  1. Texas under Mac was a destination location, Texas under Charlie is not so much.
  2. Not the miles that is the problem, it is the competition. That is an insanely difficult district.
  3. Amen, Soulja. I agree 100%. Missing BG, big time.
  4. I'm sure they are and the charge is probably being led by Central assistant Stevie Moore who has been a staunch Longhorn recruiter for a long time. Whaley needs to go to the Hill and be the starting tailback next year. Just my opinion from an unabashed Razorback homer. WPS!!!
  5. I will be interested to see how this plays out.
  6. Congratulations Jeff and all I have to say it is the right hire and a few years too late for most in Dayton.
  7. Hometown girl running the show, you would think she would want what is best for all of the kids.
  8. For those of us outside the listening area, an update would be nice. Nations everywhere are sitting on pins and needles.
  9. Any Jasper fans willing to enlighten us on the mass coaching exodus that is being reported in another thread?
  10. Good Chick Fried Steak, heck that is reason enough for me. On a serious note, I know there are people that read this from Colmesneil. Are there any high quality Jimmy's and Joe's running around out there?
  11. Dude, chill. This has absolutely nothing to do with race or BISD. If it had happened in BISD, it probably would have been reported quicker and acted on quicker by the media so yes, it would have become public knowledge sooner and been on the board sooner. But, NOT because of race or BISD. Simply because it would have been a more prominent story. Just back off WOSgrad and the whole board. I just had a thread about PN-G pulled because it was deemed too early in the process. You don't hear me whining about it.
  12. Major turnover in Jasper, that is not a good thing.
  13. I agree with the loss of playing time being the most valuable tool we have as coaches to punish, but it is hard in off season to find a viable option. I'm just not sure if using things described in this article are viable options either. Making kids work hard is counter productive in my mind. Encouraging, pushing, reminding them that how much playing time they get and how competitive they will be relies on how hard they work. But, if you have to make a kid work hard, is really ever going to help you win? Coaches, and I am a coach, sometimes go overboard in their desire to get kids to do the right thing.
  14. Holy crap Batman, they interviewed 10 in one night?
  15. Just felt like with all of the knowledgeable people on this Board that we could have an informed and educated discussion about something that is prevalent in many programs and rarely gets reported.
  16. [Hidden Content] When will some coaches realize this is not the 60's, 70's or even the 80's, parents will not support you if you are hurting their kids.
  17. If I was a betting man (haha, if...), I would guess they end up in 8-4A-II.
  18. Yes they do, and that is why every coach done wrong by the agenda of a self serving school board has to suffer the consequences. As do all of the athletes negatively affected by those decisions, and the community that elected them. It is a sad situation for the kids of Hemphill and Coach Launius, both will bounce back a be stronger because of it though, just sad because it was a needless decision.
  19. If he wins a state championship they will build him whatever he asks for.
  20. He should be given as long as he wants. If he cant win on The Hill, then I'm not sure it can be done.
  21. Everybody has an agenda, and some people swing a big stick. Small town politics at it's finest.
  22. They will not find a man more committed to Hemphill than John Launius was. Dumbest move they could have made. I'm sure there are some locals that were mad because the coaches son was the Quarterback. Such crap. John has always been a kids first coach. He learned from the best as a player for John Outlaw in high school. Hemphill made a huge mistake getting rid of him.
  23. I can see him winning and stay for as long as he wants. He will be a Administrator Head Coach. He will surround himself with great coaches and let them do their jobs. His son will run the offense and he will have the best defensive coordinator he can find. No reason to leave after 3 or 4 successful years. If he so desires, I'm sure they will make him AD only on the Hill and his son will take the reigns.
