
  13. The UIL has a a difficult job and there is no way to make everybody happy. I'm sure all scenarios were explored and this is the only way they could get the numbers right and balance the districts. But as far as competition, this is a good deal for West Brook. I can see the Bruins competing for a District Championship and making a deep run.
  14. Yes, but they were all in a district playing against each other, they didn't get their door blown off until they got to the playoffs.
  15. Beaumont ISD has done a disservice to the school, the kids, the parents and the community. The travel in the district they "probably" would have been in would not have been that bad. They would have replaced Navasota and the longest trip would have been Livingston. That is a trip both Ozen and Central have made numerous times.
  16. My comment, you are crazy if you think a two round playoff team drops in classification and only finishes third in this district. Coldspring still has enough players to win this district.
  17. Dude, don't sleep on Hempstead. They got better as the year went on and they have everybody coming back. They have some go-daddy's.
  18. This will be a very interesting District. Highly competitive week in and week out. Navasota and Silsbee have to be the top dogs initially.
  19. I hope he makes the best decision for HIM. Go where you will be happy for the next 3/4/5 years.
  20. May have something to do with the financial problems the District has been having. I've heard Magnet programs are a drain on the budget.
